View Full Version : Art update?

I've noticed in the new strip (673) that Roy now has a little v-shaped cut on his armor, exposing a bit of his chest. This leads me to believe that there's an art update all around. Can anyone notice anything else?

Haley's Hair.:smallamused: Nah just kidding, I think we all noticed that.

Haley's bowstring is now grey, not black.

Also, I think the default speech text size got a touch smaller, though I can't be sure.

I think you're right. I had noticed that it was a little harder to read, but didn't take the trouble to figure out why. :smalltongue:

I think the 'V' in Roy's armour is improved ventilation. It is a Desert, afterall.

Also, I think the panel borders are slightly wider.

If you look at the tent flaps there's *gasp* shading!

And inside the tents! We'll have to watch out for that Shadowdancer!

Hey maybe the giant got a raise?

Hey maybe the giant got a raise?
Nah... it's just that I recently bought all the books and the Giant is now swimming in money ;)

I'm amazed no one has mentioned the crazy-new multicolor action lines yet. Those are awesome.

This comic has the only desert background in so long it feels like an upgrade in itself.

Well, indeed!

But a... cut in armor that exposes a bit of chest? That is a bit weird.

And wearing armor on a naked chest is rather hardcore.

Maybe it's something else?

Nah, they've always been like that.

There's a lot of speech in this comic--it had to be smaller to fit it all in. Doesn't mean all the text is going to be that size going forward.

Rich will continue making tiny changes, until finally in the very last comic they will be completely photorealistic.

I can't believe I didn't noticed anything! Yeah, shadows!
I'm waiting for the ultimate art upgrade to see Haley in another bath scene and enjoy it

Also, I don't know if this counts, but Blackwing is clearly on V's shoulder. Good to know he'll be in the comic more.

Nah, they've always been like that.

Really? They look a little different this time around. But that might just be the background.

They only change if there's a drastic contrast of background colours.

Such as when Backwing pops in #672 (although I'm sure I've seen them before that.)

Blackwing actually doesn't appear in 172 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0172.html), but the movement lines there are black instead of the current blue.

172? I clearly said 672.

I am not sleep deprived!!

I know you meant 672, I just happened to think mentioning 172 was fitting because of the current discussion about the color of the action lines. :smalltongue:

And I agree with Spiryt. Wearing an armor straight on the skin in a desert is hardcore.

I know! His class is relevant again, after hundreds more strips of not.

Yeah it requires fortitude saves, but Roy and Durkon can make them at their level.

I agree. Gives the comic a fresh look, somehow.

Nah, they've always been like that.

Not quite. They were black until the art update after the starmetal arc. Compare 189 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0189.html) and 200 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0200.html).

But yeah, they've been here a long time.
