Just played this for the first time and really liked it. If you've ever played the Spycraft system, it's basically that, albeit very slightly simpler, and moved to a d&d-like fantasy setting. Also, right now, it all plays out of one book (or would, if the game weren't in Eberron and we weren't using the various source books for that), and plays very well indeed. One minor caveat: book is 400 pages long, and I think they're planning a second book for "master-level" classes (think "Epic handbook"). It's OGL-compliant, incidentally, although to convert various things over may require a little careful calculation.

So, a brief description of the features:

Classes: Far more versatile than 3.5's core rules, probably challenging the full spectrum available, just through a high degree of individual customisability.

Races: A much broader selection than 3.5's core rules, although the individual features of some races (not all, and certainly not humans who are far less vanilla than in 3.5) can be a little limiting.

Playing tone: Slightly more pulp than standard 3.5 (although that could be partly our DM, who likes pulp). Also, level one stuff, while fun felt a little too easy, but I think that was our DM learning the system. Waiting to see how higher-level stuff works.

Fun: Had much more of this than 3.5 as standard.
