So here's the deal. We're studying "using language to persuade" in English this term, and our project is to find an issue, gather articles on it, study it, then write an analysis piece on one of our articles and present a five-minute oral trying to persuade the rest of the class to our point of view.

Here's the problem: I tried to find articles on the Australian government's plans to censor the Internet (which I had high hopes for as a topic), but the resources of our school aren't coming up with many articles. The topic may be too old for me to find recent articles.

So either I need a new topic, or some links to articles on this issue.
If it's a new topic, I'd prefer to do something Internet-or technology-related.

Here are the guidelines I have to follow:
- The issue must be widely covered in the Australian media,
- The event I focus on must have occurred in 2009,
- There must be arguments "for" and "against".

If anyone has any suggestions or can find some articles, that would be great, wonderful and awesome.

Thankyou in advance for saving my school grades.

I agree with MethosHazara; if you want to do censorship, the Australian game industry rating system has faced some criticism recently because of the lack of a M for Mature or adult R18+ type of rating.

There must be arguments "for" and "against".

Do the arguments have to be reasonable? ;)

Thanks, guys, it helped a lot!

I ended up choosing the economic stimulus packages, though, because it was really easy to find articles on, and I'm lazy. Those articles you linked kept me very entertained for a while, though!

So, thanks again!

Oh you changed it.

I was about to recommend sending Serpentine a PM, because : 1. She's australian. and 2. Works with old newspapers.
