Hey all.

I was watching some random anime last night with some people, and i remembered hearing about around 2006ish.

It was going to be an anime that was released in the US an Japan at the same time. IT was going to be, like Witch Hunter Robin not to "anime" looking (part of the prerelease information, no tmy phrasing)

I THINK it was going to be, like WHR about people working for a vaguly defined government task force.

The only thing i recall for sure, was that the protagonist was a woman, who was wearing WAY to much eye-makeup.

This ring any bells?

I am currently under the weather and have had WAY to much nigh-quill, so i MIGHT be making it up, but if im not, or if parts of this sound right to anyone, plz let me know :)

Don't know about the other details you mention, but way too much eye makeup?

Yup. Gotta be Ergo Proxy. The only anime I can think of were "too much eye makeup" is an adequate description.

It's pretty good, unless you're alergic to pretentious symbolism.

My opinion was that it was very well animated and the art was great, but the story never interested me much. It's only about a season long anyway, 23 episodes wiki tells me. I had a sub that explained the more obscure cultural references, try to get your hands on that.

Yeah well... later on we learn that the real protaganist is a small robot girl who gained sentience.

Hmm.... the woman is still important throughout. Though, really... there are several characters of about equal importance.
