In the description of the new book (http://www.giantitp.com/GIPOTS04.html), there is mention of an untold story called "Elan's Underwater Adventure".

I'm interested in hearing theories about this. My own idea is that Elan has to go down to the bottom of the ocean to fool The paladins about what happened to Kubota (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0599.html).

Any other ideas?

I expect it will be related to this: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0498.html

Probably occurring near the beginning of the book 4 storyline, before we actually link back up with Elan/Durkon/V on the boat for the Daigo/Kazumi wedding.

When Roy is in the aftelife fishing with his grandfather, a fish he had caught vanished, and Horace commented on someone "having an underwater adventure". I suppose the two things are correlated.
This would rule out the kubota part, since it happened after.

EDIT: ninjas, ninjas! They're everywhere!

Also, I wouldn't be too surprised if it involved the three evil adventurers (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0497.html) as well.

So, the swordfish as a mount or as a makeshift rapier?

Elan starts to wear an eye patch during 501 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0501.html). Something could have happened there.

He only wore the eyepatch because he needed to look mistyrious if he wanted to be a bodyguard.

and yeah, I know I've just butchered the word myst-whatever (just came back from 5 straight hours of math lessons so give me a break)

Um... okay...

... It is true, however that Elan wished to look mysterious, playing as Hinjo's Bodygaurd.

I'd wager King of Nowere has it right. Maybe the evil adventurers as well, but time being what it is in the afterlife, I wouldn't be surprised if Roy had been fishing for a couple weeks after the evil adventurer encounter.

He does, according to Class and Level Geekery V. It's also a bard spell, so this is a possibility.

I think you should go to the FanService thread...

Should we hum the "Jaws" theme while we read it?

I like that idea. That little plotline was never totally resolved. He could go down, make a Kubota-skeleton-illusion and swim back up.
