Candy for lvl 8 wiz (3.5)

It seems I need to open a specific thread for this ...

I as a DM have at my disposal 11.000 gp and must for this amount with magic items reward a PC (lvl 8 wiz.):I have no idea, what to buy. (core only) Sugesstions please!

Storywise guy who rewards this lvl 8 wiz is his stepfather, lvl 18 wiz. He KNOWS what his little stepson/apprentice would need. So random loot is not really an option. So let me rephrase te question:
You are a lvl 8 wiz. You have 11.000 gp. What do you buy (backpack, shovel, rope, etc. excluded)? (core only, may be a single item for cca 11.000 gp. CORE ONLY!)

Either a second or third level pearl of power(4k or 9k respectively), and an assortment of eternal wands for utility spells and, if depending on the state of his spellbook, a few choice spells, either in scroll form or as an already scribed spellbook(probably better).

A Blessed Book is only 12500, so if you want to fit that in somehow...

An Int boosting item, with rare scrolls for wrapping paper. Or a Baccobs Book.

As said above int items...also scrolls/wands to use to save spells. Also maybe stack some things into maybe an extradimensional portal room for studying and such just for rp purpose.
