You cling to your notions of purity. The day will come when the true power of my mark is revealed! - Kel

The dragonmarked houses of Khorvaire were founded by members of each race that were blessed with true dragonmarks. Over the years the houses grew to dominate society, their dragonmark powers giving them an edge over the unmarked masses. Most dragonmarks are found within the houses though occasionally a creature not of a house may develop that houses dragonmark and be accepted as part of the house.

Not so with those who possess Aberrant Dragonmarks. No one is sure what causes the wild mutations, but some aspect of their power got twisted as the dragonmarked bloodlines were extended down through the generations. Aberrant Dragonmarks are unpredictable both in selection of race and in power. Rumors are whispered that the mutated dragonmarks are impure and twist the mind of the creature who bears it.

It is perhaps the unknown quality of aberrant dragonmarks that causes the most fear among the populace. Never knowing where one will appear, or what powers the individual will possess puts people on edge. Kept in the fear of the unknown by a lack of understanding, society casts out individuals with aberrant dragonmarks and shun them. Raised in a world that fears and distrusts them, the bearers of aberrant dragonmarks face struggle and persecution all their life, from all peoples.

A few individuals that possess an aberrant dragonmark have been able to increase the power of their dragonmark. Whether fueled by a desire to understand their own nature or merely seeking a way to gain power over those who harass them, aberrant adepts have found a way to cause further mutations of the dragonmark. Through study of the nature of dragonmarks and their relationship with the three dragons of legend, aberrant adepts are able to gain mastery over their dragonmarks and achieve power with them that people thought was not possible.

-----

The basic idea of the PrC is to modify the Dragonmark Heir and make it available for characters with Aberrant Dragonmarks. Aside from two skill changes and the two minor special abilities the two classes are essentially the same. I can't reproduce the text of most of the abilities of the Dragonmark Heir as the text isn't OGL. The mechanics work the same as the Dragonmark Heir abilities.

It's not meant to be a great creative, original work. It's just a reflavoring of the Dragonmark Heir class. Thought I'd share it with the playground.

I was unaware that Aberrant Dragonmarks came in multiple levels the way House Dragonmarks do. Must have been in an expansion.

The Lesser Aberrant Dragonmark and Greater Aberrant Dragonmark are in Dragonmarked (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/eberron/953807200).
