Welcome to Insaneowar Lite. This is pretty much the same as insanowar but with a smaller. much more basic base, which contains a lab, an hanger for vehicles with a small trench system in front of it.
I have P.m the next five on the list. waiting for response.

Da Rules:
1.) There are five players, each of which represent a commander of their army.

2.) Each player takes turns choosing some powerful character, semi-powerful group of characters, or large mob of expendable non-characters from any sort of media. Examples: The TMNTs, a Dreadnought from 40K, a mob of kobolds.

3.) When each player has 5 selections, the game begins.

4.) A map will be provided showing the layout of the battlefield. Each person will have a base of operations with which they can wage war. Note that each base is about 1 turn away from each other.

5.) A static turn order is established. In each turn, the player dictates what their troops are doing, as far as the opponent can see. Secret actions need not be reported (although it is good sportsmanship to give hints as to what your are planning).

6.) When troops engage, the person whose turn the engagement took place on decides the outcome, which will usually NOT be all one way. If there is any friendly dispute (and the dispute WILL be friendly, or else), other players/playgrounders chime in with their opinions. If no consensus is reached, it's a 50/50 slaughter.

7.) No retcons unless agreed by host and all the remaining players.

9.) You have 3 days to post your turn, if you miss this then it go'se to next player. This may be extend by contecting the host and posting on the thread.

8.) The winner is the one who wins.

Da Guidelinez:
1.) You can't choose anyone TOO powerful. No gods, demigods, anything like that. Make it something that's about the same power level as the other troops on the field.

2.) Don't be a jerk. The objective here is to have fun--frankly, who wins and who loses is pretty arbitrary anyway. This game is definitely straddling the line between Silly and Structured.

3.) Respect Awesomeness. If a player is pulling off something that's just too awesome to believe, that should aid his victory.

4.) Enjoy yourself. Seriously, guys.

Can I go ahead and pick my character(s)? If it's my turn, and I'm not supposed to wait, I'll pick in the spoiler below.

Sorry if I'm not supposed to. I'm new to this :D

Paul Muad'dib

Right. I'm basically going for the Five Man Band... with a twist! Namely, what would it be like if Byakuya was the Hero. :smalltongue:

Croverus
2009-10-02, 10:09 AM
I'm going to pick a mob of zerglings, there's approximately 36 of them and they are considered "fully upgraded", they run fast, attack fast, and can burrow

Horngeeks away so we skip him this pick and he can pick two next time Croverus picks next I believe.

36 zerglings are in a small swarm, mentioned that in my post. But they're upgraded, so the 36 of them are tougher than generic zerglins.

My second pick = Godzilla.

:smallbiggrin:A little powerful, isn't it? Godzilla barely even feels missiles launched from helicopters... It could, really, pick up a base and simply chuck it to kill whoever occupies it... It'd also move faster, wouldn't it?

Methinks a smaller, perhaps 20-foot Godzilla, would be more appropriate... Maybe even like 40 feet tall, but definitely not the standard (164-328 feet)

If so, I pick...

Kakashi from Naruto.

((Considering a proper Zergling rush uses, in the first wave, six unupgraded zerglings, I wouldn't say three full control groups of imbalings is 'small'. I'd classify it as 'medium harassment force', and it could even be upgraded to a medium attack force with a few ultralisks and a defiler.))

gothic's call, methinks.

Robert Blackletter
2009-10-07, 04:18 AM
No prob with the firefly ship, with no weapons (or shields?) it just a transport ship easily destroyed with (for example) Godzilla atomic breath.

Godzilla should be a small one, with out the awesome regenerative powers he normally has (he can regenerate from a skeletal, which may be a little to powerful) and with some weapons able to penetrate him. Unless you mean Zilla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zilla) IN which case :smallconfused:

If so, Gaara of the Desert.

Dose anyone have any objection? otherwise o.k with me.

Actually, no. His bankai has 3 stages... One of which is a SWORD TORNADO that moves just as fast, another is a inescapable sword whirlpool sphere, and the last is... Well.. It's a thousand blades compressed into one katana that functions like a Chain sword that can cut through practically anything.

Wreckingrocc
2009-10-08, 05:18 PM
I feel so munchkin for picking Paul...

In regards to the next round, I apologize; I thought we were waiting on someone for some reason...

8999 Kobolds

Common kobolds, armed with picks and thin leather armor.

Yes, I did make that number just to anger those damned meme-addicts... I really do hate memes.

Croverus
2009-10-08, 05:21 PM
That's actually a lot of kobolds... like, dang. I don't care if they are CR 1/4, 8999 means that approx 450 of them will crit, and of the ones that hit will be doing max damage. Sheer numbers, that's a bit much.

horngeek
2009-10-08, 05:29 PM
Yeah, it is a bit much.

I'm thinking who to go for, remembering that I did switch to Gaara for my second pick.

Wreckingrocc
2009-10-08, 05:31 PM
:/ Even if they crit, that's like... 1d3-1x2 damage... An average of 2.666 damage. Plus, crits have to be confirmed- only about 19 will confirm crits.

How will they all get adjacent, too? You could tear through many of them simply with a weak AoO effect... They can't fly, either.

All I'm trying to get at- compared to some weird ass stereotypical powerful for some vague reasons guy from some anime who can swirl his sword about and move faster than people can see (faster than light), it's not that bad.

Croverus
2009-10-08, 05:39 PM
But they cna make traps, and mine! And 8999 kobolds could mine under a battelfiled approx the size we're working on incredibly fast. Tactically speaking they're dangerous as hell in such large numbers. Maybe several hundred wouldn't be a big deal to me.

Wreckingrocc
2009-10-08, 05:54 PM
Well, considering the fact that I'd need materials to make traps, and mining actually happens considerably slowly with pickaxes, they're not as dangerous as some other things I could pick up...

For you guys to be happy, let's say with 1000 kobolds, to carve out a 10x10 tunnel, it'll take five times as many turns as it'd take to walk said distance. More kobolds can't aid in digging said tunnel faster, but they can aid in digging a wider tunnel at the same speed or digging different tunnels.

Sound good? XD

horngeek
2009-10-08, 05:55 PM

So I know I'm waiting on Fiery Tower for picks, but I'm still going to use this opportunity to figure who I might want next. I have a question for everyone.

Can units do battle without actually moving? For example, I have my sniper from Team Fortress 2 - Can he snipe, say, the center of the battlefield from my base? He's not all that powerful, as a headshot can't take down a heavy with one hit, but would it still be viable? It'd also be very hard to hit moving targets from so far away, and, for balance, he could probably only take a couple of shots each round.

Can I summon Reagan to demand that you tear down your wall later in the game? Yeah, it's big enough that with shroud most things won't be able to just break through it, but there's still several giant enemies kicking around that could punch a hole in it.

That and let's not forget that I'm spending a choice on a unit that can't move or attack in any way shape or form. :smalltongue:

I'm making the assumption there's ways to get out. Considering the wall seems to be more of a magical force field (which can presumably, based on the fact that it flies, block anything from simply going over it) I'm going with the idea that it just kind of opens a hole when you want it to. Looking at the picture I get the impression that this isn't the type of wall that would have gates and doors.

EDIT:
Come to think of it, if it had Reach it would be tall enough to stop people from flying over it. If it has Flying it can probably move in some way to stop things from getting over it...

I'd normally say that's fine, but there are other people on the sign-up list who may want the position; I'd say give it two or so days; if no one's claimed, it's yours.

Otherwise, everyone else can decide.

Cool, how about if we have the power to veto (force repicks) 2 picks of Darkcomet (or whoever) to negate any advantage gained by picking after seeing everyone's else? "We haven't much time," speaks the voice of the kid known only as scout, in the barracks of the tiny base. "We've got to move quickly, else they may catch us off guard! I can be there and back before you can even blink!"

The man called Muad'Dib makes no move, his empty sockets adding an eerie feeling to the room they sit in. "Then go," he says, rather irritatedly. "Take the one called Chell. You know what to do if the plan should go wrong."

"I'm not an idiot!" shouts Scout, quickly moving out the door. "We'll be back in a jiffy!"

As the two depart, the Muad'Dib turns to the inventor sitting beside him. "You'd best get started, too; we have enough supplies for you to begin your work, and you'll have all you'll need by the time they finish their work."

"Very well, sir," says the inventor with a smile, "But all we have is some basic equipment; I have not the manufacturing material."

"I got you covered," says another man, known only as Engineer, as he rests on a small, metal container. "Turrets a'int my only specialty."

~

As the sun passes overhead, not a soul leaves that camp but for two making their way towards the center. They move surprisingly quickly, and by evening they come to the great rock which rests equidistant from all other bases. Though none accompanied them during their initial journey, as time passes many small figures seem to appear from nothing, and they begin to hit the rock with many small picks. In only minutes, hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of small figures cover the area. The two who had arrived are nowhere to be seen.

Eventually, one figure emerges from the barracks, in his hand several iron rods and a welder. Quickly, he erects a foundation about the barracks, his techniques efficient and swift. As night falls, a platform is raised by some unknown force to the top of the foundation, a small turret resting atop it. The foundation towers high, and ladders lead from the ground to the top of what appears will eventually be a tower.

Several creatures resembling skinned dogs with larged curved blades attached to their torsos moves out from the base and take up positions around the base, burrowing underground.

A small figure wearing stealth clothes and a mask with a large rifle on his back exits the base then suddenly disappears, heading out to recon other bases.

Two large figures, a mech known as Shining Gundam and a large radioactive lizard named Godzilla, look at eachother, as if about to fight. Godzilla roars and heads towards the center as the gundum stays at the base.

Ten orbs, half red half wwhite, roll out of the base and start to randomly speed towards another base, slowly gaining speed.

In the southeastern corner of the battlefield a massive glowing wall rises around the base just inside the trench. Anyone watching closely would notice a fair number of small, sand coloured spider-like creatures quickly making their way to the scattering of rocks in the middle of the battlefield while large floating jellyfish creatures rise into the air within the wall.

From inside the hanger the sounds of welding and clinking metal can be heard...

"You all are the best of the best. Your squads have each proven themselves in battle. This will be a piece of cake. Let's get to work."

Commander Shepherd stood up. He had just met with the leaders of every squad, getting them debriefed for this mission. Well... it could very well be a simulation, these guys's histories didn't make sense.

Either way, there were 4 other bases, presumably with people just as good as them... or at least as good as claimed to be. Didn't matter either way.

Everyone else was waiting in the main hanger, sticking to their respective squads. No trust, that would have to change.

Commander Shepherd cleared his throat, then began giving the orders, "First off, the crew of Serenity get your ship ready: We're going to need it ready to pick up or drop off. Anyone else who isn't a sniper, get in the trenches. I do not want anyone getting into this base. I want all snipers to stay in the base. Baron Wulfenbach looked over the assembled army. He had never seen clanks like the Gekkos or the AT-AT, or such a merge of clanks and constructs as the Robot Zombies. The last was a man calling himself 'Mobster Kingpin'. Klaus wasn't as impressed by him... But maybe if he could... Yes! The constructs!

Wulfenbach took one of the robot zombies to the lab, assigning Mobster Kingpin the role of commander while he was away.

>MK: Look at battlefield.
-----You see a swarm of tiny figures in the center.
>MK: Look at assembled troops.
-----The giant walker catches your keen eye, and the robot zombies kinda creep you out. You decide to leave them alone as you look at the smaller robot walker things. One of them moos. What kind of robot moos!? Those things creep you out more than the zombies.
>MK: Send Gekkos to their doom.
-----You send the creepy robot things to the center of the battlefield, towards the swarm of little figures. Maybe they're good for recon?
>Next.
-----The Gekkos advance on the center, leaping and mooing as they go. They arrive, quickly discerning the nature of the swarm as little orange reptilian humanoids. The scene quickly turns to one of terror as the Gekkos start rampaging, cries of kobolds ringing out as the robotic mooing things step on them and occasionally bother to shoot the ones that prove particularly evasive. There's a whole freaking lot of kobolds, though, so this is taking a while.

The AT-AT, MK, and the remaining robot zombies that aren't being 'studied' by Wulfenbach remain inside, the AT-AT a looming, ominous figure that sets the dark mood of the base.

((I didn't send all of the kobolds to the center... There were only about 1999)).

Isn't it also supposed to be the person attacked that determines the fate of the battle? Of course, the kobolds would have fled, but they can tunnel pretty damn quickly, and they've already gotten quite a bit out of the rock, considering you sent the Gekkos after they started mining. Thus, some probably could've fled to the center :/

I'll say roughly 499 were killed, for simplicity.

Also, should I move on to round 2, or do we get a summary?

Darkcomet
2009-11-08, 01:02 PM
((Well, normally the one whose turn it is determines the outcome-unless it becomes contested-but in my mind at least, what you say makes it part of one pick against a whole one. 1000 kobolds seems fair enough to me.))

Wreckingrocc
2009-11-08, 01:50 PM
See, but I doubt the Gekkos can really run that much faster than a fit human... At least, to the point where they'd arrive in a very short amount of time. The portal was still there; couldn't they just jump back in as soon as they saw the Gekkos coming? Or flee into the tunnels? They'd have to be pretty suicidal or mindless to wait for their slaughterers to come and get them.

Plus, this brings up the whole sillyness of involving Muad'Dib and precognizance; couldn't he have warned the kobolds the Gekkos would move, and instruct them to flee at a certain landmark? I suppose one could say he doesn't see *everything*, but then what would be the point in having him anyways?

And no Godzilla vs. Gekkos encounter?

Darkcomet
2009-11-08, 02:43 PM
Gekkos? They run quite a bit faster than a human, fast enough to keep up with a fleeing APC in the game they're from. They also leap. A lot. Hence the stomping.

And precognition, IMO, is only going to give people headaches in this game.

Wreckingrocc
2009-11-08, 03:10 PM
True. I'll probably use it to justify some set-ups such as turrets, stickies (blind detonation, anyone?), and portal positioning.

As for the Gekkos, yes, but the kobolds would still have time to flee. The Gekkos were released after the kobolds had flooded out in the center; they'd be able to react to them charging forward... 2/3 losses seems a little harsh for a slaughter they could see coming from several miles away... Especially considering the future-sight plans, which would have been completely inaccurate to just overlook slaughters of that degree in addition to a lack of real outcome.

And what to make of Godzilla? Isn't he here, too?

Darkcomet
2009-11-08, 03:15 PM
Point taken. 500 or 499 seems fair enough. I was prepared to be flexible with this due to the sheer number of kobolds, anyway.

On Godzilla: I don't think it's exactly fair for the two of us to debate what someone else's unit would have done.

Robert Blackletter
2009-11-08, 03:16 PM
I thought Paul's precognition would work like i ruled time travel as a one off Mulligan, so Mr Drowzy could if he wanted get back some of his troops by invoking Paul's vision but personally I would leave it until later.

I have only read dune (and that was a long time ago, must reread) so I have no idea how big a nerf to Paul this is (I remember Paul being a pretty powerful fighter with a personal forcefield) so if you have a problem with this leave me a message.

Also remember it your turn next so you can get some revenge by hitting his geckos hard :smalltongue:

oh and there no summary between rounds so get cracking.

Have now edited it so hopefully is a little bit more readable.

Wreckingrocc
2009-11-09, 06:14 PM
The mass of kobolds visually fluxuates as the Gekkos draw near; they seem to be at roughly a 50-50 split, their ranks quickly thinning between the rock and some patch of ground; at an astonishing speed, the kobolds begin to disappear, through what can, as the crowd thins, be identified as a small, orange-rimmed pit in the ground. The rest crowd into the small amounts they have mined into the rock, going back as far as possible.

When the Gekkos arrive, the sight is not pretty. They charge about, stomping and crushing the kobolds in their paths; the thick skulls of the dragon-creatures are crushed like eggs underneath the powerful legs of the Gekkos; as they begin to run away, the Gekkos open fire, clearing through their ranks with terrifying speed. Many of the kobolds dive for their fallen comrades, hiding underneath them or picking them up and using them as cover. Soon, all the kobolds have left the field; the four hundred or so who made it into the rock have managed to use the vast piles of bodies of the dead to block the entrance from fire or entry; even could the Gekkos tear through the bodies, they would not be able to fit in the tunnels, for they are very small.

~

"Sir!" Shouts a man with a very militaristic demeanor about him, giving a salute to the one called Muad'Dib. "The kobolds- they're being slaughtered! And fast!"

"Move quickly," says the blind prophet, his expression and tone unchanged. "Send a brief offensive; enough to clear them away. We need that position!"

"Yes sir!"

~

The Gekkos slow their movements as the smoke clears away; on the ground, some 200 kobolds lie dead, many others having been dragged to the makeshift tunnel that had been mined. It was no use moving in, of course. It is now, however, that one of the Gekkos spots the slight disturbance in the terrain. It appears to be... Some sort of hole. And... Yes! There is a base underneath! Perhaps the kobolds had been doing more than simply mining! The Gekko makes its way towards the hole, slowing its movements as it comes closer. Prepared to slaughter the mass of kobolds that had escaped inside, it pokes its head in, scanning the area...

KABOOM!!!

The two legs, no longer attached to any form of head, fall to the ground, the burned blood covering the surrounding area. Two others quickly charge forward, opening fire into the pit, but are met only with a barrage of pipe bombs fired out; they are both hit several times, and take heavy damage; retreating backwards, they motion to their allies to move. Three more of the Gekkos leap into the air, turning down and gunning at the hole, only to hear... Nothing. The bullets sink only into the grass, and they land to find the hole... Gone. As if it never existed at all.

...

Now what?

~

"Haha! Got 'em!" Shouts the one called Demoman, turning away with a grin as the woman called Chell clicks a button on her gun. The apperture he had been firing into closes, and they turn to the escaped kobolds.

"Well, what were you able to acqure?" Asks the one known as Spy, a freshly lit cigarette in his mouth. "Any of the red stuff supposedly stashed there?"

"I got three pounds!" Shouts one, holding forward his hands excitedly.

"I got two pounds!" Shouts another, doing the same.

"...I got a rock," speaks a third rather sadly, holding forward a small piece of granite.

"We must n't waste more time; the supply is limited, but we should get to work right away. Boss said this'd take care of anyone- nay, anything 't gets in our path!" Speaks the man called Sniper, fingering his hat and smiling.

With that, the kobolds make for the staircase in the wall of the barracks, descending to the new, larger lab of the man referred to as Q.

~

"Well, now what?" Asks one kobold, quite small among the rest, with a broken leg and a bullet wound on his chest. "Now we're stuck, and they're going to come and get us soon."

"Yeah, this sucks." Complains another, nervously fingering his pick. "I should've never quit dental school."

"Well, whoopdy doo!" Shouts another, throwing his hands into the air. "Let's just do nothing about it, then! They're coming to get us, and let's all just sit here and complain about it!"

"I don't hear you coming up with any better ideas!"

"Come on, guys, you're making me disappointed. Look, we know which way the base is. We have enough of us here to make it back to our base; I'll bet they're coming to meet us now. Let's just get to it and we'll be back before we know it."

"Master said to mine the red stuff! What if he gets angry?"

"We'll have plenty of time for that later. We're of no use to him dead."

"Point taken."

~

The base is visibly seeing much improvement; large, steel sheets are being carried and fused along the walls of the base, constructing a steel fortress reaching to the bunkers on every side. The fortress stands perhaps three or four stories in height, and has a very tall tower reaching out over the top by this point; although it has few defenses, it looks as if, the right army provided, it could hold back a substantial force.

Godzilla arrives in the center, seeing the kobolds retrreating from Gekkos. It doesn't care what any of them are as it charges up a plasma blast and unleashes hell, streaking a beam back and forth across the area, destroying the two injured Gekkos and damages another, while the kobolds learn that their tunnels provide no protection from the terrible blast and all but a handful of the Koblods are wiped out by the beam and from tunnels collapsing.

A shimmer at the base where the kobolds came from moves along the edges simply watching.

The red and white balls roll towards the base where the Gekkos were from, rolling from one pile of debris to an outcropping of rocks. They occassionally made noise, simply saying "Electrode. Electrode."

The giant mech at base stood vigilant, looking about and keeping all sensors on incase of a surprise attack.

Under the ground around the base, the zerglings relaxed, patiently waiting to pop up and tear apart something.

The kobolds learn that their tunnels provide no protection from the terrible blast and all but a handful of the Koblods are wiped out by the beam and from tunnels collapsing.

Casualties

170 Koblods in center are killed by the beam or tunnels collapsing afterwords
:/ Don't know if my long post was intimidating, but... The tunnels are already totally covered by hundreds of corpses; they're essentially already completely buried. Don't see how much rock he could shoot his laser through to burn through it, but if he managed to kill that many he's a better miner than they are.

Plus they retreated pretty deep...

Shepherd found out quickly that this wasn't a two sided battle. Up with the snipers, he could see different figures out in the distance, many of them fighting. Eventually one big shadow shows up...

Hey, see if you can pick off any of those...

On it.

Two seconds later, a couple of shots ring. 1 hit, 1 miss. A few more shots, some of them hits. There was even an eplosion or two.

I think I hit that thing's eye! ...What is it, anyway?

Serenty is ready to fly, on your mark.

Shepherd smiled to himself. This is going to be easier then I thought.

The last two Gekkos return to the base.

>MK: Throw hat down in disgust.
-----You curse the survivability of these monstrosities!
>Next.
-----You hear the sound of some kind of saw, and a loud moaning as if from a zombie, and all is silent once again.
>MK: Send damaged Gekko to Wulfenbach.
-----You cleverly decide to off one of the things by sending the damaged one off to the Baron. It limps to the lab.

-----Baron Wulfenbach steps out of the lab, staring at the damaged Gekko.
>MK: Apologize profusely for the loss of the three other Gekkos.
-----The Baron seems unaffected by the loss. He glances at the damaged one, watching a blood-like fluid drip from one of its legs. "Interesting..." The Gekko follows him into the lab.

-----You hear a loud moo and the saw again, before more silence settles on the battlefield. You put your HAT back on and head for the safety of cover. That giant walker looks to be doing something...

"Sir!"

"Is there something the matter, soldier?"

"They're tearing through the center of the battlefield! We've gotta get the commander! We might not be able to make status quo!"

"He knows what he's doing; I doubt he just sent them off to die!"

The furious sound of footsteps fill the top of the tower, and a kobold soon emerges from the newly erected stairwell.

"Ssssir!" Shouts the kobold, stepping into the room atop the tower. "Sliz's keyboard's broken! He's been mashing the 'E' key for thirty minutes now, calling for a medic! We need you down there immediately!"

"I'll be right there."

~

"How goes the progress?"

"It's no good, sir. We've got a lot of stock, but not nearly enough to design an effective prototype. I'm going to need at least twice this amount before I'll be able to copy the arrangement."

"Well, what've you got?"

"Just a proton laser. Barely enough to cut through steel."

"And what of the barrier?"

"The blueprints make no sense! I'll be here for days before being able to perfect it! I don't even know what the hell a projection device is!"

"What do you need?"

"Ask Muad'dib what we need to affix this to. I think the solar ionizer is working, but ask him what else we need."

"I'll get on it. I just need to reinforce the western perimeter cannon and we should be up; it's been on the fritz as of late."

~

"Dammit, we're taking heavy casualties!"

"Tunnel faster! Faster, dammit!"

"What the hell is this?! We're trapped! We're barely thirty strong!!! How the hell do we make it out from here?!"

"Guys, it's charging up again!"

"Get away!"

Another laser tears through the interior of the cave, taking out another kobold.

"Holy Bahamut! What the hell is going on?! We're gonna die!"

"No, we're not. Not yet, anyways."

"What is it, sir?"

"Take a look for yourself."

The brilliant red cavern before them stretches on farther than the kobolds can see. Crystals cover the walls, and the supply seems nigh-endless.

"...Jackpot. Boys, start to dig through this. I have a feeling we're getting rescued."

The Facehuggers, faced with a difficult choice, decide they'd rather not have to deal with the large stompy lizard and exploding balls above ground. The majority of them slip into the tunnels after the Kobolds. Most of them do what they can to avoid sight of the Kobolds and find some nice cracks and dark corners to hide in. A few manage to find some stragglers and do what Facehuggers do so well.

Seeing an opportunity some of the Metroids pass through the glowing wall, small holes appearing for them as they approach it. They fan out as they move quickly towards the battle in the middle, flying high enough to stay clear of the carnage below.

And still the sounds of furious building continues!

[OOC: Kyouhen, the tunnels are barricaded completely by about twenty feet of kobold bodies. They'd be hard-pressed to get in; the bodies have taken quite a beating, and the wall is rather thick.]

Kyouhen
2009-11-22, 04:26 PM
((How well were these walls built? Facehuggers can squeeze into some pretty small spaces, if there's a gap at the top maybe 6" wide they can probably slip in there. I doubt the kobolds would have time to build a wall that thick out of corpses well enough to do little more than slow down the Facehuggers))

Wreckingrocc
2009-11-22, 06:16 PM
[Well, the tunnel's only probably about 5' by 10', so it'd only take a few to fill it; considering most of the kobolds were smeared to a pulp, they were pretty much just pulled in and stuffed together. Sure, it's not reinforced, but it's thick and well filled. Also, I was planning on at least some humerous arc for the kobolds, most of which has already been ravaged by godzilla. Having only 26 kobolds remaining, as well as a large amount of aliens to come will completely wreck it. Plus, if all the kobolds die, that contradicts the predetermined battle plan. Finally, kobolds don't have human shaped faces; implanting the eggs might be hard with snouts and such.]

Kyouhen
2009-11-23, 02:36 PM
((We could move them off the casualties list for now. I only really put them on there because I figured it would take about a turn for the Facehuggers to do their business and fall off, at which point you'd have the Kobold back again for a bit. And yes, that's assuming the huggers can even do their thing properly to a Kobold. Feel free to come up with a humorous description of them failing to get a good grip and just being pulled off or something. :smalltongue:

EDIT:
Also I'd like to point out that there aren't really a 'large amount' of aliens. There's only 11 Facehuggers in there, 4 of which have already found their targets. None of them are capable of producing a Queen (I'm assuming that there's a unique Facehugger that's required to make a Queen and that not just any one is capable of that) so what's down there is all that's going to be down there. And I doubt a Kobold Alien is going to be quite as physically dangerous as a human one would be. :smalltongue:))

Wreckingrocc
2009-11-23, 06:54 PM
((Hmm... I think I could work with this... And I thought all the aliens had the potential to become queens with age and growth...))

Kyouhen
2009-11-23, 07:44 PM
((Original story had it so the aliens could convert their still-living prey into eggs which would hatch into new aliens. The entire scene with that was cut from the original movie. In the second movie they introduced the queen, getting rid of that entire idea. In the third movie the first alien to hatch was a standard one, while the other was distinctly a queen. Whether all the Facehuggers are capable of this or not I'm not sure, but considering the first one didn't I'd be willing to assume they act more like bees or ants where they can choose when to lay eggs that will hatch into queens. Either way you can go ahead and assume that these ones are incapable of becoming a queen. There aren't enough humanoid creatures kicking around in this game for me to bother with that anyway. Otherwise I'd have just claimed a queen when we were picking troops. :smalltongue:))

Wreckingrocc
2009-11-23, 08:18 PM

I'll write the fluff and add where my characters are later, but basically:

The serenity crew has been preparing a bomb(Using most of the supplies on the base) they are planning on dropping on a huge target. They dropped it into the center, eradicating anything there, and opening up a part of the kobold tunnel system. At the same time, they were shot down, some of the crew were hurt or killed, and they are currently stuck there. Plans are being made to help get them out.

Casualities would be: 3 metroids in the middle, 4 facehuggers in the middle I'm assuming godzilla is very hurt or dead, probably some people in the tunnels if I hit them, 3-5 people in the Serenity crew(I'm thinking Jayne, Inara, and Book)

Honestly, I'm not sure if the tunnels are in or near the center at all. Therefore, I am not sure if dropping a bomb in the middle would open it up. Thoughts?

Righty. Where was I? Ah, yes. Heads rolling.

As the Electrodes blow, a strange hybrid of necrotic flesh and machine emerges from Wulfenbach's lab. A strange, spider-like monstrosity with a Robot Zombie at its core, metal plates extending from its shoulders with a Gekko's head guns mounted on it. Its legs are spindly, but at the same time seem similar in nature to the legs of a Gekko.

Using six of its legs to support itself, it arranges debris at a lightning pace, placing two piles under the AT-AT's two front legs to keep it from falling over.

Wulfenbach steps out shortly thereafter with a high-powered steampunk-looking welder, binding the piles of debris back together-and to the walker's legs. Not one for taunting, Wulfenbach heads back to the lab.

The walker stands, saved from destruction, and walks forward in stride, showering the field in blaster cannon fire and searing through Godzilla's right leg, the wounded mega-lizard collapsing to the ground, dead.

And what's this? The last Gekko stands atop the walker's back, ready to leap down and... ouch. It just landed on a Facehugger, and it's gunning down more!

The Spider-Zombie remains behind at the base, leaping around the shambling robot zombies. MK eyes it disconcertedly.

Casualties

1+ Facehuggers (how many at Kyouhen's discretion)
Godzilla is dead for sure

"What the hell is going on!?!?"

The kobolds scramble about, strange alien, skittering, lizard-spider creatures leaping and diving about. Some shout as the creatures cling to their faces, falling over and prying them off. They are soon dispatched, not by the creatures, but by the picks of their allies burying into their faces, killing both the owner of the face and the hugger of it.

"We're down to 27!"

"That few?"

"Ooh, nope, there goes another. That makes 26."

Digging furiously, the kobolds in the tunnels by now have backpacks stuffed with the red crystal material; they had been given twelve small packs in which to contain it, for it was found to be quite slippery by some strange force.

They were then met with a rattling explosion, as if a bomb had been dropped outside; the tunnels behind them collapse, but none of the remaining kobolds are injured.

"What... What the hell is that?" Asks one, pointing to a small crack forming in the wall.

"I... I dunno."

One looks close to examine the crack, and is immediately met with a pickaxe to the face; his nose caves in, and he begins to bleed profusely.

"What the... Hell?" Asks one of the kobolds, entering through the collapsed wall and into the other tunnel segment.

"You killed Szizscr!"

"Well, excuse me for coming to rescue you guys! Come on, let's get the hell otta here!"

A girl steps forward, the strange gray gun in her hands. Shooting downwards, an orange rift opens in the floor; the twenty-five survivors, as well as the girl, plunge in, finding themselves back at base. The other thousand begin to mine the surrounding area.

~

"Sire Muad'dib!"

"What is it, Scout?"

"We've contacted the other kobolds; there are only twenty-five remaining."

"Yes. And?"

"They... Found a mine. An endless supply, they say; we've got this! Nothing can stop us!"

"Very good. Send the one called Bond to survey our foes' fortresses; I believe we've some work ahead of us."

~

"Engineer, please come look at this. This material is... Very strange. It... Eludes contact; as if some sort of magical barrier radiates from it."

"While that's all fine and dandy, Q, I think we should focus on our work."

"You don't have to focus; all you do is hit stuff with a wrench!"

"Your point?"

"Look, can you just build be something? I need some special clasps; preferably with two sets of tongs. I need to fit this piece into the aperture, but do not have the necessary equipment."

"Come on, would you mind doing something for yourself every once in a while? Look at this place- it's not exactly like I've been slacking!"

"I apologize if I am being quite bothersome, but I do believe sir Muad'Dib asked that you aid me in this effort. It's quite important that we finish on time."

"Whatever. I'll be right back."

Inside the hanger three Loxodon are busying themselves repairing the Tomb Spyders as they frantically build oversized metal beetles. Another enters.

"Brothers, the battle is going quickly. We have suffered several casualties, but the massive reptile has been vanquished by our enemies and another has used a large explosive in the middle. I believe he may no longer have the forces to stop us."

One of the Loxodon looks up from repairing some sparking circuits. "Yes, I doubt he would have many explosives. Send in the swarm, we strike at him now."

The doors to the hanger open, and a swarm of 45 Scarabs (http://miniatures.griffingrove.com.au/images/uploads/thumbs/thumb_Necron%20-%20Scarab%20Above%20RSide.jpg) emerges and makes their way to the edge of the Wall. There's a small FWOOSH from each one as tiny rockets on them ignite. A hole appears in the Wall and the Scarabs launch through it with remarkable speed, closing the distance with the southernmost base in an instant. The hole in the Wall closes as soon as the last Scarab has passed through it.

Once the hanger door has closed the Loxodons and Spyders return to their duty.

---

Meanwhile, the Facehuggers seem to have a small problem. There's substantially more Kobolds in the tunnels than there were a few minutes ago, and they can't seem to figure out how to get back out. Instead they opt to hide, hoping to catch some prey off guard.

Alright, I guess I should have checked the thread after I complained last time :smalltongue:

Shepherd didn't know what to do. Things had gone from bad to worse in a matter of minutes. First, the air crew's ship got destroyed, and he didn't even know if anyone was alive. On top of that, something the men were describing as scarabs had come towards them. The snipers had picked a couple off, but they had gotten there too quickly. It had become a close range fight.

Hey Cap'n? There are too many... We are losing men!(This is Buck, if you're curious)

He could tell. He had a tracker for anyone in the base, registered and unregistered heat signatures. They had created it from all the military knowledge the group had. There were a few blips missing from his, but luckily, he thought, none were from his own crew.

Meanwhile, the crew of Serenity were in trouble. 3 dead, a couple injured... That crash had hurt the team bad. Jayne... Book... Inara, all gone. Mal had two things on his mind: Getting them out of there, and revenge.

Kaylee, get something that can get us back to base in working order, soon rather then later.
Yes, sir.

Everyone else, grab a gun or two. Anyone not us, we kill on site. Got it?

Nods came from the group. Simon was busy tending to Wash's wounds: painful, but bearable, the same kind that Mal had. Kaylee grabbed a tool and headed into the ship.

It's going to be a miracle if we get out of here alive.

Right, sorry. Been distracted as of late...

The AT-AT and Gekko in the center turn their gazes on Fiery Tower's base and the scarabs attacking it. This was an opportunity...

The walker's driver gets ready.

"Target, maximum firepower!"

The walker lets loose a barrage of blaster cannon fire into the trenches, using its impressive HEIGHT attribute to look in unheeded, and when the smoke clears, Boss and Scorch lie dead. They were probably aiming for Scorch, since he'd have heavy weapons and such, but... Splash damage is a cruel mistress.

Meanwhile, the Gekko leaps to the crashed Serenity, landing on Simon and Wash, crushing them beneath its feet and spraying the wounded Mal with gunfire, finishing off the wounded Serenity crewmember. The remaining crew now has a Gekko to deal with...

Back at the bottom-left base, MK looked at the battle brewing out by Serenity. The creepy robot thing had surprise on its side, but he still hoped it would lose. Damn thing creeps him out immensely.

MK: Battle Technique: RUNNING NUMBERS
---MK's Vim maxes out.
MK: Pick up a rock.
---MK advances out towards the center and easily picks up a suitably large BOULDER.
MK: Hurl it toward Kyouhen's base.
---MK moves a bit toward Kyouhen's base, then lets the BOULDER loose. It flies straight over the WALL and smashing down onto the roof of the HANGAR. It does not collapse immediately, instead cracking significantly, before sending the BOULDER and roof fragments down on the Tomb Spyders and Loxodon Menders. The latter manage to avoid being crushed, but the damaged Spyders are unable to do so, getting crushed or getting things lodged into critical parts. The point is that they are no longer functional.
MK: Abscond.

"Excellent work, sir, it works brilliantly!"

The inventor Q holds the small device high, smiling at the fruits of his labor.

"Now we just need to build more. You've got quite a talent for building things, am I correct? I think this prototype should be an excellent model to work from. I'll begin work on the charged photon device; it would appear that the same substance which was used to build this is required for it. However, now that I understand the material's properties, I believe it shouldn't be too difficult to finish alone."

"Right, then," speaks Engineer as he slowly turns away, scampering off with the small device.

"Hey, dude! Muad'dib!"

"What is it, Scout?"

"The kobolds! Squads C and D have breached, sir, but they're staying hidden for the time being. What should we do now?"

"Begin construction of a command hub at the end of each tunnel. Send Chell down to the tunnels dug out by team D. Send Heavy, and Demoman to C to hold off the position, and send Bond and Spy in to scout it out."

"Alright, but... What do we do about the giant, slimy octopus monsters in the mine? The kobolds reported sighting a few."

Send Medic in to tend the wounded. Also, send Pyro in; they should be no match for him. We're almost ready."[/B]

Ok, I think my gundam is still at 100% and my zerglings are still hiding around my base. My Electrodue all died taking on the AT-AT and Godzilla's pretty much dead in the middle (and his body's radioactive, yay!). My Ghost is still wandering around waiting to drop a nuke.

Should I go? I can probably get something up in the next couple of days, but... Finals.

Commander Shephard was in shock. Things had gone from bad to worse too quickly for his taste.

Alright, everyone inside. We can't afford any more losses.

...

Yea, you think you can stop us? Hell no! The pain train's here!

Hey, Cole. We got orders to retreat.

No way Marcus, things are just starting to get fun! Cole yells as he shoots one scarab, followed by massacring another with his chainsaw.

No, we gotta go now, or we'll get flanked!

...

Sgt Buck took his eyes off of the scarabs. Move back to the gate. Orders.

Mickey and Dare nod.

Giving the order, however, had almost cost him. A scarab almost snuck up behind him. Just when it was about to strike, however, a bullet hits it and it explodes.

Hey, tell Romeo I owe him one.

While retreating, Mickey starts to chuckle. I hope they like the present I left them. This is for you, Dutch!

An explosion goes off in the background as Mickey hits a switch.

...

What was that? Another attack on us?

Hopefully not, Garrus. Either way, we have to get back to base, now. Get the gate open!

Within ten minutes, everyone gets inside the barracks, with the gate to the building closed.

...

What the heck did you do to that thing?

Kaylee was staring at the remains of the Gekko.

He killed everyone else. I think its just you, me, and River.

Wait... WHAT!? Kaylee could not believe what she just had heard. Well, at least she could understand why the machine was so bullet ridden. It almost being completely unrecognizable, however, might have gone to far.

On second thought, not really.

The engine's not quite done yet, it may take another round or two a few minutes longer.

I never noticed people were reviving it. I think it's my turn. I could try doing something if you guys want to try it, though I warn that once SPACE! Insanowar gets started I'm going to focus on that one.

Well, if someone wants to take over for me I'd allow it, though I'll try to play if no one will. I don't know if I can keep up with two Insanowars, WWs, and FFR at the same time, though.

I could do somethings with Shining Gundam like the Sekiha Love Love Tenkyoken, but 1 decent unit, and two partial picks?

Yeah, I'll start another one.

Yeaaaaaah...With recent events there is no way I will be able to keep up with two Insanowars, and as I have said I would be focusing on 11, so...this one goes, I'm afraid.

Sorry guys.

Since we lost about half, I say we just reboot the whole game as soon as Robert can get back. We should be able to get a new person from the waiting list, and I think everyone here would want to continue. Plus, I want to play through a whole game of this. Does this sound like a good idea to everyone else?
