Would a minotaur cleric be totally awesome? It seems to me that it would. +2 LA for +8 Str and +4 Con, 6HD would be pretty cool.

Also, for my DM-ing would it be an alright idea to give random undead class levels? I was think a Lvl 4 ghoul cleric leading 2 ghasts. (My players are lvl 6)

Im too tired to pay attention to punctuation and grammar.

1: i think the minotaur cleric would have an alright feel and good rp and a dmg machine.

2: yes give them class levels makes it more interesting..and not so easy to counter.

You realize that you add HD and LA to get ECL, right? So a first level Minotaur cleric is a 9th level character...

Hmm... Really? ... I honestly don't know...

As a player character? I don't see much reason to do a minotaur cleric, as you're losing alot of caster levels for the LA and the RHD. For a Fighter or barbarian I could see it (since the stuff you're getting works very well with those classes), but not a cleric, it just isn't worth it to lose 8 caster levels. As an NPC, it could work very well.

Giving undead class levels is something of which I approve. Undead clerics can be especially nasty with their inflict spells.

In concept, perfectly fine. Who says minitaurs don't have shamans and such. Good bonuses for a cleric that wants to stay alive and really hit hard when someone threatens his Flock. The undead thing is kinda neat...creepy, but neat.

Would an undead barbarian work? They can rage with no CON score right? It woulk last for 3 rounds and because they dont become fatigued, could they rage again?

Could also have a Minotaur Druid...

Although the first person to make a Tauren reference gets my 12" diameter steel d6 thrown at their head...

As someone mentioned, RHD and LA stack to determine ECL. That said, if you were willing to use Half-Minotaur it'd work out (and the bonuses are better anyways). You still lose a caster level, but the bonuses for Half-Minotaur are obscene (something like +12 Str, and +8 Con I believe).

And yes, I honestly tend more towards enemies with class levels when I DM anyways personally.

Not that good for a PC, but pretty nifty for an NPC. As a "non associated class", a Minotaur's CR would only go up by 1 for every 2 Cleric levels until Cleric hits 7. So a 6th level Minotaur Cleric would only be CR 7 (it's ECL would be 14).

Having played one, I can personally vouche for Fax's minotaur (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105968)as balanced (use it as a +1 LA in a 3.5 game) and a blast to play.

If you want a published source, might I also suggest the minotaur in the Dragonlance campaign setting? I have a friend who plays one on a regular basis and he quite enjoys it.
