Force Missile Mage. It's from some Dragon mag I think.

Force missile is a level 4 spell that is similar to magic missile and also explodes. Can't use it yet, but next level you could/

a few ways.

yes force missle mage from dragon magazine.
as well as the force adept from C. arcane.
I would pick up the missle barage spell as well for your third level slots.

I would also memorise dispell magic or i think there is a metamagic that adds a dispell effect can't remember.

also meta magics are your friend.
Twin, empower, still, silent, fell drain(heros of horror or liber mortis)
as well as metamagic reducers like arcane thesis, focused meta magic or what not...

There are great force spells (including missiles) in Spell Compendium. I'd branch out a bit and get spells like Howling Chain and Manyjaws.

I know you're thinking Wizard, but there is an ability in the Quint Sorceror from mgp that lets you pick a certain number of spells by spell level which you are not affected by. This could be used to make it where you and your spells ignore shield as an effect. However if I remember the ability right you permanently loose a 3rd level spell slot for it, but you get up to your Charisma modifier in spells/levels you just ignore.

So, yes, Force Missile Mage from the Dragon Compendium (original source Dragon #328) is precisely what you want here. You lose a level of casting progression, but you can breach shield spells, get more missiles, deal energy damage with your missiles, and get the ability to reflect enemy magic missiles! It's the class you want. :smallwink:

as well as the force adept from C. arcane.

This is the Argent Savant and it seems like a nifty PrC
4/5 casting and adds a little damage to your MMissiles, if you want that to be your only spell that's the only thing it will give you.
Magic Missiles Storm from the SpC is a more AoE oriented Magic Missile

A dip into archmage can get you magic missile or a metamagicked magic missile as a spell like ability. Once you reach high enough level you can grab empower spell like ability and quicken spell like ability for more fun. Both are in the monster manual or I think, or else the DMG.

As a damage focused build I would using your lower level slots effectively will be difficult. Busting mirror images is one application. Targetting every random thing you see in the dungeon to see if it's a creature or not (magic missile won't target objects) is ok, but a wand is better for spamming that. Metamagic rods can help you get more damage out of your lower level slots. Beyond that I'm stuck. Maybe get other force spells instead? Find classes like archmage that trade in spell slots for other things?

Might i suggest taking some way of adding anti undead capacity to your magic missiles; taking the fel line will make you awsome against anything living (-4 str, shaken and energy drained if you stack 3) and prestige classes can let you peirce golems' magic resistance, but against undead the pidly damage and immunity to the fel line is going to suck.

I'd second using a sorcerer since you can add your metamagics on the fly, specifically customised to your target.

If you're able to take a little flexibility, Thunder lance is a spell that lets you use a force spear, and if it hits, you have a good chance to dispel force effects, such as shield, on the target.

If you're dead set on magic missile and magic missile only, use Leadership to get a dispel specialist to tag along with you.

The Fell metamagics he is alluding to can be found in Libris Mortis, they can affect any damaging spells.
(fell) Weaken is +1 Spell level and imposes -4 str, no save. Affects living targets only
this is good for you
Frighten +2 Spell Level. leaves all those damaged shaken, no save. Affects thinking creatures that can be scared.
Drain +2 spell level. A negative level to a living creature.
woah woah...Does this impose multiple negative levels per casting of MMissile?
Animate +3 spell level, slain living enemies raise as zombies

Arcane thesis is best with loads of +0 metamagic to offset +2/+3 Metamagics
Sanctum spell (CArc I think)
Energy substitution (can you apply this more than once? e.g. fire-->cold-->acid) (CArc)
Invisible spell (cityscape)

Transdimensional spell is useful (CDiv)
Edit: Consecrate Spell (CDiv) converts half of your damage to Sacred energy.

If you're only going to be using Magic Missile, then take levels in Wizard and Sorcerer, and go Ultimate Magus, after you finish Force Missile Mage.

Sheriff of Moddingham: Well, he was thinking Wizard - five months ago. Please avoid thread necromancy.
