I need a little help with this, because I have no idea how to balance it out.
I was searching a way to make a Wizard who specializes in the study of the ways of magic and its manipulation instead of wasting time in trivial activities like raising a familiar. [So the class feauture resigned to gain this variant is the familiar, obviously]
Looking at the Wizard class I've found obvious the solution of making faster the acquisition of bonus metamagic and creation feats(every 4 levels, I've thought), but:

How much?
How can it work at Epic Levels?
Any other ideas?

Remember that everything you came up with must be relatively easy to use in conjunction with the HeroForge excel sheet, because I use it and I don't want to resign having all my stats perfectly automated. (adding manually a feat is easy, an exotic ability with complicated game mechanics not)

So that's all, and please pardon me if my English isn't perfect

You know, I believe it's in PHB II where you give up your Familiar for some nice abilities such a s "abrupt jaunt." Look into it.

Mmm... Abrupt jaunt... I can't find it... You're sure it's in the PH2?

There's also the Forlorn flaw which trades a familiar for a bonus feat. It's from a Dragon Magazine but I don't remember which.
