What magic items (other than glove of dex) are there around that would give a character an iniciative boost.

A wand of Nerveskitter. A Dagger with the Warning Property (you only need to carry it on you, you don't need to wield it). Both of those are +5. Belt of Battle provides +2.

Lucky Start feat from CScn lets you reroll init checks.

The Eager weapon enchantment also adds to Initiative.

IIRC, some sandals from Complete Champion also adds, the same ones that help against fatigue and exhaustion.

Cloak of Charisma. This one only works if you've taken leadership to gain a Marshall who bumps your initiative with his cha. Why take improved initiative when you can have one of these?

Not entirely on topic, but on of the players in my group once mistook Crystal Mask of Dread to provide a +10 competence bonus to Initiative instead of Intimidate. Needless to say he had quite an impressive init mod :smalltongue:

Speaking of which, an item with White Raven Tactics is a pseudo-initiative boost, and Moment of Alacrity is a flat +20 boost (but you have to activate it, so it changes your initiative for next round and after).

My version of the MIC it says the following about the Warning property:

A warning weapon grants you a +5 insight bonus on initiative checks as long as it is held.

Emphasis mine.

Yeah, carry it around and get the benefits. Then, when your turn starts, drop it and draw your real weapon.

A Ring of Anticipation, from Drow of the Underdark, lets you roll initiative twice and take the higher result.

Yeah, carry it around and get the benefits. Then, when your turn starts, drop it and draw your real weapon.

My favored way is to put it on armor or shield spikes.
