What have you done because you misheard something?

We were in the abandoned factory looking for a gem (it was powering the factory)
So we find it sitting on the alter.
The dwarf goes to pick it up.
Dm say to the dwarf: "You're stuck"
So I'm thinking it's cursed so hee can't take his hands of it.
Me: "I go and Pick the dwarf up"
DM: Roll grapple
me; :smallconfused:
DM to dwarf: "Unless you don't want to resist?"
Dwarf player: "Of course i want to resist"
me: :smallconfused:
I win grapple
DM: "What do you do with the dwarf?"
Me: :smallconfused: "You mean he came free that easily? i though he was stuck?"
Dwarf player: "No, the Gem was stuck"
me: "... oh, ok, I put the dwarf down, over in the corner..."

Its not so much a mishearing as a misunderstanding, but a few years ago while playing a wizard in 2e Planescape, I found myself in the middle of a riot and stood next to - of all people - Factol Sarin of the Harmonium (if you're unfamiliar with Planescape, lets just say high level paladin captain of the city guard). Being a helpful, battle-wizardy kind of chap, I asked if there was anything I could do to help, to which he replied "please clear the area."

I took that to mean "lay down surpressing fire"...

Turns out he meant "leave"

My arrest for mass-murder swiftly followed. At least he spoke at my trial though. Nice guy. :smallamused:

I was GMing for my little brother, and this exchange occurred.

"The cultists surround you and ask 'Are you a believer or an unbeliever?'"

"...I'm...not a beaver..."

Now I want to see the stats for an unbeaver.

They're the same as for the beaver, only not.

You just put him back down in the corner? lol...(you should have made baby sounds at him and tried tickling him instead)

I really wanna run a hard of hearing shopkeep who makes items by request. Can't wait to ruin my PCs rations with a 'bag of molding.'

Not *exactly* a miss-heard so much as miss-spoke.

During a high level EVIL Eberron campaign where all PC's are a vile bunch set to siege a kingdom.

DM to the Telepath Psion: Your head feels hazy as the cleric chants. (under a confusion spell) It is hard for you to focus.

Telepath OOC: (my mindsight still works though right?)

DM OOC: (yes, you know where all minds are and a bit about them)

Telepath: I MindThrust the most evil mind I can detect.

DM OOC: (really?)

Telepath OOC: (definitely, overcharging for max damage)

DM turning to the Assassin character: You are sneaking closer to the enemy cleric when you feel a rise of pressure - excruciating pressure.

DM turning to the Tank Character Flanking with the Assassin: You hear a sharp scream followed by a *pop*. The Assassin's brains spatter across your shield.

Players: What!

DM: The most evil mind on the battlefield just died a horrible death.

And there goes another evil party due to being incapable of working together properly. :smallamused::smalltongue:

I had an NPC that spoke with an accent.
He asked the party if they were going to investigate the ruins outside of town. Goblins had taken them over and started killing people who went in looking for herbs.

The party heard Runes. They were exploring the Ruins, looking for Runes that didn't exist. And getting ready to kill a goblin wizard that wasn't there.
