You know, it's one thing when the Daily Mail is sensational and wrong, but it's another thing all together to fall for an 80 90 year old hoax. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cottingley_fairies)

Even assuming that the photo isn't shopped, it looks more like a diffraction of light through the needles on the tree than anything else.

Oh, sure, that's what the fairies WANT you to believe...

It doesn't even need to be shopped. Why does everyone go straight to looking for pixels when a perfectly good low tech solution like a bulb behind a cutout would work just as well.

Reminds me of a guy who made a plaster mold of a dinosaur skeleton eating a caveman. People just wouldn't belive that maybe, it was a "real" picture, and not a photoshop.

Let's review the "facts."

1.) Glowing body
2.) Round body
3.) Obvious wing-like structures
4.) Four radial streaks
5.) Not much larger than a bird

Obviously, this isn't Celia (who isn't a fairy anyway, she's a type of air elemental, IIRC)... it's...

What's that?

Dark Faun

It's Navi, Link's fairy in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Her purpose is to teach you the controls and point out the clues in the environment. She is mainly remembered as an annoying critter shouting "Hey listen!" every minute, which can have dire consequences (http://hail-nekoyasha.deviantart.com/art/Volume-16911806).

That's Navi from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Once again, I feel like I'm the only person who wasn't particularly annoyed by a character. First Wesley Crusher, now Navi.

I didn't mind Navi except on second/third/fourth/etc. playthroughs. When I already knew what the heck I was doing.

Sure, but what does the Protocols of the Elders of Zion have to do with it?

That one dates back to 1864, it's a a bit older than 90 years.

It might be attached to the tree. In the end, it might be an actual puppet that was THEN photoshopped for a better result.

Scott Ramsoomair made a strip about the "hey! listen!" annoyance, it should be in the VGcats archives.

Agreed. Then you want to reach through the screen and strangle her tiny fairy neck.

It's obviously a weather balloon made out of swamp gas with a side helping of the northern lights.

That depends. Does it continuously shout "LISTEN!"?

This comment wins, or at least ties with Navi.

Good gods, it's true! It looks a bit like a photoshop, but it would be too obvious, so it must be real! :smalleek:
