View Full Version : Warforged holy warrior's alignment?

For a campaign in the near future, I'm creating a gestalt Warforged Archivist/Crusader. The entire group is designing the world together, to simulate knowledge of our homeland. My character hails from the Warforged Free State, a mountainous country inhabited primarily by warforged, as the name might suggest. (No, I don't know any author named Stephen Hunt. Don't be ridiculous.) The idea behind my character is this: he used to be a scholar who specialised in holy writings and the like. He didn't pay respect to any god, as he didn't consider divine spellcasters to be sufficient proof of dieties in a world where wizards ran around with similar powers and no patron god, but he was fascinated by the idea. Then some god started granting him heaps of divine power, and told him to go smite something. He has no idea what god granted him these abilities, nor why any god would prefer an atheist robot to some devout choirboy. He's still gonna do it, though.

He's also quite insane. He's learned how to sleep, and enjoys it. He plans on insisting on his own room at the inn, so that the others don't see his private parts. ("But... you're a robot. And you aren't wearing clothing anyway...") So, what alignment should he be? I really can't decide.

Is this Eberron? If so he is talking to himself and not terribly stable ... so chaotic.

Awesome concept is awesome. I approve.

Definitely seems Chaotic in the respect that he would just stop being an atheist and go smite something--but there's also the sense of purpose he has that could be considered Lawful (although devotion is definitely not exclusive to Law)... what does the deity want him to smite, and what is the diety's alignment? That could help us decide.

He's still an atheist. He just figures he might as well do something useful with these awesome powers he got given.

As for what he's been asked to smite, and who's doing the asking? I'm thinking some kind of trickster god who thought it'd be a laugh. I'm not sure what he's been asked to smite, though.

Definitely Chaotic, in that vein. Especially considering how unconventional his personality is for his race.

So Atheist as not following a god, atheist in hates god, or what?

Obvioiusly he can't be not believing in a god since one granted him power and talked to him.

I'd say he is True Nuetral.

Obvioiusly he can't be not believing in a god since one granted him power and talked to him.Given the character's description, I'm not so sure about this.

I'm thinking C-whatever(because, you know, insane), though alignment is more than a bit vague even in cases where the character has cleanly defined motives, let alone for this guy.

Note:Neither of these is actually Atheist.
Hence the next sentence. And atheist isn't capitalized, a complaint I level while starting a sentence with a conjunction.

Without further details, I'd say Chaotic Neutral. He sounds like someone with no moral leanings whatsoever, and also rather random and unpredictable. But more information would be required to make a qualified decision, as well as a rounded character.
