"The world is dark. This is not a two-copper philosophy mortals ponder on the truth of but a fundamental aspect of reality. It is the reason a world needs deities, immortal entities that hold the Balance and keep the darkness at bay.
Unfortunately, immortal does not mean infallible. In fact, because many deities have a link to mortal beliefs as an aspect of their existence, they can be about as petty, flawed, shortsighted, stubborn, greedy or plain stupid as these beliefs often are.
Usually, an Overpower governs the various aspects of the World, an immortal far closer to perfection than most deities. But because the aspects of the world are often in direct opposition to eachother-Order versus Chaos, Good versus Evil, Air versus Earth and so on-nobody can control them directly. Unless ofcourse they want a crash course in mass-energy conversion. Hence the need for deities that control these aspects; the Overpower only has to make sure the deities do their job.
And therein lies the problem; The war between Shar and Selune. The death of Mystryl. The war between the Imaskari high artificers and the Mulhorandi immortals. The sundering of the Seldarine pantheon. The maiming of Gruumsh by Corellon's hand. The Time of Troubles. The war of the Spider-Queen. The slaying of Mystra and the coming of the Spellplague.
One would think that immortal beings would have learned by now. But no, they squabble like children while the hold of the Darkness grows. Even I cannot tell where this will lead. And I am beginning to fear none will live to find out."
-Lord Ao, to unknown correspondent. 10 years before the Fall-

"Unfortunately, you are right. And fortunately, you are also wrong. Suffice it to say, we shall live in interesting times. Or, we have lived in them. Or maybe yet, we are living them already. This no-beginning-no-end gig confuses me at times."
-Unknown correspondent, to Lord Ao-

The breaking of the Spellplague would lead to an upheaval that would reunite two worlds and bring a new, stronger balance to the world of Toril. But there are those out of space and beyond time that search for those moments of turmoil, those fractions of eternity where the appointed guardians of the world have less than total control.
One such entity, its identity still unknown, managed to slip into the world unobserved and draw the course of events out of their preordained course. The upheaval did not subside. The reunion of two worlds never happened. Magic and the fabric of reality never healed, never grew into the balanced point it should have. And as Toril spiraled out of control, the Enemy struck. Having little control of their powers and unaware of the Enemy's attack-as it was interwoven into their own stuggles and natural disasters-the deities lost.

A century has passed since then. The shape of the world is unrecognisable; what was once mountains may now be ravines or even oceans and the deepest seas now reach for the skies, torrents of red-hot magma having formed mountains that belch fire and destruction. The sky is scorched, a grey-black starless mass looming over the world. The sun barely glows through it but the world still grows hot despite the darkness.
Civilisation is no more; over three quarters of the mortal races have perished. What remains is hiding in forests and caves, searching in vain for sanctuary against the horrors that roam the lands, for every monster imaginable has been spawned by the upheaval.
Some mortals still struggle to endure this nightmarish world, heroes and pioneers fighting against the monsters. The Dark Enemy is letting them. After all, everybody needs entertainment, even Star-Spawned abominations that have descended from the Void upon umbral wings.
Seeing the aspects of their power over the world twisted to the Enemy's control, the surviving deities have realised they must fight to win back their mastery of the Cosmos. Hiding in avatars, weakened and on the run from the Enemy, not many have the courage to do what needs to be done. But a few are still willing to fight.

Deep in a valley between the pieves of a mountain cleaved in two lies the village of Demon's Gorge. A small community of a thousand mortal souls leaving in one of the few safe havens remaining, a place where monsters seem to avoid, the place has survived for several decades. But the forces of the Enemy flow in the stones beneath the village, a sure sign to immortal eyes that the Enemy is doing something important in this place. Those immortals brave enough or foolish enough to raise their fist in defiance now come in a secret gathering just outside the village in preparation for a blow against the Enemy's hold.
In a small ravine hidden by twisted vegetation and black fumes oozing from the very ground, a secret gathering is about to take place, the first step in the road of freedom...

Those few who knew her at all, knew her as Sylvia. She seems a simple peasant woman, with a ruddy complexion, and hands that have clearly seen hard labor all their lives. She is plain with brown eyes and hair, in simple non-whitened homespun clothing. She shies away from people's touch, seemingly nervous about what others might do to her. She seems unusually adept at avoiding people's touch, but gives the impression it's reflex, born of long abuse. She briefly picks up a stone that catches her eye, frowns at it, and sets it back down. She continues on, going about her business, eventually making her way away from the society where she was always on the outskirts, never penetrating. Slowly, she makes her way to the destined gathering place, well away from prying eyes.

Using Telekinesis to occasionally pick up stuff to help with the "solid" illusion. Standard action to invoke it, taking 10 on a bluff check (for 46) to make everything line up and seem normal.

Also taking ten on a Disguise Check, for 39 (+17 Charisma, +10 Disguise Self, +2 Bluff synergy acting "in character")

Jack looked up from his work. As a trapsmith, it was his job to ensure any bigger horrors that roam these lands stay away from his village and any smaller creatures end up dinner. It was a hard life, but a good one. What he could discern from the monotone sky told him it was time. He bade his fellow workers good day, and said that he would see them on the morrow. He set out from town knowing this was a lie...he may never see any of them again.

Six feet of slender build, he made his way across the blasted landscape. Grimy winds tossed his short brown hair and blew flecks of ash into his blue eyes. He wished for some water to clear his vision, but wouldn't chance a rummage through his bag. Rubbing his eyes and pulling his cloak up to shield him, he pressed on. Telling time by the sky was difficult at best, and he could already be late.

Orman (Faulir)

He walked slowly, as he always did these days, with his head hung low with his cloak pulled up over it, hiding his face, and his blood red glaive held at his right side pointing towards the ground. His cloak, once a bright white, had become dirty and through his neglect became a dingy grey. His face and hair, while they were hidden by his hood, showed signs of age. His hair was becoming grey, becoming more prevalent in his warbraids and his goatee seemingly by the second. His black muscled cuirass was scratched, from one too many engagements with the enemy. The only garments he wore which aren't showing some form of wear are his white shirt, black pants, and brown boots, as he replaces them often enough to keep them in relatively good condition. Hidden in his pocket is his little friend, a psycrystal. He keeps it out of sight and out of mind, he needs not attract more attention with flying gemstones following him wherever he goes.

Upon his fall, he had taken up the appearance of one of his worshipers known as Orman, who had become a broken man upon the fall of his and the other gods. In Orman's place he had earned a small reputation as a defender of what little of the humanoids there was left, but this usually only came into play in minor assaults, for he dared not to show his true self to the enemy, lest they strike him down.

He had become quiet this past century. He did not speak unless spoken to, and even then he seemed less than happy to do so, so most everyone he encountered tended to simply be happy for his assistance and then left him to think, or brood, or whatever it is that he does in his silence.

However, it was no longer time to sit and wait. The time for action was fast approaching, so he began his slow progress towards the gathering between him and those that he once called his peers, friends, and allies

A tall man on ragged old clothes walks whitout hurries. He's both well built and hansome, yet carries a simple quarterstaff, and doesn't reveal any particular valuables besides a golden ring on his right hand and a small pouch at his leather belt.

Despite the dark scenery, the man walks tall and sings something to himself. The exact lyric is hard to catch, but the melody is captivating, filling the listeners with hope and dreams of great things to come.

Human form, as gargantuan dragons aren't exactly very discrete.

He is lofty man, appears to be human, standing around 6'6"with lanky arms and legs. In his height, he weighs little with skinny arms and very thin legs. A tight face, high bones holding his big cheeks and large eyes all come together to form a very warming face. His head is smooth, no hair at all. His eyes are blue, as is his skin, but hardly. If you were to look closely you would notice his scars. They are not battle wounds, as they are symmetrical, which run from his hands up to his chest, and down his legs. It seems to be one long scar outlining his entire skeletal structure. He wears the scar with no shame or pride, often forgetting that he has it.

He is wearing a simple bleach white tunic which ends right above his knees and a plain brown belt, made of rope. On his belt holds many books, and a small bag. In his bag appears to be even more books, almost all of which look the same from the outside. The one exception is one of the ones he holds on his belt, which is garnished in silver and gold. He wears a small string around his forehead, which never comes off, not even when he sleeps. He only owns his one tunic and belt, which he takes great care in keeping clean.
He carries an ivory cane, which is inscribed with all sorts of runes and writing. Those who could recognize the writing know that it has psionic scripts, magical runes, demonic whispers and celestial choirs carved deeply into it. On the head of the cane holds his Psicrystal, disguised to look like just a crystal headed cane. He has spent his time fallen writing in his books. He always seems to be in a good mood, especially when he's writing. But if anyone asks him about his writing his mood worsens.

A shadow streaks across a forsaken land. Like a lost soul in the dim light of a broken world it searches for others of its kind. In the protective shadows of a split mountain dwell some of the unfortunate survivors of this desolate place and therein may lie the last vestiges of the fallen divine.

As it waits watching with the eye unseen a few are gathering away from the others. With a guarded spark of hope the shadow swiftly moves toward a shared destination... and maybe a shared fate.

Termissa slowly emerges from the wooded area near the gathering place, surprisingly gracefully as well. Her short, brown hair is surprisingly flowing, seemingly blown by a nonexistant breeze. Her face is accentuated by her ears, whose tops come to a point. In her hand is a longbow endorned with V-shaped engravings. The leather quiver on her back is ornate, but doesn't seem to have very many arrows in it. Her upperbody is topped with a white vest with silver lining and goggles. Despite the light color, she can still hide quite well. She looks at the others who have already gathered and acknowledges them with a silent nod.

One must assume that the woman was once beautiful, her once raven-black hair now more a misty gray than any other colour, her tattered red cloak clutched tightly by a bony hand bent to a claw.
Still she is bearing herself erect, pride speaking from her posture and the way her dark eyes glitter in the shadow, beneath a deeply-lined forehead.
On bare feet she is walking over ash and mud, blood trickling from a dozen tiny cuts on her legs, but she does not seem to notice it.
She, who used to be queen, is now a mere shadow of her former self, a simple peasant woman, to proud to beg, to old to work. Or so she presented herself.

A completely ordinary middle-aged woman walks along the path of the what once would have been deemed a small town; these days, it's not considered nearly as small as it would have. The woman appears to the normal eye to be nothing more than a normal human, primarily because she is, indeed, just a normal human. Even the most powerful of divination magics would only reveal the power of her sorcery, and she has taken steps to mask even that from all but the most powerful and determined of eyes.

The body is familiar to her, but one that has not been used extensively for generations. Standing just shy of six feet tall, her hair hangs freely at about shoulder length. It is a light brown color that is almost bronze, with slightly darker eyes to match. Her manner appears casual, but every footfall is carefully placed. It will be some time before walking becomes easy again; it hard enough remembering to breathe normally in public.

As she approaches the agreed-upon meeting place, she does not try to hide her approach, but neither is she so obvious as to take the direct route. Sticking to the main path, hoping that this isn't a trap, and prepared if it is, Ireonna Loyalar joins those already assembled.

Made one last change to my sheet to include the Nondetection spell. I realized belately without it, Ireonna would light up like a christmas tree under a simple Detect Magic.

She is currently in human form. For those of you with pre-cast divinations: she is a human, and beating the nondetection DC (35) will allow you to see spells and equipment. Spell currently active are the usual buffs, minus Dragonskin for obvious reasons. Caster level 20, dispel caster level 28:

"Sylvia" nods at those who follow her footsteps into the meeting place, one by one, idly wondering who is under which disguise.

In Marassa's case, most divinations simply fail due to Mind Blank, and most others face a DC 29 Will save to not read a mundane rock (which is buried a long ways away). And she can up the DC to 35, if need be.

Among those gathering is a man with short brown hair, with an average build, average features and an average body. Even his possessions seem average and bland, and few things would come more naturally than overlooking him. Only by absolute focus and unnatural skill would you come to recognize that he moves with more grace and confidence than such an 'ordinary' man might deserve - and even that is incredibly well hidden except to those with supernatural perceptiveness. In his right hand he holds a small, thick bottle of wine which he occasionally sips from - the glass seems unusually firm for no evident reason, like it would be fairly hard to break. In his other hand he hold a small, metal shield, slightly dented and scratched - with signs of what look to be rust covering at least half of it. He waits as some start to gather, before finally speaking.
"Well... I suppose we're all here for the same reason. I guess that after all this time, we will finally start to fight back?"

"Its about time." A tall human with platinum-blonde hair steps out of the shadows, glancing about quickly at the others. His movements are slow and deliberate, full of strength and power. His features are rugged and slightly worn, as of one used to a hard life. His clothing is plain but functional, save for a magnificent helmet chased with gold
and silver, and set with three yellow topazes. He appears unarmed. He stands straight and tall, head held high. However, to the more observant present, there is a shadow marring his countenance, a sense of something deeper, under the surface.

Nodding politely to his fellows, he gives a slight smile. "Is this everyone then?"

With his right hand still holding his glaive, he removes his hood with his left revealing his long warbraids made of a combination of blonde and grey hair. He bears no smile, but rather a look of thought, trying to hide the emotions which have seemed to have plagued him since he first took on this mortal role.

He slowly raises the head of his glaive, so that he may plant the butt firmly on the ground so that it may support his weight.

After a quick glance around the group, he says, as if to no one "I would give them more time, a few minutes at most. You never know what may have delayed our fellows on their travels."

Looking around a bit to make reasonably sure that there are no unexpected townsfolk about, "Sylvia" responds

"We were followed, or we were directed, or we were anticipated, or we were premembered, or we will be sensed, or we will be tracked. But we have a certain span where we will not be interrupted, and that span has not yet passed. I might suggest spending some of our span shoring up our fellows' covers, for those who have not readied careful defense. And so first, a simple probe to see who lacks some cover..."

"Sylvia" casts Analyze Dweomer (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/analyzeDweomer.htm), and focuses on each of her visitors in turn.

Ireonna Loyalar speaks to the other fallen gods for the first time.

I think that we do not yet know all those who are coming, nor if all of them will make it, nor even if they have the courage to show themselves. These are difficult times for everyone, and for us especially; this meeting alone is risky. I know not even whom half of you truely are; your disguises do you justice. Let us wait a while longer to be certain of our strength before revealing our hands.

loser0ll: Try rolling just a d20 and adding the +16 manually. To penetrate my Nondetection, you need a 19 or 20 on the roll (35+)

Jack_ Simth: Since Ireonna is not wearing a disguise, and is actually a mundane human, there is no disguise for you to see though. You would, however, notice that she is as she appears to be :smallwink:

Whatever he might be, he clearly has access to considerable magical powers. As you look through the ruby lens that channels the vision of your spell, he nods. "A nice spell... although I'd think it might be seen as rude to start investigating all of us to openly without our permission." To prove his point, he seems to focus for a short time, and you feel a probing sensation at the back of your mind, although you manage to shrug it off fairly easily. "I could repeat that as many times as I wanted - and eventually, your guard would slip, I would get lucky, and you mind would be open to me. But as I said - it would be fatally rude to do such things in our first meeting, when we have matters literally concerning the fact of all things hanging in the balance."

A very old man slowly limps into the meeting space.

"My apologies for being late," he says in a flat, gravelly tone, "but that seems to be my nature, one way or another...." His speech drifts off into silence.

He slowly circles the meeting, oblivious to any impatience, often pausing to examine someone or something more closely. Once he carefully crushes an insect with his cane. At long last, he sits amidst the others. His bearing is still, patient and peaceful. He waits for someone else to speak.

Suddenly, a massive shaking of the very roots of the mountains interrupts the little gathering. The ground flows like seawater under a great wind and the broken, burned, misshapen trees dance in the midday twilight.

The earthquake is gone as soon as you notice it. It has not been the first and, from what you can tell from its strength, it will not be the last; the region has been struck by such disasters from time to time and they seem to be getting worse; hurricanes, flash-floods, earthquakes, even foul smoke from the depths of the earth coming out of dry wells and old caves, burning whoever gets too close to it.

The source of the disasters seems to be hidden deep within the ground under the region, the power coming from the same place you sense the Enemy's power mounting, straining against something unseen. It is what you've come to investigate though none of your senses can penetrate far enough to make a thorough scan from that far away.

Actually I used detect evil for the specific reason that it was a emanation so it goes around my cover and as greater arcane sight still requires you to have line of effect, I don't think you would be able to find me. I also would not have heard you, existing in a shell of magical silence. Basically your high level spell would not work but a cantrip, detect magic (emanation) would find me quickly. A bit later, she walks around another corner from behind the hidden creature, and says "Why don't you join us, hmm? After all, you do appear to be one of those destined to be here."

Go Ethereal after getting out of everyone's line of sight, head underground until near Dreamwisp's avatar, re-manifest behind some cover, and walk around it to talk to him. Do note that telepathy generally doesn't extend across planes, so she vanishes from Mindsight, only to re-appear a very short distance away.

"If we are to speak frankly, perhaps it would be well advised to shroud ourselves from prying eyes. And you'd be advised not to trust your own at first."

He focuses for a moment before a wave of energy is felt by all those present.

A middle-aged woman donning a white robe arrives, looking into the group. She looks unusually healthy for someone within Demon's Gorge. She carried a broom, which she had used to sweep in front of her feet, as though she were looking for something. Once she was close enough, she abandoned this practice and made her way toward the group, only to realize it wasn't what she thought it to be. She had felt it. She could have sworn this was what her intuition told her to go. Instead, it seemed to merely be a gathering for the protection of the village.

"Oh," Dov said while fiddling around with the broom in her hand. She looked around the area for any other type of meeting. "I- Excuse me! I had thought that this was another meet for something else. The mostly unadorned man steps slightly forward as if to gather attention to himself before speaking. Looking over all present, he nods to each individual in turn. "You may feel free to call me Diran. I stood beyond the pinnacle of mortal power only a century ago, just as we all did - my sorcerous might was unstoppable and omnipotent... or so I thought. But like us all, I was proven wrong, and now find myself limited to this lowly mortal form. I still retain some spark of sorcery and trickery, but far less than I once held. So - I suppose our first order of business should be to investigate what it is that's threatening this village? It seems that keeping one of the few places we have left to hide from falling would be an important step to conquering the universe again, no?"
The attempt at divining the nature of the speaker by the hidden man reveals no thoughts, no creature type, no magical items or effects, no evil alignment... essentially, the effects simply fail to recognize his existence. Also, I automatically succeed on the Spellcraft check DC to identify the Detect Evil in place.
He turns towards a nearby area, locking his eyes as though glaring at something. "The Lady Sylvia is right. If you intend to stay nearby, come out from behind those rocks now. At least a few of us have already detected your presence - we've been scanning each others' magical defenses and abilities with powers that possess the same limitations of those abilities you're using. I'll repeat this one more time - to so closely examine us without our consent is inexcusably rude, especially after such a lecture was just given to another. The next being who risks getting caught stealing information from me, or spying on us, would do well to ensure their magical defense beforehand." To prove his point, he gestures towards the intervening barrier and fires a bolt of magic at the sheltering object - which is vaporized into a tiny pile of soot and dust, only to be swept away quickly be the wind. Evidently, giving the man an option on whether or not to show himself was only a formality. When it turns out there is nothing physically there, his jaw drops slightly in surprise, and he begins rapidly scanning the area - only to be stopped as the Lady who had also noticed him wanders off in Ethereal form.

I have a method by which I can often misdirect divinations pointed your way which I can invoke fairly often, and I also have a means by which to prevent certain types of divinations and enchantments completely to a handful of people... although someone would need to extend me a rather lot of trust for me to apply the last."

He drifts off into futile introspection, then shakes his head firmly and returns to the matter at hand.

With that, she starts concentrating on her third, inner eye (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#sense), systemically putting her senses on different locations on the Ethereal plane by way of an organized grid, attempting to find a sufficiently large space underground that might be used for teleporting in.

Hai and the huge black wolf stare uneasily at the ravine around the group as the winds abruptly fall silent and the area becomes uncomfortably hot then as cold as the glaciers in the North, all in the space of half a minute.

Both deities realize major elemental forces are in effect in the area as if creatures of the elements are continiously employing elemental forces. Powerful creatures... of several opposing elements. Whatever is happening deep beneath the earth, such opposing elemental power in one place is unnatural, harmful to the environment and almost certainly the work of the enemy...

Meanwhile, "Sylvia" is scouting the underground tunnels for a way to reach the heart of the problem. There are many tunnels beneath the group's feet but most of them constantly shift due to the elemental forces. Even as "Sylvia" watches though, something reaches out and stabilizes one of the caves, preventing further collapse. Give me a rough distance and how long it will take you to get there. I'll step down so I arrive with you." He turns to Orman. "I trust in my reflexes. Should some threat present itself, I am confident I can escape without great injury."

Assuming the distance is less than 480 feet, I'll wait for 'Sylvia' to fly down ethereally, cast Superiour Invisibility and Ebon Eyes on myself prior to her arrival (I'll count seconds in my head), then Step down to meet her as she enters the chamber. "Sylvia" nods at the very trusting man, and says "Just ... let it happen..." as she steps into him, pushing his soul aside for a moment and taking over. She then re-dons any armor that may have been removed, and releases the very trusting man to resume control of his clay.

As she's dealing with the armor, "Sylvia" responds to "Jack" "It's probably simplest just to walk; I traced the stabilized cavern, it's only a few hundred feet that way" "Sylvia" points "And will be a simple matter for anyone to get to. I can go from A to C without the B, and can bring five others with me, but due to some issues with touching, it takes a bit long to be used as a path of retreat. I can usually aid fairly effectively in battle, however."

The large beast turns to face Sylvia, thanks her for her efforts and responds in kind."I will help you and as we both seem unbound to this plane it should be easy to scout . "I will also accept any help you have, but be warned do no try any tricks."

As another approaches he again loses his voice and as Jack arrives he makes some motions. They mean nothing to the beast and it moves swiftly fading away to the ethereal to finish his conversation. "I will search the area after any "help" you give."

The wolf returns to await Sylvia and shortly after the beast is instantly gone pulling the shadows around itself as it shifts to the ethereal plane.

You see though my disguise and it is the same!? A large obsidian wolf sits in the thin shadow of another.

@everyone
Let's assume when you talk I can hear a mental echo as long as you are not near Jack. This is just to prevent me asking to have every thing repeated all the time, unless of course you do not want me to "hear" you.

@NadrojOfTheMad
As Belial ruled mind blank will protect you from such creatures. Until you have mind blank it is a good defense but using it may reveal you when hidden. Sylvia has one more casting after this.

As I speed off to scan the area I move 500ft a round or half though the ethereal, though I become material after moving.

Oros

The tall human smiles and bows his head in thanks to Sylvia as she casts her spell on him. "Thank you my dear. I shall not forget this." Looking around at the rest of the party he claps his hands and rubs them together. "If no one has any objections, I'll lead the way. I'm a bit harder to hurt than I look." If no one objects, he'll begin walking in the direction Sylvia indicated earlier.

The human form you see is Oros' true form.

"A cave, huh? Could be a trap indeed... but give me a little while. Less than 20 minutes, and I should be able to tell you a good bit more about whether or not this place is worth examining... at least for the first portion."
With this done, he settles down into a sitting position and begins a chant.

Casting Arcane Eye - heading into the direction of the entrance mentioned. If the distance is just a few hundred feet, it should cover it in about a minute - so it can cover about 1,500 feet (a little over a quarter of a mile) into the tunnel itself while searching and examining the ceilings, walls and floors. The magical censor is invisible. My search modifier is a +20 in case I need to make checks for Secret Doors or a trap. If the tunnel branches in multiple directions, I'll let you decide the direction randomly to avoid slowing the game down with back-and-forth over minor details.

"If we're pausing for a moment to gather intelligence, perhaps you'll all indulge me in a little hobby of mine. I can weave our life forces into a mystic tapestry. This will allow me to affect all of you equally with a single spell. Weaving it will take no more time than it will take our friend here to finish his spell, and I believe the effects will be most beneficial."

+23 to Spellcraft and +21 to Knowledge (arcana). I automatically know Dashar is casting Arcane Eye and I'm guessing I know its casting time.

Up to 9 others can be woven into the tapestry (I'm automatically included and don't count as one of the nine). Only living creatures can be woven in, however, so undead need not apply. Since there are more than 9 possible targets, I'll weave in the first 9 who want in. I can take 10 on the Craft check and automatically succeed in creating the tapestry.

"Dashar, you will remain part of the tapestry for one day or until I take the time to reweave it. However I assure you it will in no way impede or restrict your actions.

Nosco, it is a technique developed by pragmatic mages to bolster large groups of allies with minimal effort. It takes a degree of arcane knowledge as well as a talent for weaving, but the effects can be spectacular. The weaver binds together the invisible threads of life force all living creatures share into a mystic tapestry. This tapestry can not only be used to share a spell's effect, but it can be used to store spells to be released at a moment's notice."

"Very well then - weave your net, if you have nothing else to do while I finish my work. It will take a few minutes yet..." Dashar-Ni seems hesitant to be bound to others, but is evidently either desperate or confident enough to allow it... after all, it -is- only for a day, and then he can choose whether or not he is comfortable with it. Omnetheus (Jack)

"Truthfully Misty, those of a martial persuasion would benefit from my talents, perhaps more than those who use magic themselves. With one gesture, I could render all those woven invisible or I could allow all woven to strike as if initiative were theirs. Any simple spell that could affect one of us can affect all of us if cast through the tapestry."

The Eldritch Tapestry magic bullet here is Snake's Swiftness. If I cast it into the tapestry, everyone affected can make an immediate attack at their full attack bonus. So 1 2nd level spell = up to 9 attacks...and the sheets I saw say we've got some heavy hitters. And it's melee or ranged attack, so no one needs to be left out. Note that immediate here doesn't mean immediate action, it just means what it normally means...right away.

Ireonna ("Eilonna")

You have my permission to weave me into your tapestry. Although to trust blindly would be foolhardy, a lack of trust will just as surely kill us all. I do not claim any exceptional melee training, but I am competant enough on the front lines to perhaps be of some use to you.

I know not enough about your strange magic to know exactly how it works, now that my diefic knowledge is denied me. I would suggest that you weave my other form into your magic, the form I shall use to confront the enemy, to be certain of its success. I was hesitant to manifest my full stength before, but we are quickly running of out of time in which to act. We are well-masked by Jack's illusions, as Dov can attest, and my own magics ought to prevent scrying on me in particular. In any event, I fear our presense will soon no longer be secret in any event when we intervene here.

Ireonna walks a small distance away to give her some space, and begins the transformation. Her form elongates and grows until it towers above everyone else assembled, at least until they choose to likewise manifest their strength. The human woman is no longer present, but tranformed into a magnificent Bronze Dragon: sixteen thousand pounds of scaled flesh.

This is the form I humbly request you weave into your tapesty, "Jack." Although I dislike the deception, I suppose I must provide an alias. For now, you may call me Eilonna.

Ireonna takes the name of an unimportant woman she once helped in a crisis. The woman is long dead, and the deed would have been all but forgotten, but the resemblance in the woman's name to her own was hard to forget; Ireonna settled upon it because it would be easy to remember to which name she ought to respond.

Her "disguise" having been discarded, Ireonna layers a few more obvious spells over the impressive amount already in effect.

I actually was unsure of how the Dragon Incarnate's class ability would impact the tapesty weaving, so I decided not to take the chance (a DA has two natural forms seperate from one another). I figured that Mind Blank ought to protect from most divinations, while Jack's ward (30'x30'x30' cubes are still easily big enough to house a gargantuan dragon) would keep out mundane eyes until such a point where it no longer became necessary.

Ireonna will now also cast her Persisted Dragonskin and Greater Mighty Wallop (tail slap) spells. I haven't taken particular note of anyone yet using a primarily bludgeoning weapon, but Ireonna can increase the damage of a bludeoning weapon by 4 size catergories for 16 hours easily (3rd level) or 32 with a little more difficulty (4th level).

The cave is just a normal hole in the earth, seemingly a natural cavern despite the elemental upheaval in the region. It is wide enough for two humans to walk abreast and about as tall-some of the larger members of the group might need to change shape to fit inside or ignore physical barriers as they move.

The mundane nature of the cavern persists for at least a thousand feet-as far as you can see inside it-and there are no obvious dangers to the group in it. From the downward slope of the cavern and the dryness of the air you suspect the cave continues on to greater depths still...

---Dashar-Ni---

For this post, I'm assuming the tapestry has been woven with it's maximum numbers, for the sake of keeping things moving... if the DM prefers that we have everyone specifically volunteer until we hit the cap, I'll edit this post, but until he says otherwise I'll assume it's okay for us to take a shortcut or two to save spending 3 days worrying over minutia every time something like this happens between now and the 'thinning of the herd' so to speak... plus, I'm not really.
Wrapping up his magical search, he Dashar-Ni addresses the party assembled. "Alright then... first things first... what exactly happened a few minutes ago? I was focused mostly on the spell, but for a second I opened my eyes and was almost certain I saw a Bronze Dragon - and a very large one at that. I don't suppose one of you is the fallen god... nevermind. Best not to speak such things directly, whether or not the answer is yes.
Regardless - in case any of you didn't get the message from whatever the silent thing is supposed to be, his scouting and my magic both reveal that for at least a thousand feet, the cave is stable and large enough for two of us to walk abreast. Enormous Dragons however... well, there are some downsides to being rediculously large and powerful. We should probably have two of our close-combat specialists in front to hold off any enemy rush, and at least one in the rear to hold off ambushes from behind. We magically focused should probably stick to the middle... although on point we'll need someone able to deal with traps should we come across them... I'm competent, if none of you have put a great deal of effort into mastering such things?"
Although organizing and leading others seems to be a natural inclination, he does seem to recall that he is no longer a God instructing his chosen people, and turns to the self-proclaimed 'tactician' of the group. "Do you agree, or have anything to add, since I'm sure you retain some of your expertise from your days as a godly strategist?"

Yes, let us make haste. I hate to be rushed myself, but every minute idling here is another minute in which the enemy may be building their own strength below.

Let us hope that the fate that has brought us together does not relieve us of each others' company in the battle that is to come.

Go from Gargantuan down to Large size. I'm really quite ashamed of myself at this point. I had intended to take Freedom of Movement specifically so that I could take larger forms into smaller spaces. Despite have twice the number of spells known, I not only failed to take Freedom of Movement, but any other spell that would help in this matter. I must have thought the 1 round/level freedom of movement from Heart of Water would be enough for emergencies. Worse! It's an abjuration, which means it would have been automatically extended if I'd cast it.

After a minute of weaving, Jack seems to teleport a short distance ahead before continuing to walk with the group. Those with magical perception know the truth...

Every non-undead member of the 'party' except the Unknown is woven in. I miscounted, Unknown and one other are excluded. Orman, Oros, Misty, Eilonna, and Dashar have confirmed their spots. 4 spots remain. If anyone doesn't want to be woven in, I'll assume the remainder do. I excluded Unknown since, at the moment, we have not communicated. For book-keeping, the 3 Investitures and Spiderskin are woven in. They have neither effect nor do they use duration until I release them.

Since I have Mislead (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/mislead.htm) at will, I will use it continuously to maintain an illusion of myself walking 15 feet away from my actual location. As you descend into the cave, you find no traps, no creatures waiting, just an empty tunnel going on and on... until you reach a massive chamber.

The chamber is nearly three hundred feet wide and just as tall, four other tunnels like your own leading away from it in regular intervals. A massive twisted pentagram has been carved in the stone floor from wall to wall, the symbol of a great eye inlaid upon it. Rather than simple lines, the symbols are made of runes, runes in the terrible language of the Enemy.

The points of the pentagram lie before each one of the five entrance tunnels and through the four other tunnels massive elemental energy is being channelled into the symbol, making the runes glow. In the center of the gigantic diagram, the elemental forces collide, mixing into a sphere of power. Within the sphere lies darkness as of someone tore off a patch of midnight and imprisoned it in the sphere of power. Within the darkness, you can see two eyes glowing like distant stars watching you...

Irenonna ("Eilonna")

Ireonna feels a shiver run down her spine as she takes note of the eyes, looking back at her. She very quickly takes an analysis of the room, and then quickly ducks back and averts her eyes from the sphere, suddenly glad that she agreed to take the position of rear guard, for the other dieties now shield her from the gaze of the eyes. Ireonna thinks about what she's seen, and without looking up, responds.

The pentagram is inscribed with the runes of the Enemy, which is no doubt perverting the elemental forces here to it's benefit. Even if you speak with cautious optimism, think of what is happening above us! You remember the earthquake? The temperature swings? The gods only know (pun intended) what's been going on since we started on our way down. If we do nothing, it's likely that the thousand innocent people above us will die, many of them no doubt former believers in us; failure to save them now would be the ultimate betrayal of their trust.

So far as I am concerned, the question is not if it harbors "Ill intentions" but whether the consequences of destroying it will be even more dire. I believe I can disrupt the sphere's flow of elemental energy briefly, just over two minutes or so, but that may leave it vulnerable.

I've been reading over the spell "Wall of Force." It says that it's immune to all types of damage, and so I believe it could be used to block the energy flow to the sphere. At this point though, we have no idea what that would actually accomplish, as expressed in Ireonna's concern. Information from anyone with divinations stronger than Detect Magic would be appreciated.

Despite being able to see things as they really are, those that examine the room in this way see nothing out of place. The black sphere remains as is as does pretty much everything else in the chamber.
Those of you examining the room much more closely magic-wise however, can see magical emanations of immense power coming through the runic diagram. Though it is made by the runes of the enemy, the diagram is quite easy to decipher; it is a binding diagram for extradimensional creatures. Of course, it is incalculably more powerful than a normal binding diagram. In fact, you suspect it is powerful enough to hold an immortal in her full power, not just a more limited extraplanar entity. The diagram is so strong it cannot be sustained by itself; you suspect the four flows of elemental energy are just that.

As you examine the diagram and the contents imprisoned therein, a booming voice that nearly knocks you off your feet interrupts you. After a split second of disorientation you realise that is what a major immortal's voice would sound like when they are speaking directly to lesser creatures... or fallen deities;

CAUTIOUS. ALWAYS CAUTIOUS. BEWARE LEST CAUTION INHIBIT YOUR EFFORTS AS MUCH AS YOUR COMPLACENCY DID OF OLD.
DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN WAITING? NO, I SUPPOSE NOT. YOU ARE, AFTER ALL, ALMOST MORTAL BY NOW. I DOUBT YOU CAN COUNT AS HIGH AS THREE BILLION, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SIX MILLION, TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND ELEVEN. THAT IS HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN WAITING, IN THIRD-ORDER FRACTIONS OF A DAY, AS HUMANS RECKON TIME.

He turns to face the eyes in the dark and bows deeply. "I cry your pardon on behalf of my fellows. Too long hiding from the eye of our common enemy has made us cold to the needs of others, fearful of reaching out lest we lose the hand that offers succor. AN ARTIST WOULD FIND THIS PLACE FASCINATING FOR A SIMILAR-MINDED ARTIST DESIGNED IT. THE REMAINING HALF OF A BROKEN WHOLE ASKS FOR THE WHOLE PICTURE NOT KNOWING THAT A HALF CANNOT SEE ALL THAT IS. NATURE UNWISELY QUESTIONS ANOTHER'S NATURAL RESPONCE. PEOPLE FORGET THAT THOSE THAT CAN TALK FROM AFAR CAN USUALLY HEAR FROM AFAR AND USE WRONG TACTICS IN COVERTLY RELAYING INFORMATION. Do avoid Names, though, as the prisoner here did just confirm our opponents can hear those."

The plain man stands quietly, waiting. And continues waiting...
Finally, he stomps forward as the creature delivers his newest speach, going as close to the darkness as he can, and turns back to the others.
"Enough of this! We babble and babble, talking about this and that, while the only thing showing any sense lies trapped and speaks in half-riddles, mocking us from a prison. Have we truly become this pathetic, that our only apparent option is to free something that judges us - and correctly so? You all do what you will."
Having said his peace, he turns back to the darkness, ignoring whatever the others might have to say about his behavior. "I've fallen to mortality, been bound to the body of a former follower, and even now much hide in a disguise of humanity. We have lost eternity itself - whatever comes of freeing you cannot be worse than the present. Tell me what must be done to free you, and I will do it, with or without the others."

I would like to set it free, if only to discover whom it is, and what it can do. And I would like to talk to it more freely on what is happening. Why doesn't someone try to free him? You say an impassable wall blocking the flow of energy, that might work. If one of the more physically inclined might be willing to try, how about just hitting it?" We honestly shouldn't free this voice because of a lack of options, nor should we do so for their aid or for satisfying curiosity. It should be done, because that is what's right. They had made a request to be freed and therefore needs help. This imprisonment is not a burden that can be handled alone.

Then again, they are right. I am only half, so I cannot see 'all that is.' Do what you will, but know where I stand. I, too, would like to know what can be done of the bindings. If it cannot be done here, I wonder what of those caves.

Further examination of the binding diagram reveals that it is fueled by four elemental forces bound with perfect order but the elemental powers themselves are in direct opposition, creating a buffer of chaos around that order.
The symbols of the binding diagram are much easier to understand. In fact, the symbols have legends in various common scripts around them that clearly and-after a closer examination so you can be sure-truthfully describe their meaning and function in great detail; the symbols are of long forgotten deities of light and good prominently displayed, inscriptions commemorating their names and most important deeds. It is as if someone did anything possible to make the nature of the symbols reveal itself and not secret, obscure or confusing.

As soon as the examination of the binding is done and voices of reason in the group begin to quiet the arguments, the booming voice sighs and speaks once more;

UNFORTUNATELY, I AM BOUND TO SPEAK ONLY THE TRUTH BUT NEVER A TRUTH THAT IS HELPFUL TO THOSE SEEKING TO FREE ME. MY PREVIOUS INSULTS FOR EXAMPLE; TRUE FROM BEGINNING TO END AND YET THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE THEY'D MAKE YOU TO FIGHT AMONG YOURSELVES OR DISTRACT YOU FROM YOUR GOAL HERE. AND EVEN AS I AM SAYING THESE WORDS, THEY, TOO, ARE BOTH TRUTH AND WOULD NORMALLY DIMINISH YOUR WILLINGNESS TO HELP IF YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT WAS SAID AND DONE HERE.

By which I mean, one group may seek water or fire while the other seeks air or earth. If we can cut of the source of the powers, then we can cease the elemental opposition that keeps this prison intact, breaking at once the order which shapes the prison and the chaos which fuels it. Ireonna ("Eilonna")

Irenonna cannot fully understand the situation before her, and that is incredibly frustration for the former, nigh-omnipotent diety. As she thinks, her tail spins in lazy circles, a habit she picked up when she was mortal herself; it is so ingrained now that she doesn't even notice it.

So much of this doesn't make any sense. It seems so very much like a trap, but then why aren't we already dead? The others are convinced that the enemy has trapped this nameless diety here, but if it were intended to finish us, then why hasen't it been unleashed upon us already? Why risk our walking away unharmed by refusing to break the seal?

The only thing that makes sense is if this diety is somehow an annoyance to The Enemy, probably strong enough to avoid being destroyed completely, like the rest of us. But if the enemy has such an interest in keeping the diety locked up, we ought to have encountered resistance by now...but we haven't. So either the Enemy is unaware of our presense still, or this is part of some greater trap.

Ireonna sighs quiety.

I can't keep living with this cycle of constant self-guessing...either it's a trap, or it isn't, but thinking about it isn't going to help. Have we not already decided to strike a blow against the enemy? This would be an exellent start. If the strongest divinations of more than a dozen of our once strongest fellows are not enough to hide our location from the enemy, then there will never be a more opportune time to strike in any event. I only hope that destroying the wards does not cause the elemental forces to rage out of control.

Ireonna forces herself to look up at the trapped diety, and steps forward to converse with it.

Greetings to you, prisoner with no name. It seems clear to me that the Enemy wishes you to be kept bound here, whomever you may be. I find it likely that this is a trap, but the fact that I am not dead seems to indicate otherwise. If the Enemy considers it prudent to keep you locked up, then I consider your freedom a boon.

Ireonna's head snakes around to look at the others nearby

That is what we came together for, is it not? To strike back against the enemy?

She whispers a quick word to the plain man beside her.

I understand your frustrations, but you must be more tactful. Our compatriots have a valid concern that this power, when released, may turn on us, and unleash an even greater evil upon the world; I am willing to chance it as you are, but you mustn't be so hasty, lest the others turn on you in their fear.

Hundreds of sailors die in storms at sea each year, and although it is the water that drowns them, it is the wind that whips the seas into frenzied waves. I doubt our choice will matter matter much in the end though, so long as we disrupt the balance. I shall go where I am needed, but we should remain in contact with each other. I have often thought water the best at destruction. It cuts deeper than anything else. Erodes mountains. And if you are in a rush, well, have you ever seen a tsunami?

All elements can destroy. All can be destroyed. Some can be destroyed more easily than others, though. Fire can be extinguished, earth shattered, water boiled -- air need be dispersed.

So in the end, you are probably right that we should target earth and fire -- not because they are most dangerous, but because they are most vulnerable. I would gladly join either team.

You all should know that the elements are all equally powerful, for, can you imagine what would happen if they were not? Have none of you traveled to the Elemental planes?" This includes a fairly crude sketch of them.

The two tunnels leading to the Earth and Fire elements seem to be going deeper into the mountain, the Fire tunnel lower than the Earth one. Something to be expected-for there is where those elements reside.

EARTH GROUP

The more you move into the cavern, the drier and colder the earth becomes. Carefully moving on and knowing that in this environment a powerful Elemental could attack from any direction, even gliding through the walls, you eventually see a chamber as large as the prisoner's ahead of you; a dark, empty place full of nothing but rocks and darkness. You suspect, however, that with as much elemental power as you can feel emanating from it, the cave is not nearly as empty as it appears to be...

FIRE GROUP

Going even lower than the earth cavern, your own tunnel soon grows hotter and hotter as if you're descending into a volcano. Not yet directly harmful to you, you suspect the heat would have made any creature that needed to drink or breathe suffer from heatstroke long before that. Ahead of you you can see the reddish glow of molten stone forming a quite wide pool. The elemental energy you are following seems to emanate from it...

Ireonna ("Eilonna")

Ireonna senses that the trouble is about to begin in ernest. Fortunately, it seems that her group has a brief moment before anything of consequence happens. She takes the time, therefore, to throw on a few last-minute spells. Stepping a tad forward of the group, she draws on her inner strength and returns to her usual, gargantuan size. She opens herself to the telepathic connection she forged with the others a moment ago.

I believe we have found the source of the fire elemental energy. We will be attempting to disrupt it shortly; I'll keep you informed

Ireonna then addresses those of her own team.

I have little high-level magic remaining, but for those of you who are inadequately protected, I can grant you immunity to the flames so long as my magic remains upon you.

Ireonna has a mear 2 7th level spell slots left, 4 if she wants to burn the 4 6th level slots she has. I need to keep at least 2 of these potential slots open, and would prefer to keep them all, but anyone is in desperate need (I.E., no fire resistance whatsoever, or fire resistance with low hitpoints) Ireonna can cast an Energy Immunity: Fire on them.

After that, I'm ready to get things started.

Earth Group --- Dashar-Ni
When the sensation of absolute battle grows undeniable, Dashar-Ni throws into a fit of battle preparation casting (anyone with a 20+ Spellcraft mod can simply look at my sheet to view the effects on him) to grant himself final protections. "Well, on to the destruction of our foes then." This is the last he says before growing huge, after which he turns invisible.

Anyone who lacks the ability to cast Invisibility, I cast it on them - 16 minute duration. I also cast Haste on us at the very end of my spellcasting - 16 rounds duration. Anyone who needs the Invisibility, just mention it in a Spoiler post. I can also throw on an Enlarge Person spell for anyone who uses size-based tactics like Trip, Bull-Rush, Grapple or Disarm. If you have anything else on my sheet that lasts at least 1 minute/level that you want, just include it in spoiler tags too and I'll mark off the slot and assume you asked for it - it seems kinda pointless to RP listing every single spell I have. And I've got a lot of slots - that's the one advantage of Sorcerers over Wizards at high levels.

Ireonna ("Eilonna")

Ireonna feels the staggering wave of heat wash over her. The heat is almost unbearable, and if she had not protected herself just prior to the attack, she would have been bathed in fiery agony; she can only imagine what the others are feeling who are unprotected against this sort of thing. There is little time for thought in the face of this dire threat. Awakening her draconic blood, she puts magic into motion, hastening her incantations.

She circles the fire elemental, lining up a clear shot that won't hit the others, since she forgot to ensure herself of their respective immunities. She spins her magic through her draconis fundamentum, and releases it in a powerful, two-fold blast of her breath weapon: A swift bolt of electical energy that is followed by a billowing cloud of shadowy gas that chills to the soul.

Though unable to speak at the moment, she is able to send a brief message to the others via Telepathic Bond

We're being attacked.

[roll0] That's my reflex save, although I believe it to be irrelevant given my current immunity to fire. Just in case, damage would have been (assuming you want us to roll as you haven't?):

[roll1]

Ireonna casts Arcane Spellsurge as a swift action. She then moves within range of the elemental. According to the draconomicon, a gargantuan dragon can reach up to 30' away with a tail slap. If you're accepting this update, Ireona stop 30' away from it (enough to threaten it so that it can't cast defensively), otherwise, she'll move within 20'. (If there was a map, I could explain this better, sorry

She uses her standard action then to cast Arcane Fusion: Dispelling Breath (Shadow Gas) and Breath Flare (Lightning). The dispelling shadow gas breath gives 7 negative levels (ref 31 for half) and works like a targeted dispel magic (1d20+15 caster level check if they fail the saving throw). The lightning breath flare dazzles the opponent for 16 minutes if it fails the reflex saving throw against the breath weapon (31) and deals:

FIRE GROUP

Despite your efforts, the fire elemental seems to be able to dodge or deflect most of your attacks-almost as if it knows what you will do before you strike. A lucky strike with a black beam of negative energy does land but the enervation spell unravels against the enemy's resistance to magic. A notable exception is the still nameless beast's unseen attacks; the elemental does not seem capable of anticipating and avoiding them and while killing a roaring wildfire made solid and animate by elemental energies is much more difficult than killing a mortal being, the intensity of the flames diminishes somewhat, indicating that the elemental is wounded-if only lightly.

The fire elemental strikes at the last location of its unseen attacker's position with two massive flaming fists but misjudges the distance and misses; it can probably feel the direction the blows came from but doesn't know the attacker can reach further than most others...

EARTH GROUP

Every last attack you launch at the huge pile of rock that doesn't miss or is avoided strikes with the sound of a hammer against a gong, the force of the blows absorbed then sent deep into the earth. Like the more evasive defences you can sense from the other group through your telepathic bond and divine senses, this elemental is shielded as well. The type of the shield troubles you-it doesn't seem to be a spell or power you are familiar with-but one within the group does recognise it. The former platinum dragon is almost certain the defence is a form of Divine Shield or similar cosmic barrier.

With your attacks not being able to herm it for the time being, the elemental goes into the offencive. It lets go a mighty roar, expressing the anger of the earth with the crushing force of a volcanic explosion directed against the two dragons, Oros and Leonardo.

OOC:
You better check the elementals more closely with various non-standard senses.

Also, the earth elemental "roars". That's 42d4 sonic damage on Oros and Leonardo, reflex save DC 36 for half. Other defences might apply as well.

Ireonna ("Eilonna")

Fire Group

Noting the elemental's natural resistance to magic, Ireonna draws into her deepest reserves, and expends the last of her most potent spells. She merges the incantation into one fluid action, and releases the magic. She can feel the magic in her blood surge and quicken, eager to make itself manifest. An instant later, almost simultaneously, Ireonna's magical assault penetrates the creature's natural resistance and attempts to dissolve it as Ireonna hastens to weave yet another spell. As Ireonna moves into position close behind the fiery monstrosity, a few can see the invisibly barrier that now separates Ireonna from the it.

Sorry this took so long to get up, but I swear I've started this thing at least twice with no success. I've finally settled on burning my last two 7th level spell slots to cast Arcane Fusion, Greater: Arcane Spellsurge/Lower Spell Resistance. I followed that up with a Wall of Force, 20' high, behind and on the sides of the elemental, leaving open the "front" for "?"s attacks. I'm assuming that a 20' high wall of force will be sufficient to keep it from hitting Ireonna, barring magical intervention, based on a 15'x15' sterotype of Huge creatures. A 20' wall allows Ireonna to still hit with a bite attack, threatening it and counting for flanking. If I'm wrong, please let me know or just change it for me, at your discretion.

Moving into the back (I.E. flanking) will almost certainly trigger an AoO. I'm presuming that it's attack will connect with a very real Wall of Force, but I could be wrong.

Dreamwisp: I didn't know if you wanted the wall to completely surround the elemental, especially since you mentioned flanking. If you're going to be on the open side, I figured it'd still be trapped, and frankly, if it has to attack one of us, you have a 50% miss chance and better AC

Marassa's attempt to hold the elemental fails; it is too strong, too big to be held by her telekinetic abilities alone.
The unknown shadow-being's immense strength however is another matter; its attack smashes the elemental against the wall, the flaming body pressed fully five feet into the rapidly melting stone. The elemental shakes off the momentary daze but for the first time seems hurt.
Hai, the incarnation of Winter, assumes the form of a gigantic turtle whose jaws clamp down on the fiery being's form, seemingly to no effect. Beneath the flames, the elemental's body is as resilient as a block of solid iron.
The dragon lady draws upon her magic to trap the elemental, allowing only one opening through which it can attack-at least for now. The invisible walls are easily outlined though against the being's fiery aura-but are not destroyed.
Ghautar, shrouded in an aura of impenetrable darkness, moves ahead and slashes at the elemental. His scythe does not seem to be having any effect but suddenly the elemental staggers, its flames dim and its body crumbles to ash!

A tremendous roar comes out from within the fiery pool and an elemental identical to the one you just fought bursts out of it. It is so very alike the other one, down to blackened patches where the other elemental was struck any serious blows. You are not sure but you believe the two elementals had a very, very close bond of some sort and destroying one you weakened the other.
The second elemental roars again and reactivates the burning aura, the flames again dancing in the chamber. The stones of the walls and ceiling begin to melt and fall down like a thick, viscous rain, sticking on everything and burning like a furnance. The beast that hammered down the other elemental now clearly outlined, its "brother" points a massive burning hand at it and a terrible red flash like that of an exploding volcano hammers down on its enemy-and with nearly that much strength as well. The "beast" is blasted away and the flash continues, the torrent of heat shattering the walls of force behind it and digging a five-foot hole into the roots of the mountain deeper than the eye can see...

Ghautar's Life Drain slays the "first" elemental. (bad will roll, sorry for not noticing the power sooner)
The "second" elemental moves out of the pool, its fire aura spreading from it. That's another 19d8 fire damage on everyone and everything, same reflex save. The aura has dealt enough damage to begin melting the stone of the ceiling that falls down on everything like thick mud. It deals no additional fire damage compared to the aura but outlines invisible/concealed stuff. (Ghautar is not outlined; the darkness radiating from him goes beyond his body and automatically snuffs out light sources of any kind)
The elemental blasts Dreamwisp"s character. The immunities/resistances/damage reduction/other barriers don't apply on the blast.
It deals [roll0] (untyped)

suggestion: you people need to negate the aura somehow before you burn to death. Combat healing can't hurt either. Plus, fire elementals are weak vs cold.

Earth Group

The singing dragon's powerfully enhanced blows strike against the earth elemental's unseen shield and are absorbed. However, tiny cracks appear where the blows landed, a sign the shield can be damaged and, eventually, destroyed.
As Dov weaves yet another protection around her allies, Omnetheus attempts to alter the elemental guardian into a pebble. His spell strikes the elemental and seeks an opening through which to reach and affect it-but finds none. The shield is like a thin layer of force completely surrounding the guardian and while it can be damaged and, eventually, overcome, it seems to have ignored anything else so far.
Misty's six arrows strike at the shield, adding more tiny cracks to it while Oros exhales a subsonic blast at the elemental-with less effect than the arrows had. In fact, the elemental seems to anticipate and dodge the blast, despite its tremendous weight.

Slightly annoyed at the attacks, the elemental reaches out and grabs Leonardo-the one who has proven to be the most dangerous of the group so far-smashes him on the floor and steps on him with both feet.

Clarification: the barrier blocks LoE as far as you can observe though the elemental seems able to attack just fine.
Leonardo is grappled. Grapple damage is:
[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]
[roll3]
Damage is lethal, damage reduction applies to each damage separately (though it isn't attack/weapon damage so things like starmantle or empyreal ecstacy don't)

"Sylvia", seeing the grapple wasn't working so hot, tries to quench the flames, sending a current of utter cold at the burning beast.

Passive Mechanics:
Reflex: [roll0] vs. DC 39; +17 if it qualifies as a spell or spell-like ability.
Incorporeal Miss: [roll1] high is good for the person rolling, so 51-100 means the fire aura misses.
Damage Roll if the Fire Aura hits her: [roll2]
Concentration Check if it turns out to be needed: [roll3]

Active mechanics:
Move: Invoking Flyby Attack, move up enough to have Line of Effect to the elemental beast; if the zappage fails, she'll move back down, if it succeeds, she'll stay to maintain it.
Standard: When she has Line of Effect to the elemental beast, use the Phrenic (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/monsters/phrenicCreature.htm) psi-like ability Energy Current (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/energyCurrent.htm) for maximum Cold damage: [roll4], Fort save DC 35 half. SR penetration: [roll5]. Note that if we happen to have someone within 15 feet of the target, one of the people within 15 feet (selected at random) also needs to make a Fort save DC 35 for half of whatever the elemental beast takes... although whoever that happens to be will be taking continuing Cold damage at the same time you're taking continuing Fire damage, so it likely won't actually pose a problem.

Seeing the damage that the dragon had dealt Leonardo, Dov makes her way to the grappling two and grants her ally with two healing spells done simultaneously.

(If Leonardo was not damaged thanks to Freedom of Movement, Dov will stay where she is and casts Sanctuary on herself.)

Leonardo, if damaged, you are healed with two Cure Serious Wounds. [roll0]

Watching his opponent for a moment, Jack does a few mental calculations, then gestures at the ceiling above his foe.

Stay with me on this one, it's gonna get ugly.

Polymorph Any Object to duplicate Transmute Rock To Mud. I have 52 10 foot cubes to shape. 48 of them will be shaped into 4 10x10x120 rectangles arranged so there is a 10x10 column between them. 1 cube will be at the top of this column. The remaining 3 will be used to ensure nothing is stuck. The result is a 10x10x120 column of rock now unattached from the ceiling above the elemental. DMG 67 says a 5 foot cube of rock weighs 1 ton, so this thing weighs 96 tons. DMG 303 says falling objects deal 1d6 damage per 200lb of weight...so that's 960d6 to anything under the rock (ie, the elemental).

Curse you Rules Compendium, capping the damage at 20d6. :smallfurious:

I'll post again for the damage (and a bump).

Note: The DMG doesn't give any rule on dodging falling objects, so I have no idea how one might adjudicate this. Well worth a shot though.

Dashar-Ni, apparantly having gotten bored with the current inactivity, chants another spells, firing a bolt of acid at the elemental, trying to damage it's shield further. While a weak spell, it bypasses natural resistances to magic and makes reflexes irrelavent - but more importantly, it gives the bored Sorcerer something to do.
