View Full Version : Gestalt Arena test duel

A towering figure in a dark robe enters the room where you have been milling around sizing up the competition. His face is completely obscured by his hood. He raises both hands to get your attention and speaks in a deep voice.
WHALE, Erika. You have been chosen to fight. Prepare yourselves! With that he brings his hands down and the two of you find yourself transported to the arena (http://excessivefreetime.org/arena/arena3.html)

OOC:
You've got time for one swift action and one standard action before you get transported in case you need to adopt a stance or activate an item.

On the map, green is open terrain, yellow is difficult terrain, red/brown is the cliffs (10ft, Climb DC20, blocks LoS). Arena has a 60 foot ceiling.

Opening post should have an initiative roll, anything you said after he called your name and what, if anything you did with the 'surprise round' before being transported. After that, start fighting in initiative order.

NOTE: I totally copied this from the other duel thread.

A seven-foot tall figure appears in the arena, completely covered in her hooded black robe but still obviously female and humanoid. She appears to be shifting in and out of the shadows of the world, continually changing positions.

OOC:
[roll0]

Darkness is cast on the inside of the cloak beforehand. This has no effect on the battle other than allowing Erika to function in the light of day-I am not sure if the black cloak is enough of a cover according to Libris Mortis rules.

A claw grows from my left foot.

Taking a 5 foot step towards you, to be followed with a full round attack. Low hits assuming you have some type of concealment affect that Blindsight doesn't defeat.

Not done yet, I'll add it all together. You're immune to ability damage and energy drain right? I'm just gonna assume you are because you're a vampire.

EDIT: I don't know your AC or if you have any type of concealment soooo.... I'll add it up then.

Position: AD29

The cowled figure dodges most of the blows. Of those that do land, three simply pass through her as if she weren't there and two land but deal no damage, as if they've hit an iron wall. While not wearing any armor, the figure must be otherwise resilient to blows.

OOC:
Most fail to hit touch AC. Five do but 3 of them miss due to miss chance and 2 land against her natural armor. Is your turn over yet?

FishAreWet
2009-09-09, 06:01 PM
OCC: What the miss chance? If it's a Blur my blindsight negates it. And yeah that's my turn sorry for being late.

go ahead, your turn.

Belial_the_Leveler

Moving with such grace that she leaves no opening through which Whale can attack, the black-robed woman flickers forward, her moves little more than a blur. Whale finds it near impossible to predict her steps as she seems to glide in and out of her own shadow, near-impossible to dodge even as her cowled face reaches at him. Strange as it may seem, the woman looks like she is about to take a bite out of him.

OOC:
Auto-success in tumbling away any AoOs for movement. Miss chance is from blinking which means you are automatically flat-footed against her (I think) but she also has a 20% miss chance. Note that since she's ethereal and not merely invisible, effects that don't extend to the ethereal plane wouldn't negate the miss chance or flat-footedness. (e.g. blindsight doesn't extend to the Ethereal but normal see invisible does)

I'm sorry I mixed up my Touch and Flatfooted. I have Uncanny Dodge soooo yeah. Is that the end of your turn? Where did you move too? Remember that I'm 10x10.

The black-robed woman suddenly springs forth in a flurry of blows, using swipes of her hands locked into claws, elbows and knees, even her bite.

OOC: since I only hit on a 20, I'm gonna roll only it, without modifiers for attack;

WHALE scoffs at the blow, and focuses on the woman. He moves from a standstill with a sudden flash, unleashing everything he's got.

Last one critical, roll to confirm... [roll0]

I don't know your AC so go ahead and add up the damage yourself I guess :smalltongue:

And unless you do some crazy immediate action **** that ends my turn.

Belial_the_Leveler

Even as the too large dwarf's blows land, he feels as if he's striking at the cold, inanimate walls of a castle, not living flesh. And even as his monstrous hands retract, he can feel much of the damage fading away.

Similarly launching herself in a whirlwind of strikes, the cloaked woman strikes at her larger opponent several times.

OOC:
I am currently 27 HP down. Again rolling only d20 for attacks.

All the above miss, I think.

Initially I stopped posting because I was pressed for time but now I'm beginning to think we can't harm eachother at all. Both have fast healing, I have damage reduction and you insanely high HPs and both are immune to the special attacks of the others.

I guess if we played some 500 rounds, either WHALE could happen to roll enough 20s in one round to kill Erika or the vile damage from her attacks would tally up to his HP total and kill him but that's a ridiculously long fight and it would be pure luck who would win first.

FishAreWet
2009-09-17, 11:29 AM
Yeah I didn't realize how silly this would get ahaha.

You'd probably end up winning actually. I'm going to lose temporary buffs in about 22 rounds which means I lose 7 AC or so and +9 to hit.
