View Full Version : Cool plotlines we (probably) will never see

So, I thought this little break would be a fun time to discuss plot ideas that have occurred to us, but probably won't happen because the likelihood of our imagination syncing up with Rich's is rather small.

NOT a thread for folks who dwell on what SHOULD happen in the strip, merely one for things that might coulda happened, in a slightly different OotSverse.

My little daydream: Belkar proves himself through dint of sheer orneriness and ferocity to be a threat to Xykon's plan, by killing hordes of minions if not threatening Xykon personally. Following the advice of a few divination spells or perhaps a trip to the Oracle, Team Evil decides the way to rid themselves of Belkar is to Ressurect Yokyok, the koblod swordsman (swordslizard...I dunno) who wanted to avenge his father Yikyik but was killed by an avalanche of adventurers. Yokyok does in fact kill Belkar, but being an honorable soul who wished revenge for his father but has no allegience to evil, turns of Xykon and plays a crucial role in his defeat.

Xykon falls into the Snarl universe and is somehow trapped (the rift seals behind him or something), and RC/IFCC (thinking they are manipulating Redcloak, while RC knows what the spell really does) use V in his place at the next gate. Halfway, Xykon pops out, pissed as hell, and starts throwing epic magic blasts all over the place with the OOTS, Team Evil, maybe the Linear Guild all caught up in it.

Utterly ridiculous, impossible, but dammit, you cannot argue with Xykon going nuts.

(is that the kinda thing?)

Yup, exactly what I was thinking. Nifty scenario too, Darkroot.

Anyone else out there want to use their vast imaginative capabilities for something oher than overanalyzing strip minutae?

Ive always wanted V and Belkar get tangled up in a gladiator match (maybe something to do with belkar's obsession with fighting" and a after a large fight where V wins, V and belkar share a moment and V spares belkars life, thus putting him in the "lust" category again

I know, terrible, and it sounds alot like fable TLC

Belkar dies in a painful and drawnout fasion at the hands of O-Chul when he abandones the party. They manage to free Haley's father and kill/redeem Elans dad, then head to Girad's gate.
Roy meets what appears to be a beautiful women in a bar on the way, who says she has a way to kill Xykon, a stereotypical weapon of some description only she can wield. After showing herself incredibly competent she joins the party, endearing everyone to her and acting like a stereotypical Mary Sue (stealing the spotlight, the adventure seems to revolve around her, ect.).
Then, when they finally get to Xykon (Abut ten strips later, as I don't know how much of that I can take), now at Girad's gate, she drops the illusion and is revealed to be...
Ydranna from SoD, now also transformed into a lich. She and Xykon have a massive epic fight, and seem equally matched, then they start making out, then resume their fight. Eventually she finds out about the plan, wants in, and Redcloak has to deal with two epic unstable liches with a penchant for mindless cruelty.
Hilarious, but unlikely.

There once was a thread, 'Durkon needs a plotline'.
Quoting myself from this very thread:

We all know, that there IS something between Durkon and Lien. Just look at the wide panel of #0671*. So Hilgya will come back, carrying a little babydwarf inside her womb (a dwarfettes pregnancy lasts faaaar longer than those of humans), and Durkon has to decide between lawfulness and lawf. He will finally decide, that Lien is too much of a good deal, that he turns his back on Hilgya, but telling his fiancee everything which will make her breaking up, because she knows, that the child would need a father. Durkon will search for Hilgya, who already left the place they were. After tracking her in an extremely long sidequest, he will find her dead body, because she poisened herself because of the love that hasn't been fulfilled. It is not only the love! Durkon dismissed her, because of her lack of lawfulness and now he turned chaotic and it is against her. She will die, taking their child with her, Durkon will go back to Lien who will confess that she is pregnant too. They decide to try it again and try to forget Hilgya, but after the baby dies during a hostile undead-attack, Durkon finally loses control and goes mad. He will go on a rampage, close to his homelands, were Hilgya went. The dwars want to calm him down, he kills them all, bringing death and destruction to his homelands. In the end he gets killed. He is brought to the highpriest of Thor, where the last few dwarves try to decide what to do with him. Their decision is to let him be a while in his afterlife to redeem for his sins. After that they raise him, to become the new highpriest - which he is qualified for because he is the only one who experienced even the worst sides but still came back to the LG-corner. With his new powers, he manages to revive his and Liens baby and after killing Xykon, they live happily ever after.

*Hinjo - Elan+Haley - Lien+Durkon - Kazumi+Daigo - Belkar+wait... well, but anyway: no coincidence!

The spell the Order of the Rift used to close the rifts was in fact the power of seven sages that protect the world. When Roy and the Order defeat Xykon, he resurrects even more powerful than ever. As he is immortal, they have to summon the power of the seven sages to incarcerate Xykon into the Snarl's dimension, making him a recurring villain for the next sequels of the comic. That happens to be immortal. Always. Somehow.

Why are you not writing about this on the crack-parings thread? How do you think we are going to spread this pairing if we don't work together?

Well, ...

After storming out of the throne room, Miko hears about the party being found innocent. Correctly deducting this means the fix was in, she incorrectly blames Roy, and decides she needs evidence, which she can only get from Roy. So she goes to Roy to "apologize" and to offer him a date [and a chance to pump him for information.] Roy considers whether to rationally avoid this obvious trainwreck, or be ruled by his trouser titan and go for a chance at the hot chick. He makes the sensible choice [sensible if you are a male anyway.]
The date does not go well in part because Miko alternates between determined virgin who threatens to kill Roy for even thinking of touching her, and seductress who encourages all sorts of touching. Desperate, Miko decides that booze might get Roy to start blabbing secrets. However, she is also a virgin about drinking and she gets smashed worse than he does. Miko now becomes extremely eager, and Roy must resist the chance to take advantage of an obvious drunk who doesn't really know what she is doing, and who is making it extremely hard to resist her.
Eventually the two drunks manage to reach Miko's quarters where Miko continues to try to seduce Roy until she falls asleep. Roy now gets some lewd thoughts, but falls asleep too on top of Miko. [We don't get to see if he actually did or not.]
They wake in the morning and Miko is furious that he took advantage of her. Roy of course denies that he did, or least he doesn't remember doing so. This of course makes Miko even more furious and Roy get chased out of her quarters, escaping only when Miko realizes she is not exactly in full uniform.
The next 100+ strips are more or less the same. However, Miko now takes O-Chul's role and ends up as Xykon's toy. She largely misunderstands the MitD, who also misunderstands her, and thanks her for her insults. She also insults V when the two rescue each other and are teleported by MitD who deems Miko a friend.
Once the party is re-united, Hinjo chooses to make Miko's sentence exile, and sends her off under the supervision of Roy, an idea that pleases nobody of course.
From there? Well, maybe Belkar can seduce her, or maybe Roy actually did, and...

Well, far be it from me to police others' flights of fancy, but I can't help thinking that pretty soon Miko would realize that she's still a virgin.

Miko would be a virgin's virgin, and would not even know what virgin actually meant.

The Eastern Pantheon are still alive inside the Snarl and the entire OOTS gets thrown in the Snarl by Xykon in front of friends, family, and allies as a final defeat. Instead of being unmade, they come back out possessed by the lost gods. (For example, Elan is now Hermes in Elan's body, Haley is Artemis, Vaarsuvius is stuck with all three versions of Hecate...) They then proceed to kick lich ass.

This isn't the first time I've suggested this, but I'd like to see an alternate future in which Xykon rules the world with the power of the Snarl. The heroes are scattered and destroyed, and the now-married and long-suffering couple of Durkon and Lien are forced to send their only son back through time to stop the menace. His name... O-Chul.

Slightly more serious, I notice the Giant has yet to use the old chestnut of established enemies forced to work together against a common foe. It would be cool to see the Order of the Stick and the Linear Guild team up to take on a powerful enemy (Xykon, maybe?).

Belkar becomes a robot!

...what? A robot/cyborg would never have to breathe, thus fulfilling the Oracle's prophecy while allowing Belkar to remain in existence. It'd be hilarious, not to mention a nice slap in the face to all those who complain about DnD becoming too "sci-fi".

Xykon is about to capture the gate, with the Order at his mercy. At PRECISELY the same time, Frudu destroys the Ming, causes a volcanic eruption, destroying the gate & allowing our heroes to flee...

Why are so many people having ideas to do with Belkar?

Also, if you want an incredibly, terrifyingly, brain-liquifyingly (I make sense! Yay!!!), unlikely scenario see my crack pairing: Durkon+Demon Roach (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6779713#post6779713)

Durkon needs a storyline?

How about, to fulfill his 'prophecy', Kraagor's gate is in the Dwarven Lands? Means we have another siege scenario, as well as finally some Durkon action.

Re-introduce Hilgya, and season with a Linear Guild coup in the government
