So I'm looking for a distraction during my lunch hours. My office's Websense blocks 90% of the interesting stuff on the net. But some sites (like this one) get through. So I'm looking for additional distractions. In particular, I'm a fan of Strategy and/or RPG games. Also, I can't go to any site that is not safe for work, or that requires a download, or that belongs to a popular networking site (like Face book or My Space) because they are blocked. But honestly, and entertaining, non-blocked time waster would be helpful.

Ideas?

currently I'm in the middle of my history class and I am being distracted by writing this post. Does that count?

As far as games go I just click on the ones bluesnews links to and sometimes browse around random flash sites.

BBC has some pretty interesting stuff (http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/interactive/games/). Battlefield Academy is probably the most interesting of the lot, but most of them are worth checking out.

Well, when you get bored, first piss off the janitor by getting rid of all the toilet paper. (http://papertoilet.com) Then, read some TVTropes (http://tvtropes.org).

Well, my work doesn't block Keenspot webcomics such as Nukees (http://www.nukees.com/), but I think I got lucky in that regard.

Edit: A less likely-to-be-filtered webcomics site is Webcomics Nation (because it's much smaller), home of wonders such as Narbonic (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/shaenongarrity/narbonic/series.php?view=archive&chapter=9763) and Skin Horse.

If worst comes to worst, you could always Stumble (http://www.stumbleupon.com) and hope that the sites you stumble upon don't get blocked up. I'm going to assume the popular stuff, like Kongregate and Newgrounds, can't be accessed?

Also, Skin Horse. Yes.

Are AdventureQuest (http://www.battleon.com) (and its "sequels" of sorts, DragonFable (http://www.dragonfable.com) and MechQuest (http://www.mechquest.com)) blocked?

I agree. For some reason.

Also, Canabalt (http://www.adamatomic.com/canabalt/) is a good little time waster. Simple as it gets, but endlessly fun.

I would go to Indie games weblog (http://www.indiegames.com/blog/) and click on anything that says, "Browser Game Pick."

I don't think that an MMO would mix very well with work :smallwink:

If you're looking for Flash games, Kongregate.com and Armorgames.com are both loaded with uncountable ways to waste your time.

Hey, if you can multitask and know not to let it dominate your life, it can work.
