So, I'm building my beatstick cleric, and I'm noticing something: I don't really like any of the 10th level items. Being that I'm 9th level, and thus getting an 8th, a 9th, and a 10th level item, how do I resolve not really wanting any 10th level items, but liking multiples of the 8th and 9th?

Trade down your 10th for a 9th or an 8th.

Unless you meant something like getting 2 8ths or something for your 10th in which case you'd have to talk to your DM.

Nah, trading a 10th to get 2 8ths wouldn't be balanced. I was just wondering if there were a provision for getting the difference in gold or something.

Maybe you should ask your DM if you can trade the item itself for an equivelant amount of money to spend on items of lower levels: it's what my DM does when we don't see anything we like for one of our slots.

so
10 = 9 +3 or 8+5 [+2]
