You need only follow the single hybrid guideline of having a Final Fantasy backstory based on criteria that meets Final Fantasy stories. You can even make stories for summoned monsters and villains.
Name: Archerd
Age: 900 years old
Race: Ygdrasiling (living trees, like Exodus/Exdeath)
Occupation: Undecided
Focus: Summoning, Black Magic, and finally, fighting, when he gets to a high "level".
Archetype: Wiseman
Archerd comes from the Ydrast. A vast forest area. It has humans in some areas, who are by far the minority, as well as elves, moogles, and also the elusive Ygdrasilings. When Archerd defeats summoned monsters, he keeps them inside of his body, as a tree. Archerd is, in truth, an old wiseman from his country of Aiken.
Archerd is something of a mystery, but he does acknowledge his race, his talents, and his likes and dislikes. Archerd has a hatred of the sun, from a curse by Exodus after he lost a duel, draining Archerd of most of his powers. Archerd was allowed to live as his Ygdrasiling community was destroyed.
Many Ygdrasilings have become petrified trees after fighting Exodus, including Archerd's lover Aefre. However, Archerd's parents received the worst treatment, being cut down by an enormous army of strange armored dwarves with chainsaws. After Archerd killed the dark dwarves, he saw the leader of the invasion, Exodus. Exodus and Archerd fought eachother for three hours, as Archerd stopped the murder of the entire Ygdrasiling city.
Archerd finally lost, but Exodus was so sadistic, he decided it would be worse to allow Archerd to live as a powerless shell of his former self, and forced him to watch as Aefre was transformed into a petrified oak. Archerd was banished with the survivors, never to return on pain of death. (explains why he begins at level 1)
