Life in the wastes was no different then it was before the bombs dropped. Well, exceptions apply to this. Such as the unfiltered, pest ridden, irradiated water; and the lack of vegitation, or inhabitable areas...

Other then all that, life in the wastes wasen't much different since the bombs fell.

Our story begins in the slightly forested town of redding. Or, whats left of it.
The city itself remains a ghost town, sitting lower down the hills from the mining town that now takes the name redding.
The town is best known for it's gold mines, casinos, and drug problems. The couple thousand residence, most of which are miners, make up the city of redding, along with the vying mining factions. The Kakoweef mines, and the Morningstar mines.

It's another acid rainy day in the wastes, the miners that aren't ODed are busy in the mines, and the citizens are in the hotels, casinos, shops, and bars escaping the rain, and trying to keep their spirits up in these miserable times.

( Note, this IS a sandbox game, so I will basically be making up "quests" on the fly. Depending on what interests you/where you go. for now, lets start off with a bit of RP to get you all into the scene.)

Tanner looks around at the wooden buildings that make up the town. He wasn't really interested in them. Even if they had ammo, it would take forever to break in, and from his experience in the Vault, probably would be illegal. The rain didn't bother him; it frequently rained in the wastes before, and while it stung a little, it wasn't all that bad. He figured it wasn't worth his time trying to break into the houses for shelter, either.

Instead, he searches for a place to trade in the Gecko skins he got travelling around the wastes, and maybe find some .223 ammo. He heads towards the nearest shop he can find and opens the door without even attempting to knock; he had lived in the wastes too long to remember such trivial pleasantries.

A young woman sits at the bar, easily identifiable to any who know her, and even a few who don't. "Shark, look I'm telling you, you would've been raider bait if I hadn't saved your ass on that last escort mission, the least you can do is buy me another drink." The man grumbles a bit before agreeing and calls the waitress over to order another round of drinks, slapping her rear as she departs. "Darling," Shark begins, "you best be glad I like you, otherwise I wouldn't be putting with your ****." Jennessen laughs a little, finishes her drink and waits on the waitress to bring the new one. "Shark, as ugly as you are, you better be glad I put up with your ****." At that the whole table, including Shark laughed. "Come one wench, get those drinks over here." Looking at Jennessen, Shark continues, "You know, we got another caravan leaving in three days, headed all the way down to the Hub, you interested? Pays big." Sharks beady eyes nearly crossed as they looked over his beady nose at Jennessen, awaiting her response. "Not this time Shark, I'm gonna stick around here, spend some caps, see what I can get into. I'll see you when you get back though."

The waitress returns with the drinks and everyone goes back to side conversations, Jennessen scans the bar looking for any newcomers, or anything that seems out of place.

Making his way slowly through Redding, a large black and tan wheeled robot rolls down the middle of the street whistling to himself. Occasionally he stops and asks miners that don't look too strung out on drugs for directions. Not use to navigating around a large human settlement it takes him a while to find the more lively part of town, although he is not really in a hurry anyways. He pauses and scans the various bars and shops, then choses a random shop and rolls on in after the shaggy headed man enters before him. "I am here to requisition some ammunition."

Tanner turns towards the strange contraption. He wasn't quite sure what it was, but he'd seen enough things in the Wastes he wasn't really suprised. Tanner had seen some other metal contraptions once or twice, shouting some kind of message about President Eden, so he figured he was kind of similar to those, although this one looked a lot more dangerous. Tanner starts speaking in a gruff voice, and while he hasn't had much occasion to speak, he still remembers most of the old words.

You too, bolts? I was just about to run out of ammo for 'ole Colt, Tanner motions to a rifle strapped to his leg, when I found this place. Figured it'd be easier to get ammo here then shooting up some Raiders and hoping for the best.

Jennessen

After a few more drinks, Jennessen decides to make her way towards the local shop to see if the new shipment from Scrapyard arrived on time. "Thanks for getting the drinks Shark." She says with a wink and a smile. Shark says nothing, just a nod and a wave.

As Jenessen enters the store she notices a large robot and another man she has never seen before. "How are ya?" she says to the man, before looking to the robot. "Hi" she says as she keeps walking towards the store counter. "The new shipment make it in yet? Anything good on it?" Jennessen asks inquisitively of the shop keep.

Tanner turns towards the woman who had just arrived, looking over her quickly. She didn't seem like much of a threat, but he could never be too careful. She didn't dress very safely for somebody living in the wastes, that's for sure. Again, he begins to speak gruffly.

I need ammo, and then I'll be heading out again. I don't have any money, or whatever passes for money here, but I've got some gecko skins I'd like to sell.

Tanner motions towards his back, where two massive skins were rolled up and tied to him, good for who knows what. They made comfortable enough blankets during the night, but maybe they'd be worth more to the shopkeeper.

DMBlackhart

The shopkeep is thrown off his gaurd as only minutes later from the gruff "hunter's" entrance, a rather alarming robot, followed by a chick who has seen better days barge into his shop.

Hay! Cain't none of ya read? we're closed!!

The man takes particular alarm at the robot, to which he responds by arming himself with a particularly polished, and effective sawed-off shotgun.

The man keeps the gun raised, and looks to the two humans in the group as he speaks.

That thing with ya'll? You should go tell the sherrif, don't want it malfunctioning or anything 'round here.

The shop-keerper seems to be a fairly aged man. Well weathered with a look of experiance on his face, as well as a look of someone who is no stranger to chemicals. Although not a miner, it seems the influence of reno's drug sellers have reached this old timer as well.

When the shopkeeper starts shouting at him, Tanner turns around and with a fluid motion draws out his pistol, which, not knowing any better, he assumed was named "Deagle" from the markings on the side that read "D. Eagle." As he is pulling it out, he drops prone, still aiming for the man.

I don't read too much, it's raining outside, and I'm not in the mood for some crazy stimmed up bastard to point a gun at me. Put the gun down or Deagle will start talking, and when he talks, everybody listens, got me? All I want to do is trade in a few skins I don't need, get some ammo, and head back to the wastes.

To Donkey (Feel free to omit that part about walking outside, unless you still stick by that option after this post.)

The shop-keeper looks around at you all, and lowers his shotgun, reckognizing the female a little more clearly. The man grabs a cracked pair of old glasses from the counter, shotgun at his side, and then takes another look at you all.

" Ah! O-oh my, sorry about all this trouble miss jennesen. Just wanted to be careful.. So that robut of yers, is he dangerous? Cause I don't want no trouble or nothin.

The shopkeeper seems almost reasonable until tanner draws his gun, although considering the shop-keepers actions, it only makes sense.

Boy put away that pee-shooter. If ya wanna keep your fingers you'll holster yer piece boy. Now if we are quite through with the greetings, the names Meagen... Ya I know what yer thinkin, "thats a girls name" well tough. It was my daddies name, and his daddies name, and HIS daddies name. So stop yer laughing and set those snake skins on the counter.

Milskidasith
2009-10-14, 06:46 PM
Since we're being reasonable here, fine. As for your name, I don't really care if it's a girl or a boy's name.

Tanner stands up and holsters his Desert Eagle. He makes a show of dusting himself off, although he was dusty before he got into the store and really couldn't get any of it off anyway. He reaches onto his back and gets out the two Gecko skins, then walks out to the counter. When he gets there, he unrolls the two, laying them out flat.

Not in the best condition, but I'd bet somebody around here could make a nice coat out of them. I was lucky the raiders were attacking the Geckos before I got there; those things were tough enough even after being beat by their sledgehammers.

Wanting to avoid any more confrontation, at least for the moment Jennessen lies to the Meagen. "Yes sir, I recently acquired him. Finest robot in the wasteland if you ask me." "Meagen" hears all of you out. And chuckles a bit at the gecko story before he hefts them away.

That I do lil' lady. Got some good rounds, and ALOT of food in. Although, you don't look underfed.

The man hefts up about 6 ammunition boxes, unlocking each with a seperate key on a very old, rusty key-ring.

So what'r ya'll lookin fer? I got some of yer basic armor piercin rounds fer yer little pee-shooter there boy. And I got some .35 rounds, and all the basics.

EDIT: List your ammos you want, and unles it's too unreasonable he SHOULD have some in-stock. ( the reason I asked for you to list it, is again, if it's like energy cells, or sniper rounds.. he might not have it.. maybe.)

Milskidasith
2009-10-14, 06:55 PM
Tanner once again begins to speak while focusing on other things; mostly, what Meagan was doing, but also looking if there was any ammo for his rifle in stock.

Meat bag, eh? Do you always insult your owner that way, or is this something new?

When Meagan begins talking, Tanner focuses on him while speaking.

I need some ammo for this rifle. Tanner points to his leg. It takes .223 and 7.62 MM rounds. As for my "pea shooter" I'm pretty good on ammo for it right now. A bit of food would be nice, too.

2009-10-14, 07:03 PM
You can just call me Tanner, if you want. Then again, seeing as you have the big guns around here, I don't think most people would complain if you called them whatever you want.

OoC:

What condition is our gear in? It can have between 0 and 10 boxes filled for condition. I'm assuming it's not perfect, but still functional, so maybe 3-4 boxes for all my gear? Also, ammo I want: either kind of .223 (for stronger ammo) or 7.62 MM (weaker ammo, and cheaper.)

EDIT: Put in the ammo I wanted (though I kind of already mentioned it.) What does our robot want, again?

DMBlackhart
2009-10-14, 07:10 PM
( Why does your rifle take 2 different ammos milks?)
(Eh, I was just gonna ignore condition to start with, consider it dumb luck or some such, but if you are hell bent on accuracy then I would say 3 boxes is fair)

The elderly shop keeper takes out a few packs of rounds, just enough to cover the worth of the reptile pelts ( I unno, 100caps total?). After which he locks the cases and puts them back under the counter, picking up his shotgun once more, and putting actual rounds in it.

There ya go boy, a bit of everythin you'll need. You can even take the rations for free.

Meagen turns to jennesen once the purchases are delt with.

Ay, lass, ya might wanna go take your new toy down to the garage. I am sure ol' buck would wanna inspect it, he always was a bit eccentric when it came to machenery and such.

2009-10-14, 07:17 PM
OoC: Somebody object to the statement I'm making IC.

As for taking two different types of ammo: It can use either 7.62 or .223. Yay for being versatile (though honestly .223 is just 7.62 ammo but with AP or DT ignoring properties, so W/E. 100 caps worth would be a grand total of 17 7.62 bullets, bringing me up to 20 total for my gun.

IC:

Tanner grabs the ammo and, after putting it a couple of spare magazines, puts it into his pocket.

Thank you for the ammo, sir. Unless anybody here has any objections, I think I can head out as soon as I finish eating.

Tanner then grabs a couple rations and begins to eat one, leaning on the nearest wall. When Tex begins talking, he looks up at him.

Yeah, my weapons might be a little worse for the wear. You seem pretty knowledgable, so if you want to check it out, feel free.

Tanner unholsters his Desert Eagle and his Colt and hands them over to Tex, making sure the guns are pointed away from people at all times (no Luck rolls to shoot myself here. >_>)

Huh, the old man disappeared on us. Ah well, it's probably no big deal. I kind of want to head back to the wastes, but I get the feeling some of townspeople probably need some stuff done, and if I can get some extra supplies out of doing what I do to survive anyway, I'll be happy enough. As you all ready yourselves, grab your equipment, and some food from meagens stores, you notice the apparent lack of the geazer.

Jennesen happens to find his basement door still locked. The old-timer is probably holding himself up in there for the time being.

Moving along-

As you all work your way through town you see some of the sights of redding. Most of which involve wanna-be gansters causing trouble, jet-addicts begging for some caps or a fix, a good deal of people running scared from the robot, and yet all the while the sherrif seems to not respond to the frightened calls.

You come to the first little bar you can, the door is made of wet, almost destroyed wood, but it seems to hold.. for now.
Inside the bar you are all greeted at first by the barkeep, until, like meagen he jumps back at the military designed robot with the flamethrower, MG, and High-tech guns equiped to him. Although ALOT of guns come out and things look bad the people don't stay that way for long. If the robot was looking to hurt anyone, it'd have done so by now.

The owner of the bar comes up to you all, whether or not you decide to sit down he seems to follow you, talking you all up, being particularly careful around the robot.

Jennesen, good ta see ya again girly. How have ya been? I havent seen you in here since... well since last night. It's been awhile, Oh!! and I see you got yourself a man, and a body gaurd.. well good for you. Please sit down, drinks are on the house for you, well, you need to pay first though.

The barkeep takes the caps and sets you up with a rather small glass of vodka, and a plastic bottle of somewhat brown-tinted water.

Bah! this is redding darlin. Even you should know, next to reno, or those filthy zombie pits, that this is probably the worst town out there. Hell, it's the freest though, I would take that over all the caps in the wastes!

As you continue your drinks the barkeep does that cliche'd glass cleaning excersise as he continues.

So ya, there is ALWAYS need for someone round here. I hear buck over at the garage is closin up for the time being, somethin about his lil girl going missin yesterday. And that filthy mayor of ours is always up to somthin. Hell you could even go check he mines, im sure the sherrif would welcome a few more hands in handling the damn addicted miners, or the disputes, or hell even the constant territory war with the gangs. Ah, but don't let our petty little problems bother ya. You should just stick to your escortin buissness. It's easy, honest caps in my opinion.

The barkeep sets you up with a few more drinks for free when those run low.

I personally don't need much. You could go hit up that dead-beat meagen for my rum supply. Should have gotten it in recently, and yet no one see's him all too often. I swear if he is sneakin MORE jet into this town I will lynch him myself!

DMBlackhart
2009-10-14, 10:06 PM
Once inside the garage tex spots a lift system, which seems to still be operational. The lift seems to stick about halfway through elevation though when manipulated.

The garage is full of dilapitated machenes and spare parts, and even some kind of broken aircraft hanging from rusty cable wires.

The man stops his bawlin long enough to look up, a smile on his face when he sees jennesen, and an even greater one when he sees the robot.

Oh, it's terrible jenny. My little girl, becca, she went out to play yesterday, I figured she would go see that markus boy or something. But she hasent came back since then. No one around town has seen her, and with the slavers and raider out there I just don't know WHAT to do.

Y-ya sure. You should know where it is jennese. Just a little north, near the edge of the cliff before the mines. If I recall you and the boys mom never really got along did you? Erm, are you sure I can trust these two?...

After a minute the man hands over a picture, and a small paper "roll" filled with bottle caps.

Thats the 50 caps I was gonna pay a scab to find her for me. But since your up to it I guess that'd be you.

The picture shows a 10-year old girl in a dirty cotton dress with a series of missing teeth to her semi-clean smile. She has dirty blonde hair, set up in ponytails, and soft green eyes.

Buck barely notices you leaving, however he does stop "tex" for a moment as the others leave.

Here, take these. If the lady wont take caps you can at least make use of this junk.

And he hands over 10lbs worth of metals and parts ( scrap metal..)

You begin your search in town, asking questions to people, and looking for trails. Your search is almost for nothing when finally the "mother" of that "markus boy" shows up in your search, telling she saw the kids running off to the western hills a few hours before the rain. Something about their ball going missing.

Milskidasith
2009-10-14, 11:15 PM
Tanner thinks for a second, his hand on his chin. He then brings it down, always keeping it near his gun when at rest, and turns towards his companions.

The hills are probably the only place we have to look, so we should head there. I doubt we'll find many other clues in town.

As the "mother" of the boys leave, Jennessen mutters something about a nasty, disease ridden, flea infested, lady of the night, only in well, much more vulgar terms, just loud enough for the woman to hear. "I guess we should make our way over to the western hills."

DMBlackhart
2009-10-14, 11:28 PM
With your robot companion being unusually quiet you continue your search.

However a nasty glare is returned at yur foul comments. That "witch" always seems suspiscious of something.

However you head about 10 minutes walk out of town, to one of the few areas still forested. Beyond this forest, and down the hills lies the REAL town of redding, the ghost town of redding that was abandoned after the bombs fell.
if the kids were there, things could get ugly.

These parts were known for it's high yao-gaui population, and although they stick to the forests, it makes entering this area no more comfortable.

You press into the woods only for a moment or two before you come a trail at last. A trail of blood leads off, which only worries you more, at the end of the trail, and in a small clearling is a small, red rubber ball.

You are about 10meters from the clearing, an uneasy feeling creeping along the back of your neck.

Milskidasith

As soon as you come to the edges of the clearing tanner see's them. In the trees outside the clearing, and in the area around. At least 5 of them, yao-gaui. They don't seem to have noticed you yet, but they still seem uneasy, as if they know prey is nearby.

Talking Donkey
2009-10-14, 11:38 PM
Jennessen looks in the trees to see if she sees the children, hoping the climbed to get away from the Yao Gao.

Perception Roll [roll0] Goal 5

Milskidasith
2009-10-14, 11:43 PM
OoC: As for needing a 10 or lower... well, you might have wanted to add in perception modifiers. After all, if they're in cover, it might have been a -2 or something to perception, so I rolled it. If it was anything that was being especially sneaky, a 10 would have actually caused me to fail.

Tanner, seeing the Yao-Gaui around there, drops to the ground, trying to both hide himself and line up a shot on the beasts.

Sneak: [roll0] Must get 35 or lower. D'oh.

DMBlackhart
2009-10-14, 11:44 PM
You can't find the children in the trees. However, with the fact the yao gao are up there as well, it would be foolish to think that would keep the children safe.

EDIT: The robot is with you too, and since tex's sneak sucks, you guys were bound to be seen.. so...

The yao guai turn their heads to your direction. They don't seem to readily notice the entire group, but the humming robot, with his large build is a easy target, as well as the rather clumsy hunter who manages to hit a rock with his left foot, causing it to fly into the clearing, which gave off your position the most.

The yao guai jump from their positions, and advance as close as the rubber ball, but do NOT attack. As the robot is confirmed to them they seem to stay at bay. Although they look ready to attack, they don't advance on you. Although most yao guai have burn marks and mutation marks from the radiation, some seem alot fresher, and few things further then explosives, and flamers could cause burns like that.

They are at the rubber ball, which is about 5 meters from the clearing edge, which is 10 meters from you. SO, 15 meters from you. Keep in mind context clues.

Milskidasith
2009-10-15, 12:06 AM
You mentioned the rubber ball was in the clearing, but not how far into it. It could have been ten meters away.

Tanner brings up his Deagle, keeping it pointed at the Yao-Guai.

Screw it, they already know I'm here. Might as well take some down with me.

BANG! BANG! Tanner quickly fires off two shots, his Desert Eagle bouncing back with the recoil, aiming both at one of the Yao-Guai that already looked injured.

Attacks:

[roll0] Need to beat 90-enemy AC-any modifiers.

Eveyone list Sequence and other important stats like AC and the like.

Fair warning, yao guai in this are JUST as strong in the game. So around lv 5 or 10 a single yao guai is still a threat...

So lv1 is... well...

I will have the yao guai stats up tomorrow. Just because if I listed them tonight you'd all go to bed with nightmares.

I am inclined to believe you.

Ok so, Yao-Guai stats as I personally interpret them and from what me and 2 friends agreed would be fair.

HP: 50
SQ: 16
AP: 12
XP: 500
CC: 10%
AC: 20-----DR-----DT
Normal:-----4------40%
Laser:-------0------0
Fire:---------4-----40%
Plasma:------0------0
Explosion:---4-----40%
PR: 80%
RR: 60%
GR: 0/40

Claw (90%, 3 AP, D:2d8)

So, for now find your place in the initiative. And in a few minutes I will list the enemies actions/ the results of tanners actions. ( word to the wise, animals bigger then you are hardly worth shooting at. :p)

EDIT 1: INITIATIVE- Tanner (go again), Yao-Guai, Tex, Jennese.

EDIT 2: 1. Trust me, me and my friends have played alot of fallout. We think this build is fair.

Also, Me and a smart friend did the damage, and ( you did say you had rounds that pretty much makes their DR 0 right?)

So the damage you delt with both bullets totals out to.. 10 and 11 damage. To 21 damage total.

Milskidasith

How the hell are Yao-Guai faster than deathclaws? I can understand the rest of it, but Deathclaws are the fastest things in the wastes and these things are faster than them. Also, let's see... damage dealt would be 18 and 17 -4, so 14 and 13, *.7, which gives me a grand total of 9 damage, twice. At least it was already injured before shooting at it.

EDIT: And I've played Fallout... deathclaws were always faster than Yao Guai.

2009-10-15, 12:55 AM
So, to get back into the RP and out of the books..

Tanner lets off two shots, both sticking into the closest, and oldest looking beasts legs. The yao-guai set off at him, but not before he lets off a few more shots.

When/if the yao-guai get to you, they look hungry, but some look too un easy around the robot.

(Go tanner)

EDIT: And I've played Fallout... deathclaws were always faster than Yao Guai.

But you see milks, that the RPG book doesent do justice to the deathclaw. The 14 or w/e SQ they have, is stupid. Since yes, we have played fallout, and they are FAR faster then that. You have a 20 SQ and a fair deal of action points. Point is you ARE faster then a deathclaw, which FEW humans would be.

Meening I have re-statted out the deathclaw, yes, I have.

Meening I have re-statted out the deathclaw, yes, I have.

Few humans would be, yes. Which is kind of why I have to have 10 in two stats to do it (and in fact I'm actually just as fast as the Deathclaws, I just go first.)

Anyway, there's pretty much no chance I can actually do anything. Even the ones that are already hurt are probably going to survive a couple bullets, assuming that wasn't just fluff and all five of them are a full HP. I can run away from them, and they'd catch up in... let's see... 6 hexes on my turn, then 12 on their turn, 15 between us now, 10 each round for me after that... They'd catch up to me in 6 rounds if I sprinted away, and we'd be over 200 feet from wherever they are now. (Wow, I just realized running in this game is really very slow in general; 200 feet in a minute means that, as the fastest possible human on earth, can run a mile in a grand total of 25 minutes. >_<)

So yeah...

Tanner sees that his bullets are having practically no effect on the deathclaws, and rather than take a few potshots and kill one of them, decides it would be a better choice to run away as fast as possible and hope they decide to leave him alone. He rises up from the ground as quickly as possible, and then starts sprinting at the speed of a really slow person's walk on crutches away as fast as possible.

Woo, I'm now 21 meters away from the Yao Guai pack of death.

DMBlackhart
2009-10-15, 02:14 AM
The Yao-Guai rush at you at the sound of gun fire, however once you get a few yards past the robot the yao-guai stop. The beasts entire pack stops about 2 meters from the robot, whatever experiances they have had of technology obviously is playing out in your favor. For now, the creatures stand at bay, unless provoked.

DMBlackhart
2009-10-15, 01:40 PM
Tex sets the brush on fire. Causing a small wall of flames to flicker between you guys and the yao-guai. Two from the pack actually fully retreat, which is met with some angry roars. While the rest only stand back, obviously hungry to get at their prey.

OoC: Does it really matter whether I go before Jennessen at this point, since I'm just running and either way both of us go before the Yao-Guai?

Tanner continues (sort of) sprinting away, moving as fast as any human could. If he were fighting lesser beasts, he might run and shoot, but these things were fast and could survive two direct hits from his guns without slowing down; it wasn't like shooting molerats or dumbass raiders armed with pieces of scrap metal. He looks back, briefly, when he hears the TEX start talking.

Ok, they're kind of scared now, so get the hell out of there, now! I doubt they'll wait around for long; either the fire will burn out, or they'll get braver.

OoC: Burning 10 AP to run, run, run!

DMBlackhart
2009-10-15, 01:59 PM
OoC- Thats fine Milks.
( I am going to assume you are ALL retreating. Unless Talkative Pack-animal chooses a different action)

Out Of Initiative-

The fire burns away as you all begin your retreat. You have a good 90 feet between you and the beasts before they get back to chasing you. However that distance can't be closed in time for you all to make the edge of the forests, which seem to be a stopping point for all but one of the yao-guai. A single one continues to chase you for some time until a few rounds are fired in your direction, cutting into the animals leg, and giving you time to finish outrunning it.

In the distance you see a slender, but muscular african male with a soft leather trench coat and ten-gallon-hat. The man is holding a hunting rifle, reloading it after that shot was fired.

As you pull in closer you see a badge on his chest which reads, "Sherrif Marrion"

That was a close one, you should all be careful going that far near redding. What were you all doin out there anyways?

Milskidasith

Tanner eyes the sheriff up and down. He seemed like an expert marksman, and Tanner was respectful of his expert aim.

Thanks for the shot, though with only one of them left I think I could have taken it down. Still, saved us from a pretty bad situation for sure. We were out there because we heard Buck's daughter was last seen over there. Any particular reason you're out here?

DMBlackhart

No raiders around these parts that I can speak of. But you can ask around, or head out into the wastes and find yourselves some trouble.

The second is a trader caravan. The group is unidentifiable from here.

The last, a rather large party of humans, they seem to be leading a caravan of 2 make-shift cage like structures, full of humanoids. It's obvious at this point the merchant group is outrunning the "slavers".

Unfortunately for you all ( not counting tex yet), something ELSE has caught your attention. Before you have time to give a second thought to the slavers a MASSIVE insectoid creature falls apon jennesen.

The black chitinous plating of the giant scorpian scraps against you as it holds you down, a foul icor spilling from it's joints, tail, and mouth.

With a hissing it's tail is draw, and prepared to be swung down apon it's prey.

Nix that jennesen, apparently milk is opting to skip this entire encounter. ( which, since he ASKED for a easier fight, I am amazed he skipped it.... )

I just wanted to avoid the radscorpion, not the slavers, if that's possible.

As for an easier encounter: I kind of wanted one with a chance of actually getting us something; a radscorpion would be a waste of bullets. Raiders, however, let us get some ammo and caps.

DMBlackhart

(so... since your skipping the encounter, and the XPs/Treasures...)

You move past the apparent issues in the waste. Dodging the slavers as they gun down that lone trader group.

However it is miss fortune for others that will bring yourself much more luck. A large billboard sits on the horizon, not more then a couple hundread yards off reading, ROB-CO, as well as some faded out part where an obvious slogan would have sat.

The area looks relitivly bare, what would have counted as a parking lot at a time is barren of everything except for dilapitated Canyonaro SUV . The SUV sits up on stone blocks, it's wheels removed.

The facitlities front door seems ungaurded, and there are no signs of raiders, or mutants, or guys named Tenpenny.

Rob-Co!! (Industries, est. 1954!!) ( I think. :p)

The building is very dark, obviously. Coupled with the fact the sun has setted, and night envelops the wastes, the factory is nearly pitch black. The only sources of light are comming either from the snack machenes, the soda machenes, some still functioning mechanism and signs within the building, and most of all the lights from you three.

( I tried making a map, but failed sooo....)

The dark halls seem almost lifeless as you explore the compound, nothing entirely threatning from a couple rad-roaches, which are quickly delt with.
Finally you all come to a floor-plan of the factory, a large red dot with a "YOU ARE HERE" on the south-most end.

The map shows a multitude of room on the first floor alone, as well as a series of access routes to the higher stories.

Floor Plan- 1st Floor

You press through the dark hallways. Making no effort to keep your wits about you or remain quiet. If there WAS anything in here with you, it's not like they wouldent have time to prepare at this point.

Pushing on past a short series of hallways, with yet more radroaches, you come to a door only slightly smaller then the rather bulky TEX. A sign on the front reads "DIRECTORS OFFICE".

You all push inside, a rather tight fit for TEX, however nothing of a real issue. Once inside you find alot of important "office" type dealies.

A small box under the main desk titled "EMERGENCY ONLY".
A personal computer with more wires then the average one streaming along the floor. It seems active.
A coffee mug with something.... unknown... inside.
A multitude of papers all about the office, some littering the floor.
The corpse of possibly the director of this unit of ROB-CO, although with his remains being just a skeleton with no suit, your not sure.
A revolver on the desk, the chamber open to accept more ammo.

1 clip of .44 rounds

Lots of good stuff in here, guys. We've got some ammo for that revolver on the desk, either of you can take it since I've already got Deagle. There's a knife and a hammer in here, I think I'll carry them around, and some medical supplies I can carry around. Plus, there's an anti-robot grenade and some energy cell, maybe you can use it, Tex. A couple flares as well; I can carry one around and shoot with one hand. The powerfully built TEX tramples into the door, knocking whatever was barring it loose, with a powerful *SNAP* noise.

The doors push open slowly from the remaining momentum, your lights bleeding through the darkness of the R&D department.

Inside you see a series of metal desks, all with personal computers, charts, and a series of other important buissnessy crap. At a couple of the desks are corpses, fully dressed in labcoats. All the computers seem inactive or destroyed.

The silence is thick in the air. Your hearts beat heavily, experiance like this somewhat new to you.

However the veil of silence is shattered by the sound of a deep, robust, mechanical voice. " New life detected, scanning, identifying, eliminating..... Out of energy.... Please wait patiently for your termination, I will be with you shortly.

At the far end of the room, near a small door labeled "Supply closest", is a rather large, rather intimidating robot. A very old, very underdeveloped Protectron is waving a burnt out energy gun at you all, before turning around to search for a charge energy cell.

OoC- By RAW I should be assinging roughly 170% or so penalty to your attacks because of darkness (obviously this after the flashlights are accounted for). But I always found that section inaccurate, so I am thinking a modest +30% to your roll should work fine. ( So if you have to beat 31% to hit, you have to roll a 1, or you fail. Etc)

Darkness- 30% penalty

OoC- Feel free to lob a grenade. If you can INDEED hit, it WILL obliterate the machene. :p

The outdated protection chimes in once more.

Oh no, I'm not throwing it. I'm waiting near the bot and might go BOOM if it tries anything.

Tanner runs right next to the robot, just out of melee range but well within the blast radius, and holds up the grenade, shining his Pip-Boy on it.

How about you don't even try to find ammo, or I blow this thing up. You might live, but you might not. Seeing as I have one of the most powerful anti robot grenades I could find, you have to ask yourself a question. Do you feel lucky, bot? Do ya?

Searching through the debris of the R&D department you find a few notes that seem relitively important. As well 3 seperate holotapes, each from a different desk.

Notes-

* Blue-prints for a more "up-to-date protectron" model.
* "Store Room Passcode"- 539482-1
* "The problems with the assembly line"

Holotapes-

* "The Rejects"
* "Our Duty"
* "F.E.V"

The protectron acknowledges as you dig throug the remains.

"Protectron Blue-Prints"
The blue-prints label all the major and minor systems to creating a protectron, however most of these parts seem to be either to rare or too old to obtain. However with this knowledge you're sure you can repair a protectron with less effort now.

Major Parts-

* 2 Large Energy Cells
* Limbs (Spare Parts can be substituted)
* Steel Plating (^)
* Motors, Joints, Gears, Etc (20 Spare parts)
* Sensor
* Comba Inhibitor (Optional)
* Intellegence System (Optional)

"Storeroom Passcode"

I have written down the Storeroom passcode where I am safegaurding the more important Rob-Co Research. What with the war and all, I can't be too careful.
539482-1

"The Problems With the Assembly Line"

I am writting down all the issues I have seen with our new "automated" assembly lines within the past month. I plan to bring this evidence to the director, maybe put a little sense into his head. Rob-Co is developing far too fast, we are outputting more problems then products.

* The assembly's intellegence seems to be corrupted, need to call in a specialist for this.

* The line keeps improperly sensing parts, creating amalgamations of metal rather then robots.

* The Line's Electron Output systems ( The thing that looks like a cattleprod) keep falling off. Need to get that fixed before it hurts someone.

* The line apparently has a few missing pieces, we will need to shut down production until we can repair it.

Tex plays each holotape in turn, the audio playing through his voice systems.

"The Rejects"

"Wonderful, just wonderful. Apparently I too got a notice from VAULT-TEC today, They have enough room in those damn vaults for civilians, but truly inspirational minds like myself aren't important enough? Im not the only one, over half my co-workers arent getting into a vault, things are looking grim for the war too. Well, I guess we will just have to wait it out, and hope for the best.

--------
(A younger voice comes on)

Testing, Testing. 1...2...3... Alright, not much space left on this thing. If anyone catches this do NOT open the storeroom. Some weird **** is going down man, and I trapped one of those malfunctioning robots in there. The thing had a ****in CHAINSAW!! ~~~ Bzzzt ~~~

--End Transmission--

"Our Duty"

It is our duty as Rob-Co employees to see the advancement of the future. Even if the war is taking a turn for the worse, I have to ensure technology continues to thrive, and continues to aid mankind. I heard that they will be loading the vaults tomorrow. At least the ones in my area. God, I wish it hadent come to this. No use in crying over it now I suppose, just have to move forward. I am downloading a new intellegence program into the assembly lines. I know this is problemtic, considering the issues from last month still haventbeen resolved, but with this, it SHOULD be able to keep outputting robots, even if only 1% of them function.

---End Transmisson---

"F.E.V"

~~~ Shouting is heard, a very heating conversation is going on, but the tape is too damaged to hear it entirely.~~~
------
Damn him. That fool is going to destroy the world, I swear. Not only does he want to increase production a REDICOULUS amount, but he also wants us to start making biological weapons? He showed us the blue-prints today, I burnt mine resently. They were too corrupt. Using a chemical called "F.E.V" or "Forced Evolutionary Virus". I heard about this before, The government had been experimenting it, although no solid evidence had surfaced yet.
I don't know, my ethics tell me not to, but I have a family to feed.
DMBlackhart
Please, remain with the tour. I am confident we an find the nescessary supplies to carry out your execution. Until then I ask you restrain from going into the restricted sections of the factory without a proper guide.
You come near the Assembly line along your jounry to the first storeroom. Inside which you spy a super mutant rummaging through the room. Looking for something. You can barely make out-
" Grah! Where are you you litle pest. Come out come out wherever you are. I have a little surprise for ya!"
However, the mutant seems to distracted to notice you. Despite the protectrons occasional blatherings about terminating you.
TEX cracks open the protectrons back panel, revealing a series of wires and gears and mother boards and computer chips all well outdated. This protectron is probably the earliest model in existance. And indeed, it's a increadibly simple task to re-wire it.
The protectron protests at first, but shortly comes to your way of thinking.
" I must ask you desist attempting to reprogram me. I have a set order to annihilate anyone who attempts this, and to annihilate them twice if they are also tresspassing. You will need to remaind me later to annihilate you once I find ammunition.
After the re-programming.
I am still under orders to annihilate all tresspassers. But I cannot morally harm a friend. ~~ Bweep~~ Change in priorities. I will now exterminate the mutant. Be Are Be
The protectron then sets off to the nearest doorway to the assembly line. Unfortunately this is much closer then you thought. It begins by opening the doorway. Shortly followed by issuing a verbal threat in binary to the mutant, and finally getting 30 or so rounds punched into his weak chasis by a chain gun the mutant carries. The mutant is also now headed this way.
( sequences plz. I will have mutant stats shortly)
OoC: I'm pretty sure the Protectron is dead, TD. I'm also unsure of why DMT thinks something with 70+ HP would die in one round to two of us, but hey, W/E. It's also got absurd stats for something worth 250 EXP; 10 AP is as high as anything, it's got more HP than a (base) deathclaw, it has a minigun so we can't outrange it and it deals... err... 20d8+100 damage a round, and it's got 20 AC. By comparison, a Greater Molerat, worth 400 exp, has a mildly poisonous bite, deals 1d8 damage three times a round, has far less HP, slightly better resistance to normal damage and worse damage to everything else, and doesn't, you know, have a minigun that can vaporize all three of us in a round (I'm not even kidding about that; even TX would die to a concentrated burst from that gun.)
It's not so much that I don't think we can beat it... it's just that it's worth way more than 250 EXP, seeing as most things at 250 EXP aren't even a mild threat to us.
Anyway, IC:
1. The XP was a typo, I apologise. I quickly edited it, which is why I am amased you dident see it. *shrugs*
2. It may do 2d08+100. But there is a problem. Thats 1d8+5 PER bullet. in these condition s, the mutant has a 4% chance to hit tex. More or less for AC for you two. So if EVERY bullet hit, it'd be a miracle.
