I'm looking to retrain my Sorcerer's Acid Orb at-will (my other at-will is Chaos Bolt) into either Burning Spray or Blazing Starfall, but I'm not sure which to take. The reason I'm retraining is that I'm not getting any real use out of Acid Orb. I thought I'd take it so I'd have a ranged basic attack to use in case our Bard used a power than allowed us extra attacks like that. But as it turns out, our Bard DOESN'T have any such powers.

So, which should I take? Thanks.

Burning Spray. It's useful close-up, since you've already got Chaos Bolt to handle your ranged at-will quota.

Yeah I'll second burning spray.

I was thinking of going with Burning Spray, as the other spell just seemed too weak. But I was asking anyway just in case.

Thanks.

Actually, I would recommend Blazing Starfall over Burning Spray. Sure, it does two points less damage (1d4 vs 1d8), but note that Radiant damage is the most common vulnerability among monsters, whereas Fire is the most common resistance.

Also, when combined with Enlarge Spell it becomes 5x5, compared to the spray's 4x4.

Enlarge spell requires a wizard multiclass to access though.

And 13 Wisdom, which is a bad deal for a Sorcerer, all in all.

So it does. It is by no means a must-have; however, given the many good blast/burst effects a sorcerer gets, I would at least consider it. Having one tertiary stat at 13 is viable for most races.

Well, I'm already planning to multiclass as a Rogue in order to go Daggermaster.
