Fear has won...

=-=-=--=-=-

Alright, as most of those on the Homebrew forums know I've been running a monthly monster competition for three years come next month. This October though I plan to do things a little different.

Going to let those of the forums choose the next category. Make a suggestion, or vote for another, and post both here. You may only officially choose 'one' category.

Furthermore, as a prize, Serpentine and Djinn_In_Tonic have volunteered to do an OOTSatar and trophy for of the winning entry.

Note: Votes will be tallied at noon (EST) Sep 30th and the contest begun on October 1st

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Suggestions

Devil In Plain Sight (3 votes)
- Create an evil monster which somehow hides its dangerous nature from those it interacts with.

Fear Itself (winner) (15 votes)
- Each entry must have a unique way of producing a fear-effect.

Gratuitous Gore II (8 votes)
- It's the return of the slasher flick monsters! Each entry must be grotesque, over the top horrifying with lots and lots of blood.

It's Alive! (1 vote)
- All entries should be things that are, but never should have been, ALIVE!

It's The Great Pumpkin (14 Votes)
- All entries must be evil aligned plants

Trick or Treat! (2 votes)
- All entries are capable of altering their form or using disguises to become something else.

Witchy Woman (1 vote)
- All entries must be able to use invocations, vestiges or necromancy spells.

If we can combine suggestions, Fear Itself, Gratuitous Gore II and Trick or Treat.

Actually, I think I have an idea that could pull off all of them...

Great Pumpkin

then you can add "fear itself" and "trick or treat".

Then I only need to find my notes of "Root of all Evil" (a game of mine that fell down quickly.) and I can take the BBEG directly. (yes, the root itself is a creature. and quite a nasty one too, with 10 levels of blighter.)

Or make a brand new one. also a possibility.

I vote for simply turning up the squick as high as it goes. I guess you could count that as a vote for Gratitious Gore II. Also, anyone who manages to combine multiple suggestions should get bonus points.

Make a suggestion or vote for another, post both here.
Just to be contrary (hey, it's a monster contest, right?) I'll go with the first option.

Suggestion:

It's alive!

Me two, once I created the baatorian coconut trees.
I vote for Fear itself and The great pumpkin.
Also suggestable:
Witch: Must be able to use invocations, vestiges or necromancy.
I might post up a halloween themed monster statblock not in this contest, because I just can't do internet drawings.
EDIT: Necromancy, not arcana. Sorry.

The chance (but unfortunately not the garuntee these days) to recieve feedback during the development stages is one of the primary motivations for the existance of these contests I believe.

Basically, if you've already posted it then it's not acceptable for the contest. Needs to be something you've not worked on yet.
