I'm sure that a good number our posters have heard of the Speilberg produced live action transforms movie. I'm personally looking forward to this.

So I thought I would share a nifty teaser:

Is it just me or did that look suspiciously like Megatron?

This is scary... I would say this was a joke if there wasn't that website...

I never liked Transformers apart from the neat toys but maybe I was just born at the wrong time.

Its been on the back burner for years now.
I saw a poster at the local movie house, so its on like Donkey Kong in a year or so.

Yep, 7/4/7 is the date. As a plus Steven Speilberg has already said he wants the movie to be more about showing the kids of all the 30 year olds what their dad would watch on Saturday mornings. That means Optimus Prime is big rig self, Star Scream is going to be the jet, and Megatron is going to turn into some kind of gun/cannon.

Hey, if they pull it off as well as the Citroen adverts, I'll be happy.

I knew it! I knew Beagle didn't crash, and now my suspicions have been confirmed!

I'm really hoping that we see some of the *real* Transformer voice actors return to their roles...

*cough*Frank Welker*cough*

That guy IS Megatron (and Soundwave... and Galvatron, though I prefered Nimoy's)

I can't wait! I loved Transformers when I was a kid (still do, the original that is). I was born towards the end of the original stuff. I still have all of the toys I got. Most of them are second generation (and missing parts). If Speilberg is directing it should be awesome. And yes, the should bring back the original cast.

Sigh. I wish they'd bring back the toys. Although, maybe I should hope they do that around 5 years from now, so I won't be too poor and miss out on the ship again. ;)

I dunno...
I can't say I was ever a big fan of Transformers...never really seen what was so special.
Course, I loved Beastwars, but I was round about 7, and my idea of awesome was "It's on the TV with toys! Awesome"

Michael Bay's stated that none of the Transformers will change in size as they transform...so it's very doubtful that Megatron will take the form of a giant pistol that needs someone else to hold & fire it...

The main battle tank from the second xXx movie has been spotted on location, though, and the full-scale mock-up of what is presumably Bumblebee looks pretty good--he doesn't look like a wimp at all.

Well, they could have him turning into a Howitzer instead of that crummy pistol, just as a referrence rather than a direct link.

I gave up hope for this movie a long time ago, ever since I heard it was written by the same guy that did Catwoman.

Hopefully it's been, er, 'fixed' since then.

Speilberg is executive producer, and has said there are going to be certain expecations. He wants the movie to live up to those expectations, so I'm looking forward to a good translation.

Chris Latta? C'mon, there must be a high-enough level necromancer around here somewhere... (really, Starscream will not sound right without him)

And who will voice Jazz? We really need to start preserving our voice actors, like not letting Jack Nicholson plant axes in their chests. (or get them fired from the mental ward)

Chris Latta... :(

And on that depressing note, I just read this on wikipedia:

In Michael Bay's upcoming film, Transformers, Optimus Prime will be present as Autobot leader. However his distinguishing faceplate will be able to become a mouth during dialogue.

Blasphemy!

You can't give Optimus Prime a MOUTH, he's beyond a mouth. Make his faceplate move up and down or something, but *no* mouth goddamit.

Like there was of War of the Worlds? Ithink he directed rather than produced that though.

Well it's true Spielberg doesn't always hit the mark, but he's still got a mean track record. Jurassic Park, Jaws and all the Indy movies for example. I'd say there's hope. And I'd like to think he's smart enough to not use a script by the duder that wrote Catwoman, but I guess you never know.

:o I knew there was a movie in the works, but Speilberg being involved?

HOT DAMN! ;D

Transformers were the defining icon of my childhood, and not those crappy Beastwars and whatever-the-hell-else rubish they've come up with since, I'm talking about the original series.
Back when the toys actually looked like the characters and were made with metal parts.
One of my happiest childhood memories is waking up on my birthday, wandering out and finding a large gift waiting for me on the breakfast table, tearing it open to discover Optimus Prime in full action figure glory.
Some 20-odd years later I still have that toy.

The Transfomer toys they come up with these days make my inner child cry.
