Random Banter this is, meant, the Yoda accent was not

Random Banter!

Rules

1. Spam. For the purposes of RB, one word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.

2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".

3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something that is off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.

4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.

5. Please don't post single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."

6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."

7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.

8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.

9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.

10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.

11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.

12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.

13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.

And here, linked for your convenience, are the previous incarnations of this thread.

Question: is there a single Spaghetti Western that features a trustworthy, honorable Mexican character? Jeezy.

What kind of question is that. It's like asking whether there's ever a space opera that doesn't involve space in any way.

Admittedly in the Magnificent Seven the village the seven protect is filled with trustworth honourable peasant. The problem is that they may or may not actually be mexicans and the Magnificent Seven may or may not be a Speghetti Western. Otherwise it is a perfect example.

@Fred: You obviously don't know neither what I am referencing, nor the sheer power of George Washington.

I am a horrible student cliche. And yet, there's no reason for me to be so - I live on my own, so there's none of the "my housemate has decided to run a biological experiment involving mould on my dishes" issues I used to have. I have a decent kitchen. I have a vast amount of time in which to buy food. And yet I'm living off oven pizza. It's madness.

Men who can cook seem to be very popular these days.

I'm glad I can cook and my boyfriend can't. The best thing in the world to know how to cook is vast quantities of something foreign that your significant other can't pronounce.

Especially if you don't like their family. You can say, "I am very fond of you! Come and visit for dinner! What are we having? Oh, nothing special, tvorozhniki, barszcz, khvanchkara i djepelgesh."

Or you could just click at them like a Predator for thirty seconds. They'll react in exactly the same way.

I wish I could cook. I can make simple stuff, like pasta, home fries, popovers, etc., and I can bake, but that's about the extent of my cooking ability. I love food, though, so it seems that the natural extension of that love should be a desire to cook good food.

I'll probably start cooking once I get out of college and have no other way of obtaining good food besides paying for it.

In other news, I just went for a run for the first time since winter track today. I am going to be so damn stiff tomorrow.

I used to run almost every morning. However, I finally figured out that after about two weeks of doing so, my knees die and I can't even walk up the stairs, they hurt so bad. Ew.

Also, Body Mass Index is a load of crap. It's about the health-based equivalent of IQ tests for measuring intelligence.

Double also, I'm probably the charming and thoroughly dashing Zero-version of that. Doesn't matter what or how often I eat I will remain ten stone. Even as I get taller, or stronger, still ten stone.

My theory is that, to account for the density difference, a redistribution has happened. Most likely the removal of my cold, stone heart leaving an empty abyss.

Quadruple also, since triple also would be stupid, I'm watching Wall-E for the first time just now. It's very cute.

See, my head knows this, especially since I'm (to put it mildly) on the short side of the height scale and BMI works even less well on the extremes.

My heart, however, warped by years of reading glamour magazines and watching Hollywood films, sees my BMI of 19 and goes "Thin! I'm thin! Society will accept me!". It's not really about science.

Wall-E is adorable. And the fact that you find it cute shows, I think, that your heart is nowhere near as cold as you make out.

I had a little conversation with someone on a video for a Still Alive "duet". Someone said they didn't get the cake is a lie, so I replied with "You know the cake? Yes? It's a lie. It doesn't exist." I got a reply from someone else saying they loved me. Mostly, though, I like to play a game where I post the stupidest thing I can think of and see how many people are sure I'm joking. Helpful hint: no-one has ever thought I'm joking.

But Rust, the undeadest Rusty on Giantitp

Take this of me, Rust of my consolation;
Hearing thy wittiness praised in every subforum,

Yet not so deeply as to thee belongs,
Myself am moved to woo thee for Awesome itp.

Nor can they just tell me the stupid bloody PIN because they don't have it. Visa does. And Visa is in charge of sending this crap out.

GET OUT OF MY BRAIN!
In other words: I recently had a dream about a giant hornet...

I had a nightmare. I was supposed to be looking after animals and insects and stuff but I didn't feed them so they rotted and I felt a bit horrible because of that and then this giant effing hornet chased after me down a corridor.

Also, I was severely tempted to alter that to inflect a certain reaction in the Freudian...

I usually don't remember my dreams, and I've only had a handful of nightmares in my entire life (that I remember).

My most memorable was one I had as a fairly small child. I was on some kind of train, and I was in a spacious room with red carpets and a dais. And on the dais was a very short, unkempt looking albino woman with long, scraggly white hair. I think she may have been a witch. Anyway, she wasn't chasing me, just standing there, but something about her was just absolutely terrifying. It was weird.

In other news, here's a video of Count von Count singing a song about counting. The twist is that every instance of the word "count" (excluding his name/title) is bleeped out.

And clearly it failed to achieve its objective, because the only thing I remember learning in food tech throughout my time in school is how to use a garlic crusher. How to cook I learned by, y'know, cooking.

How can a bazooka be recoiless?

Not that I know anything about weaponry, but it seems to me firing something heavy at high speed would at the very least give you pause.

Oops, it's not a bazooka, it's just artillery.

I have no idea how it works, but...

Also, if you managed to up a Velociraptor's intelligence such that it could operate such a vehicle, then you are vastly underestimating the possibilities of your supposed technology.

Indeed. We simply imagine a world where Fred and I rule, and it shall be so. Kaelaroth shall be our right-hand man, and of course we will imagine him as a person incapable of betraying us, just to make sure that he doesn't stab us in the back.

Stop trying to corrupt me! Everywhere I turn in this connundrum leads to another evil. Such a strange game, the only winning move is not to play.

And why would I want to get rid of you? Just because we have our differences and sometimes don't seem eye to eye doesn't mean that I'd want to get rid of you.

I'll just imagine my own secret strike-force of warrior Pokemon and overthrow the dictatorship. Chaotic Good means that I can whoop backside and the people will still love me. :smalltongue:

Nope, I'm just trying to weasel my way into just using the machine to become a millionaire. And maybe use it to fall in love too, but that's a different story all together.

Let me put it simply:
I am a simple boy with simple needs. I don't want to be the ruler of a world, I don't want people bowing down to me. I don't need it. All I need is a life of relative comfort, with some nice books and a good woman. That is all.

Wrecked by what Kaelaroth? Wrecked by what?

1. You create your dream girl, as you said you would (before editing). She appears. She's perfect, everything you ever wanted. She's not real, not true. You spend the rest of your life ruing the fact that you cheated to create love, and the niggling sensation that you wouldn't have been able to achieve anything like this would lurk forever, as you also worry that, by creating a love, you've denied yourself the love of a real woman, who'd love you for who you are, and not just because you made her too.

2. As you said, in your edit "bring the perfect girl" either "to" or "for you". She's perfect, everything you ever wanted, though slightly less so, since this implies that she's a real girl you've just made love you. Similarly, you spend the rest of your life ruing the fact that you cheated to have love, and the niggling sensation that you wouldn't have been able to achieve anything like this would lurk forever in your mind, along with the deep, panicked panic that you've committed a huge sin by forcing someone to love you, stealing away the chance they might've had at a life with someone else, or, merely a life without you. Perhaps, even, by driving them away from their true course, you've ruined someone else's love. They, now, will never find the one they should've been with (the girl you took), and their life's over, too.

And oh-so much more.
Magic should never create love. Even though, in this scenario, one would "imagine" such problems away.

How can a bazooka be recoiless?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recoilless_rifle

Let's just say that you don't want to be standing behind one when it fires. Also, you probably shouldn't fire one while standing in front of anything flammable. Nor explosive.

Basically, it's an open tube with a rocket. This allows a much larger warhead to be fired from a much smaller platform than would otherwise be possible.

What about women who can transform into guitars?

And I think I shall obtain Prototype.

@Kaelaroth: Quite true. Quite true indeed. It is a conundrum. If magic creates love then it isn't true, but if it doesn't, then you always have the chance that maybe you just won't find love. Meh, I'm only 16, I've got plenty of time to try and find love.
