Hello Giantitp Forums, long have I browsed here looking for advice on matters, and I have finally come asking, am I being to harsh?
A friend of mine is creating his own race, the Foxfolk. I have been trying to limit the abilities of make it yourself races, making them more a play of passion and roleplay then of a power boost, so I ask for advice on my decisions.

Originally he wanted this:
Fox Folk Racial Stats:
-+3 Dex +3 Int +2 Cha -2 Con
-Base Speed: 40ft
-lowlight vision
-Racial Skills: Hide +2, Lis +2, Move Silently +2
-Langs: Vulpin, Common, Elf
-Favoured Class: Ranger
-AC bonus +1
-Level adjustment +1 (penalty of 1 level)
Size: Medium
Base Height: M: 3"6' F: 3"4' +2d4
Base Weight: 65lbs * 1d6

But I have argued for a slight change and lessening of the abilities;
Fox Folk Racial Stats:
-+3 Dex +3 Int -2 Con -2 Wis
-Base Speed: 40ft
-lowlight vision
-Racial Skills: Hide +2, Lis +2, Move Silently +2
-Langs: Vulpin, Common, Elf
-Favoured Class: Wizard
-AC bonus +1
-Level adjustment +1 (penalty of 1 level)
Size: Medium
Base Height: M: 3"6' F: 3"4' +2d4
Base Weight: 65lbs * 1d6

Not much but this choice was based on
Tiefling characters possess the following racial traits.

+2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma.
Medium size.
A tiefling’s base land speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision out to 60 feet.
Racial Skills: Tieflings have a +2 racial bonus on Bluff and Hide checks.
Racial Feats: A tiefling gains feats according to its class levels.
Special Attacks (see above): Darkness.
Special Qualities (see above): Resistance to cold 5, electricity 5, and fire 5.
Automatic Languages: Common, Infernal. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Halfling, Orc.
Favored Class: Rogue.
Level adjustment +1.

Any Feedback would be much appreciated!

I would just lower the Int and Dex bonuses to +2, nothing in D&D uses +'s in odd numbers for racial adjustments to ability scores, but other than that it seems fine.

Or swap one up to 4, reducing the other to 2. Tieflings are on the underpowered side of LA+1, and their only real strength is outsider type.

It's basically an elf, with +1 dex, +3 int, +2 cha, and +1 NA, losing racial profs and elven sense abilities. For 1 LA, that's nothing.

I would suggest:

Fox Folk Racial Stats:
-+2 Dex +2 Int -2 Con -2 Wis
-Base Speed: 40ft
-lowlight vision
-Langs: Vulpin, Common, Elf
-Favoured Class: Wizard
-Level adjustment +0
Size: Small (with all benefits granted by small sized)

and give it too him without a level adjustment as its fairly basic. UNLESS this character is essentially trying to play and Anime character in which case

Fox Folk Racial Stats:
-+2 Dex +2 Int -2 Con -2 Wis
-Base Speed: 40ft
-lowlight vision
-Racial Skills: Hide +2, Lis +2, Move Silently +2
-Langs: Vulpin, Common, Elf
-Favoured Class: Druid (easiest compromise between ranger and wizard)
-Alternate form: as the "tibit" class feature but with a fox instead of a cat.
-Level adjustment +1
Size: Medium
Base Height: M: 3"6' F: 3"4' +2d4
Base Weight: 65lbs * 1d6

thats jsut what i'd do though. its your game, honestly it's your call.

Thanks fo the reply Blue Warlock, Your suggestion is noted a appreciated.

Thanks fo the reply Arbitrarity, do you mean that I should allow his previous build?

Thanks fo the reply ShadowsGrnEyes, Your first suggestion honestly sounds the best, making the creature of small stature with a base speed of 40 sounds fantastic, atleast to me. Your Suggestion Is noted and appreciated.
