The book doesn't mention it. I was under the impression every class was... the Beguiler (in the same book) says he is proficient with simple weapons.

its a typo, check the errata, its in there.

Not every class is proficient with simple weapons in general. Most that have proficiency with martial weapons are, though...

And yeah, it's just a typo.

As pointed out, it's corrected in the errata, but not every class gets simple weapon proficiency - Druids, Monks and Wizards do not get simple weapon proficiency; instead they get proficiency with a small selection of specific weapons.

Which, In the monks case, does not include their fists :smallbiggrin:

so monks are non proficient with their own fists eh? well that -4 to attack must really hurt :)

It would -- very much so -- if there had ever been a DM that enforced it.

Yeah, it's basically an unspoken rule that no one wants to screw over the monk that hard.
