First, I'd like someone to tell me if the Cousin Sheila thing was in OtOotPCs. If not, then this is where we put stories about what might have happened.

Be creative!

I don't think so, was there anything in the bonus sections of the books you don't see here?

No. I'd check myself, but I, sadly, do not have any of the OotS books.
If one more person confirms this, we'll go on!

Either way, she'd probably get along with aunt Judy (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0165.html) very well.

I'd say she's a oneshot gag, like Belkar's aunt.

I didn't see any mention of her in the OtOoPC's book I've got.

No she was not.

And that keeps us from writing mini-fanfics about her...how?

Speaking of which, start!

Why do you need to make fan fiction as soon as something new comes around? Somebody will probably just make something bad anyway.

If you want it, start it yourself. Instead of throwing out a one-liner that's basically screaming "As I cannot entertain myself, you have to start doing it for me!". ;)

The real question is...was Cousin Sheila morally justified?

She has never been mentioned before; and will probably never be mentioned again since she was only spoken of in the last panel.

Is it morally justified for Rich to make so many "mention once then throw away" characters?

Surprise!

Did Cousin Shelia really exist?

And fanfic request has been noted. I will deliver latter tonight

Dear Mr. Rude...
Alright. I'll do a little something. (Note that this doesn't stop you from doing one.)

I don't want to spend a few hours or something on it, so I'll just write the basic plot for now. (Which is fine.)

Sheila kills someone, only to discover that it's someont the guild's protecting. Frantic, she grabs some hair from the shower drain and scatters it at the crime scene. (It's Haley's.) Anyways, she, after the hair is identified, testifies against Haley. The only reason she wasn't convicted was because the hair was damp-which was only noticed because the weapon came from a distant place that Haley had never been to. (Let's say...Azure City.)

However, if used often enough, it might prevent a copy of this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117309), or at least limit the number of replies to the hundreds.

I have an image of a family holiday dinner where no one is speaking because everyone's having an inner monologue....:smalleek:

Does that mean that no-one in the comic put any ranks in"Multitask?"

He's got nothing on Tolkien, on that score.

Dear Mr. Rude...

If you need to say something, say it in the open. He did have a valid point. You have appeased both me and him with your paragraph-fic. Thank you.

Cousin Sheila is just like Aunt Judy--a throw-away character and highly unlikely to actually turn up again. I doubt we'll get to know anything else about her, mainly because she was meant to be a joke and we only really care about Haley and her parents when it comes to the Starshines. It's the same reason we only really care about Nale, Elan, and their father (assuming all the theories are true) when it comes to their family, or Vaarsuvius, hir mate, and hir children (you don't hear any mentions of those ranger parents, do you? Not even an image) when it comes to their family. We probably won't know the complete backstories of all the characters because either a) it'll be gratuitous and boring, or b) it would make the character too sympathetic, as in the case of Belkar. (Would we seriously find him amusing if we found out why he's so bloodthirsty? Usually, that kind of thing comes from deep psychological trauma or a neurological problem.)

1. Anacalagon was rude; he accused me of being unable to entertain myself because I made this thread.

2. Just because Sheila was a gag-based character doesn't mean that this thread is frivilous, any more than asking if Roy's attack on Miko was morally justified.

3. I want to get this thread un-slightly(?)-derailed, so if you have an idea, post it.

Incoming speculation...

I wonder if Cousin Sheila (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0681.html) is the Sheila Finkelstein (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0669.html) due to a certain one name (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OneSteveLimit) tendency?

You mean something related with the prohibited story about Haley's sexual awakening? It may be the mistery that the board have been discussing since 309 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0309.html)

I've pooled the culmination of my research on Cousin Sheila to pen a canon portrayal of her in a carefully crafted fanfic following the Three-Act Structure of storytelling:

Once upon a time, Cousin Sheila, the end.

I fail to see the rudeness there, and he smiled besides.

Anyhow, just because Cousin Sheila (apparently) framed somebody for murder, it doesn't mean it had anything to do with Haley. It could just be a well-known family secret.

I predict it will become a Noodle Incident if Haley's dad brings it up.

I interpreted as Cousin Sheila was the one framed for murder.

Since Elan's says, "It's exciting to be part of a family where they DON'T try to frame you for murder", then Cousin Sheila was almost certainly the one doing the framing.

That could just as easily mean someone in Haley's family framed Cousin Sheila.

It could mean that, but it's a stretch. Since the person in the family that did the framing is the one that invalidates Elan's statement (and is therefore the one he'd have to worry about), more than likely that would be the one that Haley named.
