I thought "Thri-kreen riding Ankheg bandits" but then I have probably been reading too many supplements.

Not likely. They'd take a -5 penalty on ride checks for the mounts not being quadrupeds. :smalltongue:

The problem is, is that that sentence is ambiguous. Is it Anheg-riding thrikeen bandits? Or Anheg riding thrikeen-bandits? A similar problem exists for the inverse sentence originally used.
I'm not up on my DND monsters, but if the thrikeen are on top of the anheg, then to remove the ambiguity the sentence ought to be phrased "Thrikeen bandits riding on anhegs." The same thing should be done for the original post, but since he asked both, it doesn't really matter.

That applies when the mounts are hexapeds?
I thought "aspis drones riding beetles." (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127481)
I looked at Elan's joke and thought, "Ha ha. Of course the joke is that they're either bugs riding on bugs or bugs riding on bugs."
