Any relatively cheap (1,000-6,000 range) items that can raise the undead wearer's resistance to being turned? I can't find any good ones.

A Cloak of Turn Resistance coasts 11,000 and gives you +4 turn resistance. Nothing else comes to mind.

how much do you think a custom cloak that gives 1, 2 or 3 turn resistance should cost?

If I were DMing for you... using the 11,000 for a +4 as a guide, I would call a +3 item ~7,000, a +2 item ~4,000, and a +1 item ~2,000.

Here's a simple one: a Hat of Disguise. Who turns undead if they don't know they're facing the undead?

heh, brilliant suggestion, i have 1 thats allmost as good, make yourself some lesser undeads, to soak up the turning damage for you.

Oh, disposable minions, is there no problem you can't solve? :smallwink::smallbiggrin:

Tower shield makes them immune if they give up their attacks.

Ack! How did I not think of that?
In addition to the option listed earlier, I'd also add that a limited use item or use/day item built with DMG rules would be cheaper than 11000 as well.
Desecrate is a really good spell for this effect, and is only level 2!
So... you could get a +3 or +6 bonus for 6 hours a day for only 2650gp, if my math is right.

These sorts of things are entirely up to the DM (what isn't?), but generally these types of items have more quadratic price growth: a Cloak of Resistance +1 costs 1000, and a Cloak of Resistance +4 costs 16,000.

Not exactly an item, but anyone who can rebuke can also bloster.

point... so C*X^2 = 11000
X = bonus
@ 4 it is 16C = 11000
C = 687.5
So the formula is:
687.5 * (Turn Resistance Bonus)^2 = Cost in GP
Prices:
+1: 687.5gp
+2: 2750gp
+3: 6187.5gp
+4: 11000gp
+5: 17187.5gp
+6: 24750gp

Did you fall face down into your drumset? :smallwink::smallbiggrin:
Anyway, there must be more creative solutions too. I have not played as a mage anything ever in D&D but I know many other RPGs have rules for how to research your own stuff (approx. cost, time and success rate). Besides, do a cloak really have to be a cloak? Can't it be a Wrist watch or cool sunglasses (D&D modern), or a silk shirt, or a hat?

Aren't there infinite functions where f(4)=11000?
While we're discussing D&D algebra, does anyone happen to have an equation for wealth by XP/level? I know there were some nice graphs and equations for that.

while there are infinite functions where f(4) = 11000
everything that gives a bonus in the DMG you can craft is C * (Bonus) ^ 2 = GP cost. Except for scrolls which are caster level x spell level x 25
In fact, they actually explicitly write the formula as base GP value x enhancement bonus^2 for a variety of items and enhancements.

WBL isn't OGL, so just peek into your handy DMG and reverse engineer a formula. :smallwink:
