Risus doesn't have HP per se. Rather, it uses Cliches as your "health". When you run out of all dice in a Cliche (by losing combat rolls), you get KO'd or killed, I don't remember which one. I think it depends on what the victor says, the loser is at the mercy of the winner. This can be prevented by switching off between Cliches as you continue to lose dice out of them.

Do you have a copy of the Risus rules (free to download)?

I believe it says that you get "incapacitated" and it's up to the GM to decide what happens to you (presumably so you don't die a lot).

If you engage in a 'contest' and lose all your dice, you lose. This could mean anything from "I break up with my girlfriend" to "I lost the guy I was following" to "I'm riddled with bullets" depending on circumstances. Your dice recover at whatever rate the GM wants (usually pretty quick as Risus is a one-night beer and pretzels specialist) but actual death only happens when the GM wants it to... e.g. the gunfight leaves you lying on the floor doing a Mister Orange impersonation, and then your nemesis walks over, loads the bullet with your name on it, and puts the barrel against your head.

Game over man, game over. :smallcool:

This is one time where the answer is not "Alone."

Usually by not being able to fast-talk your way out of trouble fast enough. :smallamused:

"Of course my 3-die Baker of Legend schtick applies to escaping from a warzone!"
"How?"
"Errrr..."
