Okay, I'm starting a D20 Modern game set in the Vietnam war, and I need a soundtrack. So far I have:
For what it's worth - Buffalo Springfield

Hey Joe - The Jimi Hendrix experiance

any ideas?

Look up bob Dylan, Pete Seeger,

There are also a bunch of one shots:

Don Mclean:“ American Pie”
The guess who: “ American Woman”
Bruce Springsteen: "Born in the U.S.A."
Edwin star: “War”
That should get you started.

Maybe, uh... "stop now what's that sound? Everybody look what's going round." WHatever that song is.

Really, just look up the Tropic Thunder soundtrack.

Can't believe "We've Gotta Get out of This Place" hasn't been mentioned yet. Sung by The Animals.

Needs more All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix.

And Purple Haze. And his cover of the national anthem. And everything else he ever played.

And for that Good Morning Vietnam feel, I suggest Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.
Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner has also become synonymous with the Vietnam 'conflict'.

Anything from the musical Hair. Especially if you've got hippies around. Both the original and the revival are great.

You wouldn't think it, but Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit works really nice with 'nam.

The trippy, slow music contrasts very sharply with the very real very bloody very fast world that is the battlefield. Plus it goes well with headshots.

Technically a little disassociated from Vietnam I think, but it might work:

Black Sabbath "War Pigs"

"Suicide is Painless" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yc52NckGLs) - nuff said :smallcool:
I wee bit different would be Nazareth, but i do think that their version of "Shape of Things" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl_q9ZCoyOg) is suitable as well as "Crazy" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g58HLPY9qtU&feature=related).
Full (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdDDubk7sxU&feature=related) Metal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_dX0Nei538) Jacket (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmILOL55xP0&feature=related) might also be good.

It's not actually about Vietnam, but "Born to Be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf both have that 'nam era feel.

Fun Fact: Born to Be Wild was the first song coin the phrase Heavy Metal. Cool huh?

If you can find the full cadence, the song "Napalm sticks to kids" ought to make immediate hippies of your party, if they aren't already. May or may not have actually been written by the military, and may or may not be sarcasm.
