Is the Snarl actually aware of the rift, do you think?

Blackwing essentially saw a whole new universe in there.

Ignoring for a second that perhaps the Snarl IS the universe, say it's somewhere within the universe. Say it's the world.

Awful long way away. The rift isn't THAT big - it probably can't be seen from space.

So, perhaps the Snarl isn't aware of the rift at all...

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Lots. Many. Many lots. Filling entire existing threads. ;)

Given that according to Shojo the Snarl isn't even aware of its prison, it doesn't seem tremendously likely that it would notice places where said prison doesn't exist.

Not quite right. He said the Snarl wasn't aware of its prison forming around it until it was too late. Once it was trapped, there's nothing keeping it from awareness of its trapped state. In fact, he said the Snarl "clawed and scraped" at its prison (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0275.html). It knows it's there.

By our sources, the Snarl has managed to kill some things by reaching thru the rifts, so it is reasonably certain it knows about them.

Unless he killed them by accident without even knowing while he still continued to scrape at his prison...

Or it was just reaching out to say hello, and Soon's wife was in the way.
Then later it tried to reach out to apologize, or say hello again, and got swords stuck in his hand and tried to shake the annoying flys off (when the order of the scrible attacked it).

maybe the snarl got so bored from being in prison, he decided to make a mirror world where everything is the opposite?

I'd like to see the Linear Guilds opposites then...
