I think Demonia's asking how Vulion thinks he botched the anatomy. The only way it can be considered "botched" is if it was supposed to be a guy.

I'm not qualified to judge...I can't see exactly what's wrong with it. Could you explain WHAT you think is botched, Vulion?

Also, do you ever have any of your friends model for you?

That bust looks really off. I think the main problems are the nose and the cheeks. All your characters seem to have extreme points to their noses, and their cheekbones protude quite a bit. Could be my personal preference talking but your faces all seem to be similar in that way.

Why shouldn't he quote the image? :smallconfused: It's spoilered, so it's not going to stretch screens or lengthen the page unnecessarily, and it can be useful to see the what someone is talking about directly, without having to scroll up however far.

If they see that same image being requested, instead of downloading it a second time they'll simply show you the one already in the web cache. So putting an image on the same page multiple times won't really use any more bandwidth.

They'll not only load that image, but every other uncached image on that page. What he said. The legs are too short, the arm is too long and the profile of the torso looks too thin and too short. Plus, I don't like how the skirt came out.

You have to remember that Elagune's manga-style interpretation of OotS was very popular. Not to put down Vulion in any way, but Elagune's thread has received nearly twice the number of views as this one, despite being alive for less than half the time, and active (that is, Elagune posted art in it) for a scant four weeks.

In addition, the people using his hosting for avatars/signature banners (some of which continued to do so even after he asked everyone to use their own mirrors) would be costing him a significant chunk of bandwidth across the board. Heck, my avatar alone is averaging something like 20 000 'views' each month, and I'm not a particularly prolific poster at all.

Awesome. Not complaints, but once again comments on your style. Arms seem either too long or too fat, I can't quite tell. Pose is great, especially since it's a lot more dynamic than you normally do. Anyway, as I said, I'll have to colour it, maybe ink it if I can be bothered...

All in the brushes my friend. I haven't done it in a while, but I believe the brush set you want is the inking set. I use the round/triangle end or the double triangle end one depending on what I want. Or just the double round end.

Also, it looks like your doing your shading with an opaque black/grey layer...Don't :P Use a darker shade of the colour your base is, makes it look a lot better. Also put more shading in there. You're a step ahead of a lot of people in that you *use* shading, but you could do with a lot more of, it seems really flat :P
You also might want to look at your lines on the glove again, they seem pretty messy and don't make a lot of sense.

EDIT: Yeah, the artistic ink brush library. Last three options.

Honestly, I doubt it. I'm really picky about the lineart I colour. I can't even line to the standard I like to colour. That's why when I do end up colouring Vul's stuff, most of the time it's a vector colour.

It's part practice, part steady hands, and part layering. Put the dark colors down first. That way, if some of the lighter ones go on the dark, the dark still shows.

Well technically the word on its own is mainly use in the context of Pokemon. The full phrase is moe gijinka (as the WP article notes) after all....:smallbiggrin:

For the love of...just read the wikipedia article. What it describes is exactly what the word meant in this context. :smallbiggrin:

To be more specific, a gijinka is an excessively cute anthropomorphization of something. In the case of the example posted above, the pokemon "Articuno".

The way Vul has drawn them is fine, I'm just struggling to get the lines on there. The canvas rotation feature was the one reason I preferred using SAI to line stuff, but since I don't have it anymore, I have to make do with photoshop.

Vulion, I feel bad for asking of another favour of you. Especially since you just finished the last one I asked you for. Know that if you say you won't do it, I won't begrudge you at all.

With that out of way...

Remember that bard I was speaking about, some time back? She's a half elf, in her mid twenties, long black hair. She is usually smiling, not a sarcastic smile, but a genuine one. While she doesn't object to wearing armor, she feels more comfortable in plain clothes and I wouldn't mind if you draw her as such. She is pretty nondescript, save from one feature and this is her dragonmark. Mark of scribing, to be more precise. Images can be found here (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080827141028/eberron/images/b/b1/Dragonmarks_Sivis.jpg). From top to bottom, we have least, lesser, greater and siberys mark and I'm cool with you depicting her with least mark.

So far, I imagine nothing special for you. Now comes what I imagine will be the hard part. Namely, the pose. There are multiple poses in which you can draw her and I'll leave it to you to decide which one you find the easiest/most fun to draw. The only thing that matters to me is the dragonmark. I'd like for it to be visible on the picture. Since I haven't yet decided where she has it, I'm giving you an artistic freedom to draw it where it will be most convenient for you. If you want to draw it on her cheek, it's cool. Her back, cool. Her shoulder... cool as well. In short, surprise me :smallsmile: Now, as for actual pose... she could be sitting down, playing an intrument, wielding a sword, casting a spell... she does, after all, have seven classes :smallbiggrin: She is nothing if not versatile!

tl;dr: I would like you draw me a half elf bard with a visible dragonmark of scribing. The details, I'm leaving to you. I've seen enough by now that I know you won't dissapoint me... just as long as you don't make her hair curly. She has straight hairs and that's about the only details I want you to stick with.

And please... if you decide you want to draw this, take your time. I'm in no rush whatsoever and the last thing I'd want for is for you to rush.

If you can't tell what's going on there then I have essentially made a big mistake in doing the layout.

I guess I should move on to the next picture since this is is a failure, but I'll show you some small adjustments to the picture and maybe you can tell me if you perceive any differences (good or bad).

Guy; That looks better. Now it looks as if the monster is climbing up the cliff. The cliff extends to the other side of monster dude so it's a lot easier to tell what is going on. Shading is nice too.

I like it. There wasn't anything that made it clearly Maria (As opposed to any other woman with a ponytail in modern clothing), but then I realized she doesn't have much in the way of unique features or iconic items.
That said, it's very well done, and it's nice to see you experimenting with different things than standard full body views.
Thought admit it, you only drew her head because you forgot how to draw female characters with clothes.

I said my request was of Jericus, but I have a different idea instead, and honestly, it's a bit of fanservice for the ladies. His name is Edijar, Commander of a Riot Pacification Squad(as well as a few other things). He's in his upper 20s, lower 30s and is a little over 6ft tall. He's heavily muscled, has broad shoulders, an almost squared jaw, with a few days growth on it and close cropped hair. His chest is a mess of heavy scarring, though he does have some chest(and stomach) hair. In the picture, he's shirtless, holding a fryingpan and spatula while cooking food for a lady friend who stayed over, and on his hand is the wedding band from his dead wife. His face should have a slight smile and a few lines on it from his job and years.

Hey Vul. I was looking through the first thread, just because I was checking where all my quotes came from, and I have to admit, you have come a hell of a long way in terms of technical skill. Your proportions are a hell of a lot better, they're overall neater, and just look better in general. It's nice to see that your style hasn't change a whole heap to amalgamate these improvements either, something that I don't see often in art improvement.

Anyway, keep it up, I reckon there's still room for improvement there, but if your current rate is anything to go by, you should be nearing god level by the end of the year.

I don't think I'll be god level for a very long time.

As for the rate of improvement, it really depends on how much I "notice".
