I posted this in the dice rolls section but have a feeling it will go overlooked and unanswered.
Im assuming the code for rolling dice only works on these forums? If so how can I incorporate it into other message boards and chat rooms.
How do other people roll dice elsewhere on the internet? Thanks!

Here you go. (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/)
EDIT: Note: invisiblecastle also lets you save and link to rolls, so they can be shown to other people/posted in other games, etc.

Oo this seems handy, but I was thinking more along the lines of a way to just generate a roll within a chatroom or message board, not through a third party web site and then linking, seems a bit tedious for a chat room game, maybe not if I got the hang out of it though...

AIM chat, at least, had a roll option, IIRC. Dunno about other messengers...

As far as I'm aware, there's not just one method. Some message boards have this function, many do not. I think it is something that has to be coded into the message board/chat room/whatever. There's not even a unified system for this, everywhere you go the commands are different.
