I have a question for you all those who play Exalted, what tactics would you use to defeat the Emissary of Nexus?

The Solar circle group in the game I play in has gotten into a hairy situation, a basic lose everything scenario. We have a Killer Archer, an excellent melee guy, a sorceror (who may probably cast The Flying Guillotine), a knife thrower and a lesser archer type Solar.

Now basically we're in the same corridor as him, basically being given a proposition that will make us lose out on lots of stuff, including some of our own artifacts.

I figure that though maybe one or two of us may die, that we may be able to beat him down because though the Emissary is super old, he can't defend against everything.

So what tactics would you use to defeat the Emissary, or someone like the Emissary?

It depends on which theory of the Emissary your Storyteller is using. The cannonical Emissary has managed to defeat Jacint, the Prince Upon the Tower, one of Adorjan's own souls, in battle. Although Jacint is one of the weakest of Third Circle Demons, he's no pushover.

If you storyteller has him as the last Solar from the First Age, you need to rely upon mote attrition to win this battle. Keep your perfects open and wait for him to commit to offense before hitting him with anything big.

If the Emissary is the 6th Maiden, you are fighting one of the Celestial Incarnae. Try not to die too messily.

If the Emissary uses any other theory, you can probably get by without too much trouble on just your perfect defenses and your natural dice pools.

Heh heh, that's the thing; we're not sure which version of the Emissary it is. We're fairly certain that the Emissary is at the very least the Last Solar of the 1st age, though the Emissary could very well be more.

We don't know because we never thought of facing the Emissary or interacting him. I doubt the DM planned it because it was something foolish the Twilight did to try and talk to one of the council that they got arrested. They escaped from their torture cells and have come across Kratz and the Emissary, with Kratz speaking the whole time dangling an object that the circle had been looking for.
(We got arrested because the Twilight lied to the low level government officials when trying to gain an immediate audience with a council member by saying that the object they were looking for related to the Control Panel of the City, an artifact that can move parts of the city. He claimed that there was a fae bomb that was in danger of going off and that the object with the control panel would help them find it and remove it. Needless to say... that wasn't a good idea.)

Well, then aproach as though you have a chance, but play smart. Focus on stunting every action to keep your motes and Willpower high and make sure you always use a perfect defense against his attacks.

See if you can trade off the job of tanking him every now and then. If you can do that, you'll make your effective mote pool bigger and might have enough staying power to exhaust a First Age Solar. Do not attack before he is out of motes, as he will have "does not count as a Charm use" perfects.

Be aware that you are not getting away from this fight without flaring your anima banner. If you had cover before, it is now going to be blown.
