An era has ended, a new era is begun! *Ride of the Valkyries*

I grant unto thee
The Randomest
Banter!

Have fun, but only fun as sponsored by the mods and members of our lovely forum, as described herein. Rulebreakers will be shot, survivors will be ushered in for tea and then eaten.

Rules

1. Spam. For the purposes of RB, one word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.

2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".

3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something that is off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.

4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.

5. Please don't post single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."

6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."

7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.

8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.

9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.

10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.

11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.

12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.

13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.

And here, linked for your convenience, are the previous incarnations of this thread.

I really really want you to love me, but then again, it's unavailable in my country due to copyright. Looks like our continents will never let this romance come to pass, my dearest fraulein.

I do not care about your hair color, but if black suits you, then you should do it.

I like this quote:
The Demon God Yoth-Ziggurat might want to chop your soul up into little pieces, but at least he doesn't tell you that you haven't got one.

And at least you've got half a chance of finding a magic sword.

He should indeed.... or should he? Should anyone care about anything in this world? The answer.... well of course the bloody answer is yes! If nobody cared about anything the world would be a bloody depressing place to live in!

I honestly like it there. The campus isn't too big, and none of the buildings are scattered at all (ie. Dorms on one side, classes on the other). There's a nature reserve right off of campus.

We have a lot of good programs up here, too, especially in Natural Resources.

In other, other news. It is a sad state of affairs when a college campus is not good walking.

Also, I've begun playing Pokemon Red again.

Also, I'm about 2/3 of the way through the Johnny Maxwell Trilogy.

Mmm... Nature reserves.

Well, with your glowing review in mind, I will allow her to continue considering Steven's Point.

Well, a college located within a major city might be unpleasant to walk, but could still be a valid institution of higher learning. It might even be nicer because you have all of the advantages of a city, such as clubs and bars.

Just saying. I would still pick a small college with a walkable campus.

Hello, Playgrounders! I come to you from Huntsville Public Library. Rest assured, I am having fun without the internet. It's a strange concept, I know, but it just takes some getting used to. I shall be returning to the sin and vice of the big city (and the dubious moral influences of the Playground) this Saturday, the 29th. See you then!

So, yeah. Back to what I asked before. Should I re-dye my hair black?

What shade of black are you thinking about? Like emo black? A really dark brown color is usually more flattering, you don't want to go around looking like you painted your head with roofing tar.

Or you could go with something more unique like a dark purple or cranberry type color, but that sometimes doesn't come out as well depending on the quality of the dye and so on.

If by "emo black", you mean "so black it looks blue", then of course not. I go for a more natural-looking black.

Another Fun Fact: I just spent 10 minutes typing a text to someone. When it wouldn't capitalise "I" in the middle of the sentence, I reworked the entire sentence to not use the word "I".

I sometimes wonder if this sort of thing is normal...

Either hit the "1" four times, or—depending on the texting mode—hold down the "1" until it becomes a numeral.

Unless you have some strange artifact that is only loosely defined as a phone, in that case you're on your own.

And as for the movie:
My sister told me that some guy gets his head ripped off, so I decided I would watch the one bit that might just make me smile, casual and most likely gory violence. It is true that someone's head is ripped off.... or so it appears to be, as we never actually see the head come off, we just see a female vampire leap onto the EVIL (questionable because he's just a vampire who likes to play with his food according to my sister, doesn't seem that different to a normal vampire... or the average huntsman) vampire and try to break his neck, then we see hair fly into a fire, and then we see two other vampires dance around the fire like it's Winter Festival.

Or the well-documented opinions of people who have.

Seriously, at this point all of the flaws of Twilight are such common knowledge that the cry of "But you haven't read it!" is like saying "You've never been to the Moon! How do you know it's not made of cheese?"

Well, yes. It's still interesting though. I have been turned against this book I haven't read by the opinions of other people who haven't read it, who I have never met in real life. I couldn't base my opinion on something much further away from the source material.

Although, now I remember it, DeeRee did read it, in order to more accurately point out its flaws. Which she then did, quite convincingly.

To me, it's that "But you haven't read it!" is a cheap shot designed to keep the fans from having to actually answer criticism. If the person hasn't read it, and therefore is missing something important, then it shouldn't be a problem to prove them wrong quickly and easily. Instead, though, all you get is "You haven't read it, you can't complain until you've read it!" Which allows the fans to just put their fingers in their ears and ignore any negative criticism.

I thought it was more the fact they were idiots and decided to have too many children that caused them to become bitter, twisted people.

But, hey, that they were idiots also explains an initially inadvisable marriage.

You know what I've just realised?

By the time our kitchen and bathroom are completey finally done - paint utterly dry and everything - it'll be less than a week until I leave.
Somehow I find that strangely demoralising . . . It means that I might as well have my first bath/shower in a bath at uni.

Stupid rules. What to bring, what not to bring, rules on how and when you can use what you were able to bring.

And that idiot neighbour down the road is playing vexingly loud rap music. Argh. Even worse, it's Vanilla Ice. The only reason I even know that much is because I can recognise the bass beat from Under Pressure they stole from Queen.

Just wanted to let you know"? They would not have been pleased. I now have copies of everything from the Odyssey to the Qur'an to the Bhagavad-Gita (which is what I'm reading right now).
