Could daigos last name be daigo? it seems like something rich would do..

I don't think so. Kazumi Kato has the two first letters math in her first and last name, so it's probably something totally different.

So far I've been envisioning it as Daigo Dakota.

Or maybe he doesn't really have a last name and he's bluffing!

*scene: Kazumi Kato has been kidnapped by random BBEG for generic nefarious plot. Daigo bursts through the conveniently placed window where villain has just explained his master plan to Kazumi and said "Nothing can stop me now!"*

Villain: "Whuh?! You must be Kazumi's husband. Daigo... *thinking* Daigo"
Daigo: "Danger. Daigo Danger." *puts on a pair of shades as he gets a close-up*
*insert awkward silence*
Villain: "That's the worst oriental name I've ever heard!"
Daigo: "Oh yeah? Worse than my *insert attack* Kick-Your-Arse-For-Stealing-My-WIFE technique?!"
Villain (now on the floor, injured, and annoyed): "I stand corrected"

I think Daigo Dazumi, to match Kazumi Kato.

Kato, Kazumi.

See there?

That only holds true for the Azurites whose last names we know: Miko, Daigo, and Kazumi. Also, Miko's mother was named Eiko (any relation to Biko or Ceeko, I wonder...) so it's not a rule.

the two are married, so i believe they would now have the same last name.

Logic failure.

It'd be Daigo and Kazumi Kato now.

Not Daigo Kazumi.

That's like Roy Celia instead of Roy and Celia Greenhilt.

It would be strange if Daigo's last name turned out to be Daimyo. First off, one would not expect a "commoner" to have such a name. Second, it would be funny if Daigo's name was revealed when someone else was being addressed (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0589.html).

Ah, but Eiko is only an exception if you know her maiden name, which we don't :P

Daimyo isn't a name at all, it's a title. I'm sure the law in Azure City would forbid anyone from having such a name.

Yeah, I was thinking of Rocky Raccoon at the time, I believe.

It's actually probably Daigo Contacdaneareskleric. It's supposed to save him because it contains instructions for what to do for him after he kicks it.

Edit: Or a simpler one would be Daigo Raezmi. But he would need the title of Whenai, in either case.

That's what I believe as well. Daigo Daisuke has a nice ring to it, and it kind of matches Kazumi's name, in a way.

I've seen people with last names like "King" and "Prince" before. Not "Emperor" or "President", but titles and names can mix, even for someone who's family tree cannot be traced to someone of power or nobility.

I think. I'm not sure what I Daimyo is, exactly.:smalltongue:

Combination Landlord/Warlord. About equivalent to a baron, I think. Though smaller ones would probably be more like counts. Unless I'm mixing up which is which again.

Yes, definitely. No, I've got it- It's "Da " (with a bunch of spaces in it, which is why he had the dash. So his last name still hasn't been fully revealed).

Barons < Counts < Earls

Technically, Counts are the equivalent of Earls, but outside of England (tend to have similar powers).

Interestingly, women in England holding Earl-level lands and legal powers, either through birth, or marriage and widowing, tended to be called Countesses.

Kazumi is way to hardcore to be kidnapped. She slaughters ninjas even when pregnant.

I should have written barons < (counts = earls) < dukes .

no problem.

Title evolution is interesting- for example- a family accumulating titles (5 earldoms, in one case) through intermarriage and land grants, until finally they get a new title created for them- Earl becomes Duke.

(the title had existed before, in France, but, in both England and Scotland, Dukes did not start to appear till quite late. I think the Duchy of Lancaster was one of the first English Duchies, after the Duchy of Normandy was lost.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke

EDIT:
Technically, its one of the only Duchies, nearly all the rest are Dukedoms, but it does confirm it appeared later.

I always thought it would be Daigo Daigo.

This could be a set-up for a really tragic death for him; imagine him lying there, bleeding as some BBEG stands before him, triumphant. Daigo realizes he still has his last name, and proudly proclaims, "My name is Daigo Daigo! And I will live!"

Dramatic pause. BBEG : "Well, but we knew your name was Daigo already."

Daigo: "Damn." And X's replace his eyes.
