Here is a little quiz where none of the answers are stated explicitly in the text, but they are all there, and with a bit of hunting and deduction, you can get the answer. I'll post one now, and after you've posted the answer and discussed it, I'll post another. This will be repeated again and again.

Who was Dorukan in love with?

Itamarcu
2009-08-23, 10:33 AM
Dorukan is in love with Lirian (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0532.html).
It is also said a lot in SoD.
EDIT: You know, this is really a lot like "OOTS quiz".

I had no idea about the SoD mentions.

I know it's a bit like Oots quiz, but I wanted a thread with little puzzles to discuss, because I'm not that good at working puzzles out, but I love making them. So here I can make lots for other oots-o-holics to solve.

There are two things that point towards Dorukan loving Lirian. Can anyone spot the other one? (This is harder than the first one.)

there's the summoning example in Celia's explanation and its mentioned in the dairy

The diary is the other mention. Have a cookie.

Anyways, What colour was Master Fyron's Magic?

BatRobin

Not in the comic.

Blue - no, Yellow.

Whu? Is that really in the comic? Can't remember that at all.

It's not.

If you're referring to Roy's Dad, green. If you mean Xykon, black. If you mean Dorukan, yellow.

It's not explicitly stated in the comic, but there is something about him that means you can tell.

Clue: There is only one strip with a picture of Master Fyron. This strip is Unfinished Business (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0078.html)

This is a VERY difficult one, but with some deductive reasoning it's definately doable.

I would say yellow, since arcane casters tend to have the same color of the magic as of their robe (with slight modifications). Note that this isn't 100% true though (example (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0670.html)).

Had Xykon's robe been black instead of dark blue, I would have had the answer. Eugene wears a green robe and his magic's green. Dorukan wore a yellow robe and his magic was yellow. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0196.html) Technically, it means Fyron's magic was orange, but as I said, Xykon doesn't wear black.

EDIT: ninja'd.

Lovely!!! Have a cookie!
I don't quite get Teddy's post, because he was right in theory, but Fyron's robes aren't yellow.

How old is Elan?

23, as Nale states during the capture of Julia.

23, as Nale states during the capture of Julia.

He says he's 5 years older than her.
And she's 16.
So... He's 21, not 23

Edit: It's also stated in one of the books that Elan and Nale are 21

I knew it was either 23 or 21. *facepalm*

The answer is 21!!! Have a cookie!
Because Nale tells us he's 21, and twins are the same age. I think.

Also, answers based on the webcomic, not the books. Anything in a book that isn't on the web, doesn't count as an answer.

How many years was Lord Shojo on the throne?

Omergideon
2009-08-24, 04:39 AM
Here goes my reasoning.

He says he has commanded the Sapphire guard for 47 years. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0277.html). Since his father recieved the command of the sapphire guard from Soon when he was a child (same strip) then it stands to reason he has commanded for the same lenth of time. Also, far less than a year passed from when the Order met him to his death (a few weeks at most), so 48 years is unlikely.

Note, this means Soon commanded the guard for less than 20 years. Considerably less (maybe 10) when he gave the command to Shojo's father and so was quite old when he quested originally. Probably epic level even then.

So this is a quiz thread exactly same as the "OotS Quiz" thread but only you gotta ask the questions...

Ooookay. Have fun...

The GREEN Dragon of Redragonsville... (spelling may be incorrect due to fail)
That's just an assumption though

On the other hand... Eugene?

How many pixelated squares are there when somebody in Oots is naked?

Waiting for the
"What is the MitD?" or "What gender is V?" questions, cause I know I'll get those.

;)

Itamarcu
2009-08-25, 05:47 AM
I also noticed 2 things:
1. Elan (http://www.GiantITP.com/comics/oots0026.html) doesn't have a belly button (Or navel, or umbilicus, or whatever it's called)
2. The squares that are covering their "place" are much bigger for Elan (http://www.GiantITP.com/comics/oots0026.html), than for Roy (http://www.GiantITP.com/comics/oots0665.html). Is it a difference between them, or something that changes because of art things?

Grey Knight

Is it a difference between them?

Yes. Elan's Charisma score is bigger. :smallwink: ifyouknowwhatimean

Zolkabro

That was a bit of a trick guestion. I'd realised about the difference, but your point about charisma, Grey Knight, made me realise. Elan's Charisma is eighteen. Elan has 18 pixels. Roy has 14 pixels. Does this mean his Charisma is 14?

Tijne, "What gender is V?" is unanswerable. What do you mean, you know you'll get those?

He means they often come up in threads like these. I think he's well aware we don't have the answers for them.

Actually, Roy has 18 too, it's 3 rows of 6. Some are just well-blended into the BG.

Elan has 18 as well, but his are bigger.

:haley: "I'm going to go see what his eighteen charisma is worth 'under the hood'."
Teehee.

Did Elan have the same amount of pixels in the Dungeon of Dorukan and in Azure City?

Itamarcu
2009-08-26, 08:30 AM
Actually, it looks like he's got 22 or 25 in Azure City.

So NO, he doesn't. He probably leveled up again and put more points to charisma.
Or did the tumbling training helped this?:smalleek:

Zolkabro

Or maybe there are more pixels when has a mainly female audience.

:elan: Woooooo! I'm invisible!
:roy: How I wish that were true.
:belkar: Please cast blindness on me.

and later on

:durkon: It's a touch spell.

(strips 25 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0025.html) to 27 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0027.html))

Who here thinks that sometime in the future, Elan is going to try and sneak up on an enemy naked, thinking that it will stop him being seen?
Actually, that might work. The enemy will scream, and cover his eyes, thereby enabling Elan to attack.
That brings scary thoughts to mind.

:elan: "Don't worry! I've been learning the grappling rules!"

Well, if nobody else has a question, I'll provide one.

The goblins and hobgoblins always seem to be understood by other races, even when talking amongst themselves. Can you find a piece of evidence that a Goblin language actually exists in the OOTSiverse?

I do have another question, I just hadn't said it yet.

Strip 10. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0010.html)
I remembered the bit immediately, I just had to find the page it was on.

The reason that no more questions have been said is that in this thread we discuss the answers. That is the main difference between this thread and Oots quiz. But since you are being so impatient,

In our world what are the pantheons in Ootsworld known as?

BatRobin

Monasteries.

I was actually thinking of #282 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0282.html), good job! I wasn't feeling impatient, just had an idea and thought I'd throw it in.

The pantheons are from the following:

North: Norse
East: Greek
South: Chinese
West: Babylonian

The answers to my previous question are mentioned in many strips, but which strip has all 4 answers?

Zolkabro

Yeah, that one is pretty heart rending.
But the Question was because the comic I meant was actually called: Saddest. Comic. Ever.
In strip 84 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0084.html) I also kind of, (but not completely) agree with Durkon. Especially the bit about "If it feels groovy, do it!". Sometimes people fail dismally to consider that just because they enjoy something, it could still be torture for someone else.

Anyone here see what I mean?
