Something like Swashbuckler 3/Psion X/Elocater X/??? X? Seems cool, but is it any good?

Yeah. Elocater is pretty bad. You can pretty much get all its effects and more just by going with say... a nicely built Psychic Warrior, or a Gish or some kind.

Really? That's too bad, I really like the class' fluff (and the picture's pretty cool, too).

Some of its class features rock, but not all.

Scorn Earth lets you fly/levitate, which is cool. Flanker is cool (PHB2 made a flanking feat like it, but before PHB 2 it was unique).
Capricoius Step lets a Scout move 10 feet and still make a full attack Skirmish (an extra you get 5 foot steps).

But 7th level Elocator is last of best benefits. 10th level grants 3.0 Haste, but only 5 rds/day.

I would not say that losing 3 ML to get Int to your weapon damage is worth the trade either (Swashbuckler levels). It's often regarded as being a common mistake when attempting to increase synergy.

More damage is better than nothing
Nothing's better than a full caster
Therefore more damage is better than a full casting progression

Doesn't exactly hold in 3.5 I'm afraid. The absolute and ultimate answer in 3.5 has always been and (as 4.0 is out) always will be 42... I mean, full casters/manifesters.

Losing 3 ML already hits the Elocator hard enough, but the saving grace is that it only loses 3. So Psion 10/Elocator 10 could still manifest 9th-level powers while having all those nice-looking elocator class features (and more skill points!).

Ardent+Practiced Manifester FTW...
Ardent 4/Fighter 1/Elocator 10 is an idea I'm thinking of for a low-power, higher-level (15) game I found. Keep full ML, which is all Ardent needs for power selection, and be interesting.

I know this sounds like a trivial question, but is it good nevertheless?

I'm not asking if this build would be better than Psion 20, because I understand that Psion 20 is better than most builds that don't do what a Pson 20 does. I know this is hard to do, but does this, perhaps, compare to 20 levels in a tier 3 class?

Factotum 1 (Able Learner)/Swashbuckler 3/Psion 1/Elocator 10/Psion 1/Factotum 4.

Psion 20 is probably better, what about Factotum 20 or Swashbuckler 20? What about Psychic Warrior 20 or Psychic Rogue 20?
