If Dorukan's Gate was destroyed, there would be a huge rift since it was destroyed before Soon's Gate.
Is this rift just going to be ignored?

There is no reason to believe that Dorukan's rift is openning the same way Soon's is, not to mention that a -mountain- is sitting on said rift.

Questionable assumptions aside (didn't we just learn that everything we thought we knew about what's inside the rifts is up for grabs?), I doubt very much Rich plans on just ignoring any of the rifts.

You have to remember that Dorukan's Gate was destroyed in a different manner than Soon's: While Soon's Gate was violently smashed open by a sword slash, Dorukan's was destroyed by a self-destruct mechanism which was designed by the same person who built the gate. Logically speaking, it would make sense that his self destruct mechanism would be designed to inflict minimal damage to the rift itself.

They definitely were destroyed in different ways; still, I doubt that Rich will ignore any rifts.

It might have grown larger as well. The rift above Azure City can't be seen after the explosion. It only got bigger over the three month gap. For all we know, the rift slowly devoured the entire mountain.

They're obviously going to be touched on at some point. The Order does have to seal or destroy the rifts by the end of the story. They can't just stay open, no matter what happens to be in there.

Pretty much. We might get a quick strip showing Durkon and V replacing all the gates or something, but ignoring casual mentions, Dorukan's Gate is out of the story.

I kinda agree with this view, we didn't see the rift before because there was nothing to see.

Actually, I suspect the rifts where Lirian's Gate and Dorukan's Gate were *will* be ignored, simply because I don't think either of them are in a location we're likely to see again. We've only seen the Azure City rift so much because the city is still hanging on by its fingernails to the plot, but now that the Order is leaving the refugees behind, chances are even that won't appear much in the next book.

The Redmountain Hills rift was already big - it was the biggest one of them all. There may not have been much growing left for it to do, and besides, any growth at all would be hard to see under the rubble of the Dungeon of Dorukan. And as mentioned earlier in the thread, Redcloak also suggested (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0672.html) that the manner in which Soon's Gate was destroyed contributed to the rate of growth.

As Hinjo said in strip 411, Soon's gate secured a tiny rift in the sky. Therefore, as it gets bigger, it's clearly visible. However the Redmountain Gate was miles below ground, and you would have to dig up the castle foundations to get at it.

The tons of rubble are no problem if the Snarl is active. It easily destroyed an entire world. So anything near the rift was gone almost as soon as the Snark wanted it gone. Of course, we seem to have a distinct lack of Snarl activity. So we can't be sure of much of anything.
