I think this spell has interesting potential. Basically, it's a non-lethal way of getting rid of enemies by sending them to a magic-less world. No magic, no plane shifting back.

Exile
Conjuration (Teleportation)
Level: Clr 8, Sor/Wiz 8
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

You move a creature and their possessions to an extradimensional planet where no form of magic or psionics functions, and there are no coterminous planes. Even epic spells will not function on that world and artifacts cannot be sent there. Undead, constructs, incorporeal, outsiders, and other creatures with a wholly supernatural existence cannot be sent there. Magic items or creatures sent there have their supernatural properties suppressed. There is no method of leaving the plane except through a Gate spell cast on another plane.

The planet itself is fairly pleasant and sparsely populated by primitive human tribes. There is abundant wildlife but there are no native magical creatures or aberrations. The planet is spherical and contains many different types of environments but never sends a person to its most extreme climates. If cast underwater it will send someone to the surface of that world's oceans but otherwise does not deposit someone in water. Beyond that point of arrival is entirely random.

A very small number of spells cast on other planes with magic can interact with or provide information about things on the magic-less world. They are Gate, Discern Location, and Contact Other Plane. Plane Shift cannot send people there, and only Gate can be used to leave. A person who has had Exile cast upon them must usually be rescued by a powerful magician.

This would actually be an interesting beginning for a campaign, if say the BBEG was exiled to earth and your characters started here. I like the idea.

Not very different from imprisonment (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/imprisonment.htm).

Why? Mechanically all it is is another save or lose spell. It's also SR: Yes, and Will negates.

Because, for one thing, it requires a 9th level spell to fix it. It is standard practice that special effects are the same level of the spell that fixes them.

Seconded. Allowing this at a level where the PCs could be subject to its effects without having the means to remedy the situation is terribly problematic. If slain, a character can just be raised and fight on...if imprisoned, freedom is just a quick preparation away.

Having to sit out while the Wizard gains 1-3 levels...or worse, being the parties spellcaster and thus unable to gain a powerful enough spell to break your imprisonment, would be no fun at all.

This, it's level 9.

On the other hand though, Plane Shifting someone to the Plane of Fire and having their body utterly destroyed also requires a level 9 True Resurrection to fix. I definitely see the case for making it level 9 though, seeing how similar the effect is to Imprisonment.

Aside from banishing enemies, I could see the spell have use as a safe haven for friends. Is the evil dark wizard winning? Exile your friends to the unmagical planet where he'll only be able to reach them by sending minions. It's a good place to keep the "child of destiny" that prophecy foretells will be the wizard's undoing.
