However wouldn't it be quite easy to spot those "guards" and most of their equipment via heat-sensors?

Mmmmmmmm, delicious stale news.

A quick Google search shows that these exact same stories already did the rounds of the MSM in Aug/Sept 2008, and that they've been the stuff of toker media commonplace since at least 2006. :smallamused:

Or you can legalize the substance in question so that it becomes uneconomical for gangs to produce it on the black market.

And the National Forests are HUGE, and there are a lot of them. The total National Forest Acreage is about twice the area of Germany (188m acres).

The problem is the gangs will buy out and/or kill anyone who attempts such a thing. Plus it would make parents go loco.
