This could be a useful spell in certain situations, for example if you need another few seconds with a Fly spell...

Prolong Magic
Transformation
Level: Brd 0, Sor/Wiz 0
Components: S, V, M
Casting Time: One swift action
Target: Spell affecting a single creature or object
Range: Touch
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Yes (will negates)
Spell Resistance: Yes

Pick any one ongoing spell up to 3 levels higher than Prolong Magic that you cast with a duration of 1 min./level. That spell's duration is increased by one round. By heightening Prolong Magic you may prolong higher level spells. Prolong Magic may be cast on the same spell multiple times.

Material
A drop of flammable oil

I see what you did there.

I'd make this a swift action spell, actually. It's not to powerful, and that extra round isn't good for much if the spell effect you really want to prolong requires a standard action to use effectively.

This is, however, such a specific spell that I can't see it being prepared much (if ever)...there's never been a time when I needed exactly one more round of my X /level spell, unless X is measured in rounds.

Perhaps allow it to work for X rounds/level spells to actually make it useful?
