View Full Version : Quick question about Animal Companions?

Is there anyway within the standard 3.5 rules to get a druid regular every day insects for animal companions? And following that, where would the statistics be?

I ask because I have a burning need to set up some sort of creepy spidery/waspy druid for a BBEG. That, and statting up The Pain from MGS3...

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I don't have my head on straight lately.

I guess just give them a swarm animal companion and burn a feat on it or something. Since it's a BBEG, it shouldn't matter too much.

...a single, small insect? No. That simply wouldn't be very useful and as such, rules for it don't exist (really, most creatures under the size of a rat lack stats). However, the giant versions and swarms are both fair game. By the sound of it, swarms sound closer to what you're after.

See here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20040705a). You have option of Centipedes or Locust.

Eh, I guess.

I probably have to homebrew swarms for the various insects that aren't statted out though. Especially since Hellwasps appear to be different than wasps in general.

My real problem with swarms is that there aren't really that many of them. I was hoping for a quick way to avoid work, but such is life.

Apparently Eldariel's druid-fu is better than mine. Ah well.

Actually, they do. Child of winter + Vermin companion from Eberron Campaign Setting. There is also a Vermin wildshape, but all of this suck in comparison with the normal druid.

They're all Giant Vermins; they're also gained through the ACF in the link, though the ones linked require no feats. To my knowledge, there are no rules for standard-sized mundane spiders, flies or such.
