Uh, you seem to have your starting locations mixed up. I start on the red side.
Sorry, fixed.
Turn 1:
Standard: begin casting a spell
Sudden extended investiture of spined fiend on self, share with strider
[roll0]
not done
Alrighty, saruman and strider grow spikes.
Move: Saruman to Z7
Strider's move: To Y6
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 07:46 PM
How are you casting a spell that needs materials without a spell component pouch? :smallconfused:
Good question, retcon a material component punch cause I am dumb.
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 07:49 PM
Your movement triggers Exhibit's readied action. He chugs the potion as soon as you take your first step. Does that change your turn?
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 07:53 PM
Exhibit A, round 2
Move to I-1. Manifest a power
Psicraft DC 16:Force Screen.
Free actions to drop the potion bottle and switch spiked chain grip to two hands.
Done.
Stats:HP: 13/13
AC: 25/15/20
PP: 1/2
Position: D-6
Shield of faith 1/10, Force Screen 1/10
Maneuvers expended: None.
Move to Z1, kick myself for picking nerveskitter instead of enlarge person
Strider simultaneously moves to Y2
Standard: Cast Launch bolt
[roll0]
[roll1]
Strider completes his movement to Y1
End turn
I am assuming that force screen kicked your AC up to 23+ making that a miss. Probably not productive. Strider is a riding dog if it was not clear.

I don't believe you can move like that. I understand that you're trying not to provide soft cover for me while still keeping it within 5 feet, but your characters don't actually move that way. Your AC acts on your turn whenever you like, I believe. As long as it ends movement within 5 feet of you, it doesn't lose the effect of Share Spells.
I think.
Anyway, the bolt misses.
Exhibit A, round 3
Charge to X-1 and attack the strider riding dog.
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
Done.
Miss. I don't really want to be lame with save or dies in an exhibition so
Strider unleashes a volley of spines, then the spell fades as I move away. The spell does not say anything about these spines provoking an attack of opportunity, so I don't think they do.
[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]
[roll3]
[roll4]
[roll5]
Move to X5, Unleash a volley of spines
[roll6]
[roll7]
[roll8]
[roll9]
[roll10]
[roll11]
Thats enough bad rolls to last me for a few matches. Done. Well actually the damage rolls were good, the attack rolls were bad.

Let's see. AoO for your movement, whatever your exact path was.
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]

Exhibit A, round 4
Full-round: Activate Charging Minotaur. Charge to X-5.
Opposed strength: [roll0]
Damage if you fail: [roll1]
You'll also end up in X-6 if you fail that.
Edit: Right, it's treated as a Bull Rush, so -4 penalty for your size.
ah right, forgot about that, should have tumbled. Hit.
I believe the dog gets an AoO
[roll0]
[roll1]
Opposed Strength for trip attempt [roll2]
My opposed strength: [roll3]
I am assuming I lose. I can't really hit AC 23 consistently, I would need to outrun you or use Color spray (had it prepared, but thats no fun).
EDIT: Nevermind. You have -2 AC from charging so the dog hits, roll opposed strength.
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 08:45 PM
Charging Minotaur does not provoke AoOs.
Edit: And I have 25 AC, minus 2 from charging.
Er, versus you, anyway. 21 normal versus the dog.
Yeah charging minotaur says that it does not provoke AoOs so looks like you win. GG
I basically have a 95% chance of winning if I use color spray and 95% chance of losing if I don't.
Tanaric

Not really. I have a virtual +6 to will saves.
DC 14, so like a 30% chance of knocking me out.
Not really. I have a virtual +6 to will saves.
DC 14, so like a 30% chance of knocking me out.
Oh right that one maneuver. I guess I should have read your character sheet :) Enlarged Dog might work though, possibly combined with a tower shield and/or running away.
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 09:05 PM
Yessir. I wouldn't seriously lower my will save in a "Color Spray hahaha!" environment otherwise. :smallwink:
Edit: Possibly. But large dogs are pretty easy to hit. *shrug*
Rematch?
Sure.
Spells prepared:
Investiture
Mage armor, Enlarge person, ER Swift, ER
X3 launch bolt X2 Acid SPlash
Ditch scythe and scroll of color spray, get Longspear and tower shield for purposes of this match.
[roll0]
Start on top of Strider in Y13
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 09:13 PM
[roll0]
I'll keep the same purchases, I suppose.
On top of strider in Y13, carrying a tower shield but not wielding it. Cast a spell
Mage armor on me shared with dog
End turn.

Exhibit A, round 1
I am strongly reminded of Joust. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joust_(video_game))
Starting in B-13, potion one hand, shield chain in the other, etc, etc.
Chug potion. Drop bottle. Move to I-10. Shift grip to two hands. Enter Stance of Clarity against the dog.
Done.
Standard: Cast a spell
Sudden Extended ER on self, shared with dog
Move: Draw Longspear, hold it in the same hand as the shield ()
End turn
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 09:42 PM
Double move to U-13.
Done.
Cast uno mas spellEnlarge person on self, shared with dog
Not done
forgot something Will save [roll0]
Alright, Strider turns Large, Saruman does not. Good time to move out.
Delay the rest of my turn to intiative count 17. Move action to stow tower shield, free to hold spear in 2 hands. Strider moves to V13&14, W13&14. I dont know if he can ready an action but if so he does
attack if you come within 10 feeet
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 09:53 PM
Readying an action requires the Ambush trick, going by what Mavian told me.
Also, your dog moved through my threatened area to reach those squares, so AoO:
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 09:58 PM
Exhibit A, round 3
Initiate a maneuver
Martial Lore DC 16:Steely Strike
and attack the dog.
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
Edit: Done, by the way.
Argh hold on I misread your position. That should have been just a 5 foot step forward lol.
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 10:02 PM
That would make more sense, but the official arena stance is "what's written is what goes".
I don't really care if you take it back, but it wouldn't fly in a match. :smalltongue:
Whatever, either way Strider five foot steps and attacks
[roll0]
[roll1]
Trip[roll2]
Dismount to behind Strider cast a spell
Investiture on self, shared with strider
[roll3]
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 10:09 PM
Strider is standing in front of me as you posted your turn, so no five foot step is necessary.
Exhibit A, round 4
Swift: Recover maneuvers.
Standard: Attack.
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
Done.
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 10:11 PM
Ah, I shouldn't have said done. I would have moved and closed the distance between us.
Oh well.
Which square did you dismount into?
Edit: That kills Strider, yes?
Assuming we scratched that previous Aoo and the dog is still standing
I remount and attack
[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]
[roll3]
[roll4]
[roll5]
Strider attacks
[roll6]
[roll7]
Trip [roll8]
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 10:16 PM
The AoO never hit, unless I'm hugely mistaken. If you didn't move into range, I would have closed and used the same maneuvers.
My hits (I presume) were Steely Strike (22 attack, 12 damage) and a normal attack (23, 12 damage).
If you didn't move into AoO range, by the way, I need to know which squares you did move to.
If you have a way for Strider to have survived 24 damage, I don't see it on your sheet.
Edit: Also, have either you or your dog grown spines, yet? Or any other telltale signs of spell effects?
In that case yeah hes down. I am not going to be able to beat you with just the spikes so I guess you win.
Tanaric
2009-10-28, 10:20 PM
Alright.
Rematch (v. 2.0) against my Druid?
Sure, I think I am going to go to bed in a few minutes though we can do it tommorrow. do you want to keep going in this thread or start another?
