I had a dream last night, and want to make a summoner villain/ adversary for my playgroup. Thing is, i'm not that concerned of the quality of his summons, but of the quantity.
I dreamt of a wizard that summoned a hundred monkeys, but I know that "Summon Monster" spells cannot summon more than, say, ten monsters.
So, can you help me out? Is there a way for a caster to summon that foolishly MANY summons? Can you point me to any optimized summoner builds?
His level should be between 10 and 20. I'm only interested into build ideas. Race, class, feats and spell combinations should do it, i'm not asking for a complete build here.
Thanks in advance!!!

I bring to thee Guidebooks galore!

Summoning Handbook (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19864066/Summoning_Handbook)

Mastering the Malconvoker (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19872758/Mastering_the_Malconvoker?num=10&pg=1)

I know you said no to a complete build so here is a rough outline.

Human Focused Specialist Wizard (Conjuration) with Rapid Summoning Variant (give up scribe scroll)

Master Specialist (you qualify at lvl 3) take it at 4.

Read the guides above and they'll give you more than they need. If you take some of the feats that grant extra summoned creatures (Fiendish Summoning Specialist) and can quicken and normal summon you could summon a whole lot of fiendish monkeys in short order.

Let's see, Sorcerer of a dragonblooded race, 10 levels of Incantatrix for Improved Metamagic, Twin Spell, Easy Metamagic (Twin Spell) (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Easy_Metamagic,all), Practical Metamagic (Twin spell) (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Practical_Metamagic,all), Arcane Thesis (Greater Arcane Fusion), Maximize spell, Easy Metamagic (Maximize Spell), Repeat Spell, Easy Metamagic (Repeat Spell), Arcane Thesis (Summon Monster IV), and Rapid Spell.

Twinned Maximized Repeated Rapid Summon Monster IV takes a 4th level slot and summons 10 monsters from the level 2 or 1 lists in the round it is cast and another 10 the next round. It takes a standard action to cast and is therefore eligible for the 4th level choice for Arcane Fusion.

Twinned Repeated Arcane Fusion takes a 7th level slot and casts the above monstrosity of a summon spell twice this round and twice the next round, plus another first level spell. Unless you really want to bother with Arcane Thesis (Summon Monster I), though, you can't use the level 1 spell for summoning here so we'll just ignore it. The result is 20 summons in round 1, 40 in round 2, and 20 in round 3.

Twinned Repeated Arcane Fusion takes an 8th level slot and casts the above metamagiced Arcane Fusion twice this round and twice the next round. It also casts a 4th level spell, which can be the Summon Monster thing. That's 60 in round 1, 160 in round 2, 140 in round 3, and 40 in round 4. A total of 400 monsters from the level 1 and 2 Summon Monster lists summoned for a single level 8 spell, and you get to fire off a few Magic Missiles or something at the same time.

Have fun.

Counting Incantatrix's prerequisite of Iron Will, this takes 11 feats. A Silverbrow Human Incantatrix will have that many at level 15. Greater Arcane Fusion is an 8th level spell and not available until level 16, however, and Arcane Thesis can't be taken for it until after that. If you are willing to resort to the Chaos Shuffle, that would make it possible at level 16. Taking a flaw at level 16 (requires specific DM approval to take a flaw after character creation, even above and beyond DM approval of flaws in the first place, but you are the DM so go ahead) would also make it possible at level 16. Otherwise you'd have to wait to level 18 to pull off the full combo, though you'd still be able to do a quarter of it or, with Versatile Spellcaster, half.

Edit: Oh yeah, you'll need a way to deal with the increased casting time for Sorcerers and metamagic, too. There are several possibilities, including Arcane Preparation, Rapid Metamagic (feat, Complete Mage), Rapid Metamagic (alternate class feature, PHBII), and Arcane Spellsurge.
