Difficult choice this time:

I really liked

The Whining Head
Dread Colossus
and Gothad

But my vote goes to:

Precious Little Things

I'm voting for the Hordling. I have a soft spot for creatures that form swarms with each other.

I vote for Caterwaul. It's a very nice low CR monster with mystique and a good effect.

Its a tough choice but I find the Ankou the creepiest

Am I allowed to vote for myself? A little self-serving, but I really like my concept.

There were a lot of good entries. I enjoyed them all, even the ones that weren't perfect. In the end, I have to say that the Precious Little Thing won me over.

It's tough to decide between the Caterwaul, The Harvest King and the Dread Collossus, but i'll go with... Hmm...

The Dread Colossus.

My vote goes to the Ankou. I think you did a wonderful job on it, I love the idea of causing mistrust and paranoia... Definitely a good job done.

Hm. Thank you for the link...

>>DarkCloud (Disqualifiable)
Missing attacks, saves, and average hit points.

-But it has attacks. I clearly wrote Base Attack +4. and Full Attack +4. I do not see what was missing there?

-I did not realize that I needed to write average hp; that can sort of be implied by HD I would think- it's not something that needs to be written out. (That seems beyond nitpicky- average hp is just simply half of whatever hit dice I used. It is intuitive.) [Incidentally I just learned from your comment that average hit dice is used in monster stat blocks., so at least some benefit came out of this.]

-As for saves- yes, I missed that, bad oversight- If you are going to be a hardass then I understand why you disqualified me based on that.

But is that really something worth disqualifying for? It is three numbers, a good save, a bad save and a mediocre save.

It seems very extremely nitpicky- if people do not like the fact that I missed writing in the saves (one line- three numbers) they can just not vote for me. To be kicked out of the voting because I forgot one line of my creation seems asinine.

It is not as though I intentionally left out the numbers because I did not have time to calculate them. It's clearly something that was overlooked.

I suppose you will retort with if you let in a person who missed one category, the next time someone will complain that they were only missing two or three categories... but it's not as though I submitted this on the day of the deadline- I had my submission up 3 or 4 days before the deadline and no one mentioned saves were missing until 3 hours before closing-- not three days- not one day, but three hours.

I proofread my entry and did not see saves were missing (likely because I had the + signs in place.)

I cast my vote for the Ankou. Changeling crossover for the win. :smallcool: It was tempting to type in Gothad or the Harvest King, though.

EDIT: And Vorpal, if you don't mind me saying, I think this has been one of our best contests yet. At least in my memory.

As much as I yearn to vote for the Caterwaul, teh Gothad was just damn funny

I apologize that I wasn't able to look over your entry before that darkCloud. I wrote those up as soon as I was able.

-But it has attacks. I clearly wrote Base Attack +4. and Full Attack +4. I do not see what was missing there?
"Combat The Tic is patient. It hides, and then strikes at an isolated being."
What does it strike them with? What is the attack for it? Is there any additional damage?

From how you described many things there, it would have some kind of physical attack.

However, I only mentioned the blatant things. I let pass a good few other things. I do not wish to spam our voting here, so I will message you with them later.

Oh yeah, this'un is a keeper! Last time we had one like this was Holly Jolly 2-3 years ago. Had even more entries than this I think.

-But it has attacks. I clearly wrote Base Attack +4. and Full Attack +4. I do not see what was missing there?...

we need what kind of attack they are and the damage for them, not just the bonuses for them.

as in

Attack: Claw +4 (1d4+2)
Full attack: 2 Claws +4 (1d4+2)

or if it uses a weapon, what kind of weapon it would typically wield along with the attack bonus and damage.

Ah, thank you Shadow- that makes sense; I did not think about that.
And to VT; I will not post anything else in regards to that in this thread so that the voting may be done cleanly. I look forward to the messaging.

And so I may be on-topic: I vote for the Precious Little Thing.

The nightmare is over but who has left us forever with an uneasy feeling that we feel to the marrow?

It is not a beast of claws and horn, nor the dead left forlorn. It's but the Precious Little Thing of the strawberryman.

What though piques the Tribble's fancy? Lord of ripening souls and scything swing, Admiral Squish's Harvest King!

Each of you will receive an avatar of your winning entry, if the looks of terror on your reader's face's is not enough. Congrats!
