Just a quick map question before you guys start... The Dome isn't scaleable, but what if someone had something like spider climb, would they be able to just walk up it?

Sallera

Init: [roll0]

Squirrel will purchase a dagger and a greatclub. He'll also leave all but 10 sling bullets outside.

Edit: Don't see why not. It is (presumably) perfectly smooth, but allowing someone to spider climb up the walls seems reasonable.

No purchases.

Edit: Good question, Mavian. I want to see a spiderclimbing warlock blasting people from the top of the dome, now. That's a nod to SilverClawShift's campaign journals, for those who didn't get the reference.

I just like trying to find areas of the map I can abuse, and its easier to ask now then to have a giant discussion about it later

Also, if thats the case your going to have give the ceiling some description,

I'll be intrigued to see how it works; I think the bias it originally had toward ranged fighters and mages may actually have swung the other way with the fountain and the sanctuary spell, since both of those benefit the melee types more. In any case, best way to see how it works is by putting the arena through its paces.

I'll be watching you closely boys, you better play nice eh! :smallmad:

Yes, spider climb works, the ceiling is 25ft above ground level (effectively 35ft above the ground) at it's highest point (in the middle), and 15ft above ground level around the very edge and a little inward.

Hmmm...definitely shows how needed the sanctuary spell is. If Squirrel had a 10 foot reach weapon and the spell wasn't active, I'd be forced to try and get a one hit kill with a spell while casting defensively, or die.

Instead, I start in J-2 with crossbow in off hand, move to J-10, and ready an action:

to cast Seeking Ray at the first enemy without a sanctuary spell active who comes within 30 feet of me

Out of curiosity, do the sanctuary effects end on the start of round 2, or the start of your round 2 turn?

Hi Ref Scorer

The map says "on the first round" so as soon as Round 2 starts, everyone's sanctuary goes poof

Tanaric
2009-09-26, 12:49 PM
In that case, I suppose I spit a gob of acid on Fiorella as my readied action goes off.

That's OK, it was all part of my plan. Got the bad roll out here in an exhibition, then went and rolled a 19 on a 4d6 KFB to (hopefully) win round 60 and get my third level 2 character.

Lubirio
2009-09-27, 04:23 AM
That's a smart thing to do, except you can't really plan rolls at all. :smallwink:

hustlertwo

I'm superstitious. And victorious. If I have to cater to the first to keep being the second, I will.

Oh, and as a lovely parting gift, Fiorella's corpse will continue to exude her stench (since bodies don't disappear in a FFA), so I guess that means saving throws are needed for my nearby opponents this round as well.

Lubirio

Higher ground provides a +1 attack bonus for melee weapons, not +3 or +anything for ranged.

Lubirio
2009-09-27, 06:42 PM
the plus 3 would've been justified for being on higher ground thrice, and I guess you're right on the ranged part. It wouldn't have hit anyway, but thanks for telling me. :smallwink: Who invented Natural 1's?

Lubirio
2009-09-27, 08:26 PM
Unless I'm mistaken, that move takes 55ft of movement, so my question (to save my life) is: how do you have a movement speed of 60ft?

Sallera
2009-09-27, 08:31 PM
30 base. +10 from Quick. +10 from barb fast movement. And yet another +10 from Speed of Thought. (If I feel like wasting a burst and a standard action on it, I can get another +10 for 3 rounds.) Speed is kinda his whole thing, so he has to be good at it. :smalltongue:

hustlertwo
2009-09-27, 09:45 PM
Yeah, I noticed the 60 too when the match started and broke it down out of curiosity, since more than 50 is almost unheard of in Arena. But it checks out.
